  1. So what happened to those two brides on here that figured out they were scheduled for the same day?? I don't remember who it was but hopefully they are still here...
  2. Mayte's replies are on and off; she's insanely busy and organizes all the weddings at the restaurant. Her most recent email to me mentioned a really big wedding coming up. As hard as it is, try not to worry too much. She'll get back to you eventually
  3. Capecodder, of course I don't mind!! I'm in Canada and I got them at Spring, but I just checked their US website and they're there too... US Website: http://www.callitspring.com/us/women/sandals/fashion-flats/84162727-abernatha/74 Canada Website: http://www.myspringshoes.com/ca-eng/sale/women/sale-sandals/fashion-flats/84162524-abernatha/74 In Canada, the white ones are on sale and in the US, the pink ones are on sale. Weird! Good luck To be hoenst I didn't love them when they arrived (I ordered them), but everyone I've showed loooves them, lol. They're not perfect (the pattern of jewels and pearls are not identical on each shoe) but no one will notice that. I'm keeping them, DONE!
  4. I had the same problem - this is the best one I found but it's probably not good enough for your brochures... maybe email the WC and see if they can send you one? (If they do, I'd love to hear about it ) http://lh6.ggpht.com/_jVMrE5waCUA/TTgBFMy1n7I/AAAAAAAAEXA/LEKv7H8lLhw/melia_caribe_tropical2.jpg
  5. Hi ladies, I purchased these shoes the other day, any opinions? I've decided to go with flats all day long because my ceremony is on the beach and I don't want to worry about hemming my dress for different height shoes. Plus, my fiance isn't that tall, and our height difference is great when I'm in flats. Most people won't even see these, but what do you think? (PS don't mind the blotchy feet, it's all mosquito bites!)
  6. Hi bittersweet, congrats to you too! The Melia is right next to the Jellyfish. I don't remember where I read this but I think that the walk along the beach is 10-15 minutes. If you want to rent the whole restaurant it is an extra $1000; if you want to rent only the downstairs it is $500. The following is included in the $500 reception decoration fee (I got this from another bride so still need to confirm with Mayte): "Linen, napkin and sashes in wedding colors, chirs and cover chairs, decorations napkin, menu cards, names cards, centerpieces, decorations, candles, tables cake, wellcome table, longe inside for dance floor, decoration entrance and restaurant area." Hope that helps! Email Mayte with any questions you have - here's the email address I've been using: jellyfishrestaurant@gmail.com Enjoy!
  7. Sorry for the confusion - what I meant is if you actually want a floor (as opposed to just dancing on sand), it will cost more. If you're fine dancing on the sand then of course there is no extra charge.
  8. My decision was made easier by the fact that setting up a dance floor outside costs more I don't remember how much more, but I'd rather spend it on something else. Dancing inside looks like a great option too, and some of my guests may just venture outdoors on their own and dance in the sand.. I'm sure the music will be loud enough that they can dance anywhere they like!
  9. torilynn - i am leaving from toronto and going to the melia caribe tropical in punta cana. decided to go with $1362... im sure many guests won't be happy, but oh well, hopefully our price adjustment will come in handy!!
  10. I think you're right - they do offer a one time price adjustment so I think I will go with this rate. I am having a really hard time making an important decision right now - I have been dealing with three different travel agents to get a good deal... now all three have matched each other at $1362/person. So now I don't know who to go with!! One is SellOffVacations, one is Flight Centre and one has her own small company. They've all been helpful and are offering the same deal. If I provide 10 deposits right away, Flight Center can hold 20 seats at the same rate, while SellOff and the other girl can hold 40, and that's much better for me to get my invitations out. So I think that drops Flight Center. The girl with her own company has been really helpful but I worry about booking with a small company vs SellOff ... I feel like if anything goes wrong, there's more accountability with SellOff... what do you think???
  11. I have been communicating with Mayte through jellyfishrestaurant@gmail.com
  12. Jellyfish - I have paid my deposit, picked my menu, decided to make the restaurant private and now I'm playing with the idea of having my ceremony there too. It seems more personalized and Mayte provides so much for her $500 decoration fee. But I already sent my deposit to the Melia, so I don't know.. I emailed my WC to see if I can use the deposit for the spa or flowers or something instead... she's taking forever to reply. 13. I'm arriving on the 21st! If I see you, you'll be able to give me up to date tips I am having a really hard time making an important decision right now - I have been dealing with three different travel agents to get a good deal... now all three have matched each other at $1362/person. 14. All my Jellyfish planning has been on my own directly with Mayte... she's great!
  15. Ya, ours has the price adjustment too... I guess that's worth it....!
  16. I haven't really researched that aspect... personally I find hotel photography to not be the greatest, but I haven't looked into the Melia. When I booked, they did send me an email and I thought their prices were pretty steep. I'm bringing my own photographer and got a good deal from him.... Sorry I can't help with that!! Our trips will probably overlap! Can't wait!!
  17. If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying? I just got a quote for $1362 and think I'll take it but it seems like so much I'm leaving from Toronto...
  18. It's going well! I am having my reception at the Jellyfish restaurant, and now I am actually starting to consider doing the ceremony there too, haha! But we are definitely staying at the Melia.... Have you booked yet? Where are you departing from?
  19. I don't know what to do!!! Just got the best quote so far for my April 21st, 2012 departure date - $1362. My fiance thinks this is still too high and that it's so early that we might as well wait a few more months. But you guys seem to book REALLY early... is there anyone that did wait/is waiting and what are your opinions?? I'm departing from Toronto, btw. THANKS!
  20. Danid, what is your date? I am getting married April 23rd at the Melia!
  21. Lasallebabe - I contacted him through ryork@codetel.net.do very recently Good luck!
  22. Thank you so much! I emailed him, read his ceremony script, and have booked him now! I am more excited than ever about my ceremony!!
  23. Mayte's DJ is $600, no charge for going over time!
  24. This may be a stupid question, but can Pastor York perform a non-religious ceremony? We are both not religious at all and I don't want any Bible or religious references in my script, but is that 'rude' to ask a Pastor to do??? Any input would be great!
