  4. Hi KCDawn, I considered the trio, so many things I am still unsure of. The trio is different than Mariachis right? I thought I wanted cocktail hour on the beach right were we are married after, but it may also make sense to send them pool side where the reception would be too. What made you chose beach side? Where did you find those pictures/posts of cocktail hour? Will you be taking pics during cocktail hour?

  7. Hello! That is exactly what we want to do as well. I am trying to picture where or how the cocktail will take place. Do people where shoes onto the beach, put them on after? Are you providing flip flops or a basket?

  9. Hi CKDawn, my wedding is coming up and the first draft of the contract was only recently drawn up. It was more of a general itemized list and does not say exactly the cost per person. I am working with Valeria as well. Did you specifically ask for pricing?
  10. Hello, Kristinalilly. I am working exclusively with Valeria. She is really flexible and responds quickly, especially if you let her know if you are worried about something. My wedding is in july.
  11. Hi Bpokatie, thanks for your reply. Our wedding is in July of 2012 and I think we have 16 people booked. So... we may end up with a bigger group which is great and makes me nervous all at the same time. I think we will do an iPod sound system no matter how big the group we can entertain ourselves I am sure. The cost for DJ seems large comparatively speaking. I am still not sure weather I want reception on the beach or pool side. Cannot make up my mind. I def want Mariachi band at some point and maybe guitar for the ceremony still debating. The planning is pretty minimal right now although I am sure there are a million things I SHOULD be doing like place cards or something. I am pretty sure I want to do a welcome bag although I am sure they will be a pain to ship and deliver to rooms, but I think it's a nice touch and makes everyone feel like your thinking of them. Is Valeria your planner? How have things been going in your planning? Nicole
  12. Hey newbie! Welcome. I am a July 2011 bride. Still trying to figure out how correcting posting to threads works:) To answer your question on who to invite and how small to keep it. I really wanted a small wedding, but many people who did a small destination had a reception of some kind upon return. I didn't want that . I thinks function halls of any kind are over priced and over rated. So... I just decided to invite pretty much everybody ( Secrets is not a cheap place) and who ever could afford it will come. I don't know if this helps. That's just how I decided to do it. So far, I think we have about 20 for sure, but it's still early. Nicole
  13. Hey everyone, novice to here!! Is a welcome dinner different then a rehearsal dinner? I do want my guests to have a chance to get to know each other before ceremony day. Also, how many days are you spending with your guests before the ceremony day? Our guests are traveling appx. Saturday to Saturday and we mary on Wednesday then we are thinking of leaving secrets on Friday. so 4 days before ceremony and 1 full day after. Please share your thoughts Nicole

  15. Hey, I want to know almost all of the same things you do. I am not sure how many guests yet. sending out save the dates still. I think between 30-40. I can tell you what we plan on doing... Ultimate package, beach wedding, poolside reception. Maybe outsource on pics.... try La Luna by Del Sol company. I am using an IPod for reception music and I cannot believe the 11PM thing either, but maybe you and your guests can go to the club after!! Desires I think it is called at the resort? What dinner package are you thinking that has surf and turf? We don't LOVE any of the menus, actually we like the sound of the silver one better, but are afraid it won't be as good cuz it's cheaper. We plan on cocktail hour after beach wedding when we will take sunset pics (i think/hope) I hope some experienced brides get back to you and me! Good luck and have a wonderful wedding Nicole
  16. I am really not sure how many I will end up with. Good luck with your OOT bags. Why is it called that? Are these welcome bags? I bet you can still order. I am such a novice. I think a lot of people finish deciding on details like tables and such when they get there so RELAX it sounds like your way ahead of the game. Keep me updated when you can you.   17. hello all, just a general update for my July 2012 wedding. Getting the ultimate wedding package and keeping most of it the same so far. I expect about 30 people, but haven't even sent out save the dates so I am not sure yet. I am thinking about about a site visit, just to help pick the venue and um... because it would be fun! Has anyone done that? Is it helpful in the planning process? I chose a DW because I find planning really STRESSFUL. I really hope I don't have to be on top of my planner for every little thing. What do you guys think? I have been communicating thus far with Valeria and she seems very happy to comply and responds in a timely fashion which is great. I am considering one outsource for pictures. Del Sol seems great ( I really don't know any others). I am not interested in a lot of pictures or fancy albums, but I really don't like pushy or shady business. It all depends on what they quote me and if any of you girls have anything good to say about the hotel photographer. I really only need a few hours of photos.   21. Hi bpokatie, thanks for your response. Small World lol, I cannot believe we both decided on Mexico after saint Lucia. I'm inviting everyone, family and a few close friends. Hopefully it won't go over 50! You never know who will decide to go. The info u sent is very helpful. Thanks so so much. We are using liberty travel. I think I saw 6th room free promotion but we looked so many Places I forgot. That 50$ promotion is pretty cool. I'll get back to you soon with more details. Did you look anywhere else other secrets?
  22. Hello all, I am glad to see so many SMB brides. My FI and I thought we wanted to get married in Saint Lucia and after going and enduring that crazy expensive flight have settled on the Riviera Maya. I am still debating between SMB and Excellence Riviera Cancun. I am almost settled on SMB. What your saying about the extras is very important to future brides. Please report back and late me know. I am also a person who doesn't enjoy the general planning process and if I am gong to have to go with a lot of outside venders and search around like crazy I may not be happy. Could anyone tell me what it costs to reserve a block of rooms? Or if early booking will expire soon? Are there any discounts for # of guests you might have? starting from square one bride Nicole
