  1. If anyone is in the GTA area, I am using http://enchantingmemoriesstore.com/ It's a small company, and my sister used them two years ago, they did a great job. Also, just quickly looking at the prices on the websites that were recommended here, they seem to have better prices. I have no idea if they ship elsewhere because I live close, but it's worth checking out!! (She told me her highest bride bouquet price was $95... bridesmaids $75 or something like that)
  2. Thank you for the input.... Miss Sunshyne, they are wearing the purple colour in the picture. I think it's a bit nicer in person, but it was exactly what I was looking for.. my colours are purple and orange.
  3. I'm only having one dress for absolutely everything, but I know a lot of girls have one dress for the wedding day and one dress for the 'trash the dress' session... maybe this is an option? Are you doing a trash the dress? If you're just going to get two dresses because of the price, in my opinion, I'd use that extra cash elsewhere
  4. Here is my ring... it has two dark blue sapphires on the sides. I love it, he did so great! Picked it and designed it himself too! Now I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on a wedding band... at first the gap really bothered me but I didn't want the curve either because I want the option of wearing the band on its own...but now I see a lot of you don't mind the gap so maybe it's okay I do have to decide if I should go for an all diamond band or sapphires as well... thoughts?
  5. This is my bridesmaids' dress... they are all wearing this dress, still not sure how to differentiate my maid of honour though!! Any ideas?? I got this dress at RW&Co,found it while shopping for myself!! It fit all of my bridesmaids perfectly, and they have very different body shapes! They have great dresses, and it was only $78!!
  6. Good, because I really don't want to have to worry about that, lol Thanks!
  7. Out of curiousity, did anyones mother and mother-in-law coordinate their outfits, or does it not really matter? I'm asking because I've been reading too many stupid etiquette websites, lol, and they said that they should. But my mother and MIL have very different styles. Thoughts?
  8. Hi Mike, I can't answer your questions and am looking forward to hearing from others, but I just wanted to let you know in case you don't - if you like items from various Menu Options you can mix and match and Mayte will give you a new cost for whatever you come up with. I didn't like any option fully and was really happy to find that out. As for the rest, I'm curious about the answers as well!
  9. Hi ladies, I was wondering if someone could give me their opinion ... I'm trying to decide if I should wear a necklace with my dress,or just some earings and bracelet. My dress is lace and has beading on it, I am attaching a picture but please keep in mind I will be changing the neckline to sweetheart. What are your thoughts? On a daily basis I wear a chain with a pendant and never wear earings;I always have a couple of rings on - I'm pretty simple. I don't know what to do!! Will a necklace take away from my dress? THANKS!!
  10. Hey Meg, Do you by any chance have package info from Phil Steingard? Pricing, etc?
  11. Lauren - search 'Jellyfish Restaurant' in this forum, there's about 40 pages of discussion on exactly what you're looking for. Lots of pictures throughout.
  12. I guess I never posted my date!! I have done way too much this summer. I'm almost done and my wedding is 8 months away! lol
  13. Hi ladies, I am having my ceremony on the beach and was very lost as to what to do with shoes... not so much for me, but more for my bridesmaids. They have a knee length dress and obviously heels look better, but on the beach they would need sandals. I didn't want them to have to buy two pairs of shoes, so I decided to go with barefoot sandals for all of us. I decided to make them myself and thought I'd share. They are really easy to make, but time-consuming (about 1 hour for one pair). All you need is beads of your choice (from any bead store - many in Toronto!) and Stretchy Jewelry Cord (best is 0.5mm thickness) which would also be found at the bead store. If anyone wants instructions, I can come up with them I'm sure. Please don't pay attention to my poorly done toenails, lol.... the clear ones are for my bridesmaids (that way they can wear them again and again with any colour bathing suit) and the purple ones are mine (which no one will see anyway under my dress, lol).
  14. Hi ladies, First, thank you for posting these. My wording and the info I put in my brochure was based on several examples from here, so I hope mine will be able to help someone! I did these with Vistaprint (waited for free brochures and paid just for... and in case someone notices, yes, I'm really ahead of the game... but I have the summer off and wanted to get as much as possible done! I won't send them out until January
  15. Hi and welcome, You'll have to give some more details - especially which resort you're getting married at??
  16. Aww, I have size 7.... These are barefoot sandals: You can find many different styles and colours online.... and varied prices as well. My sister made these for all the women that came to her wedding and they are easy to make but very time-consuming. I vowed never to make them again after her wedding, but alas, I started to make them yesterday. Haha! But I'm only making them for my bridesmaids and myself. I thought it was a better solution for the girls because their dresses are knee-length and flats don't look great with that length but on the beach they can't wear heels. I felt really bad asking them to buy two pairs of shoes, so I said I'd get them these barefoot sandals for the ceremony and they can get heels for the reception. They were all happy with that
  17. Awww that's too bad! I think I'm going to return them now, haha. Just decided to make some barefoot sandals for the ceremony, so I think I will buy slight heels for the reception What's your size? Has anyone been to the Melia before?? Are there markets or vendors around? I want to buy my favours once I get there, but I have to make sure there's some markets!!!
  18. Hi ladies! I have finished my boarding pass invitations and they are out in the mail, woohoo!!! I got a lot of help from this forum so I thought I'd give back! Plus, it's nice to see some Canadian stores too Here's a rundown of how I made mine. Materials - Purple metallic paper from De Serres - $2.95/5 pack - Purple and orange ribbon from Michaels - $0.59/roll - I used close to 10 rolls (5 of each colour) - #10 envelopes from Staples - approx $9/pack of 50 - Paper cutter with scoring blade from Walmart - $20 - Corner cutter from Michaels - approx. $15 - Flower/Flamingo/Palm Tree brads (duotang like clips) from Michaels - $4.95/pack - I bought 3 packs - Exacto knife (had this already but needed more blades from Michaels) - Double sided tape roll from Michaels - $10 - Nail scissors - had these Other costs - Printed my boarding pass invites at Staples on their 100lb white paper - $74 for 80 Overall Cost: $210 Overall Time: approx. 10 hrs So, I made the purple envelopes very easily, not sure how much time they took because I did it while watching tv. I printed them myself at home, then cut a piece of the paper off the bottom, scored it, cut the diagnonal, folded it and taped it. Very easy! The boarding passes were cut apart with an exacto knife by my sister who is very good with these sorts of things. (I did not perforate, I just printed the dashed line). I then cut the corners with a corner cutter (very vital!!), cut the little part between the left and right side with small nail scissors (hardest part!), then poked the brads through (first I used a push pin to make a hole, then fed the brad through). My friend then placed the boarding passes in the purple envelope, tied ribbon around it and stuffed it into the outside envelopes. With the three of us, plus my own work doing the envelopes, the whole project took about 10 hours over a few days. Definitely possible to do it in one weekend. They are not PERFECT, but I am very happy with them and even though I spent $200, I would totally do it again! Some people will probably not appreciate them (MIL is very traditional and when she saw them she said 'Oh... they're... different'... LOL oh well!) but I think they're such a cute idea. Thanks to everyone that helped! Feel free to ask any questions!
  19. MNtoMX- these are the prices Mayte gave me for cake, and then for cupcakes: "The prices is 6 to 8 us per pax depends of the design [for a cake] and cup cakes, small size 2.5, normal size 3.5 us." As for pictures, Mayte really wants you to send her a picture of what you want, and she takes that to the bakery and they do their best to match it. She won't give you options - tells you anything is possible! I sent her a picture of a cake I found online and she said that she'd get it done (also said she had extra ideas that she thought I'd love... I said go for it ). Flavours, same thing, she just asked me and told me they could probably do anything.
  20. I sent my deposit months ago, and Mayte had asked for 10%. That would have been just over $600 I think and I just sent an even $500, she was fine with that.
