  1. Thank you for the compliment! It is currently a separate sash, but it is going to be sewn into the dress, so that there is no bow in the back and the corset looks good!! So you can definitely get that done for you! I'm just concerned because I am actually 'renting' the belt and am planning on doing a trash the dress session... and if the belt is sewn on I can't remove it for the session... I hope it doesn't get ruined!!!!
  2. Here is my dress, just came back from my first fitting so a few small changes have to be made.... and obviously that's not my hair will be like!!
  3. Hey Darcy, Check out the 'Jellyfish Restaurant' thread, there's tons of useful info there for you! Might be better than starting a new one, we're all there
  4. Thank you! How long was the meeting with Mayte??
  5. This is a question for those that have already had their weddings - if they are still reading this How long was the visit with Mayte before your wedding day? I'm cutting it kind of close because we land on Saturday and my wedding is on Monday. And now my flight times have changed and we don't get there until 10pm Saturday. I have a lot to do on Sunday!!! I have to put together the OOT bags, meet with Mayte, I wanted to buy favours in the Dominican, and have the welcome dinner. Starting to stress that it's too much to do! Thank you!
  6. I'm still pretty sure we're going to dance inside the restaurant, so really, anthing goes. If we decide to go outside, I'm definitely dancing in the sand! I just can't justify the extra cost for a dance floor. But the lit one is really beautiful
  7. Oh, and Venus, would you mind telling me how much Mayte quoted you for the lit up dance floor?
  8. I've actually wondered the same thing about the DJ... I haven't asked because I just assumed that he would do this, and I really hope he does. I'm sending my music list in alphabetical order; it would be awful played in that order. Will he mix it up and put songs together thant sound good together? Separate fast and slow songs? Thanks!!
  9. Hmm... photography shots, I didn't think about that. I think I'll just trust the photographer to figure that out, haha. What are you putting in your OOT bags? I got mugs from Discount Mugs as well. Shipping is awful to Canada but I couldn't find anything in that price range here anyway. Have you figured out gifts for your parents and bridal party? I'm having trouble figuring out gifts for my parents - they are separated so I have to get two gifts... for FIs parents, we are making a photo book of their family. I have NO idea what to get for our flower girl (1.5 years old), ring bearer (1.5 years old) and junior usher (7 years old). Do you have any children in your party? It's three months from today for me, ahh can't wait!!!
  10. I'm bringing down a photographer that my sister used when she got married a couple of years ago, he's awesome. I'm sure he'd be up for doing another session if anyone is there on April 24-27
  11. I'm in Canada - it was still a good deal! And the credit card was charged now, no surprises!
  12. Finally made a decision on the wedding band... it was hard to find one that fits my e-ring without going the custom route, but I think this one is actually pretty good!
  13. Planning is going well... can't believe it's only 3 months away!!! Crazy!! Still quite a bit to do. But I just received most of my OOT bag contents, my bridesmaid gifts and some other little things like paper umbrellas and fans. I'm starting to wonder how in the world we're going to get all this stuff down there, lol! We did end up switching the whole wedding to the Jellyfish though, and I'm excited about that. My biggest concern right now is my wedding band... still haven't found one, and my e-ring is very hard to fit a band to. I may have to go with custom and I just don't want to spend the money, haha. How are is your planning going??
  14. We just got all our GM and groom clothes at Tommy Bahama... but we're not going very formal; we got silk/linen pants and silk shirts. Tommy Bahama has a nice selection of linen as well. There's one in Oakville, and one in Bayview Village. The outlet in Vaughan Mills isn't as good.
  15. Hi Krista! Welcome! What resort are you staying at? You're getting married 5 days before me!!
  16. jlarruda - for the sides, you get both right?? Not one? The menu seemed like it was potatoes OR veggies but that doesn't make sense... just want to confirm with you to not bug mayte with such small questions, thank you also, i dont know if you can give me your opinion on this, but do you think this is enough food for 45 people for the appetizers? 20 butterfly shrimp 5 plates of antipasto (they say its for 4 people) 5 plates of chorizo (spanish sausage) (also 1 plate for 4 people) 15 beef brochettes 15 chicken brochettes THANKS
  17. I just received my order from Oriental Trading - and I am in Canada. I ordered assorted tote bags, flip flop notepads, beach balls, raffia fans, bubble bottles, activiy pad assortment for kids, love playing cards, small water guns, and tropical pens. I haven't taken everything apart and probably won't until we get there but everything looks great so far!! The quality is better than I would expect for the price I paid... it's not amazing but it's not very cheap either. If you have questions about any specific item, please feel free! About the shipping to Canada - I don't think it was that bad... my order came to $242.33, tax was $32.44, duty was $6.94 and shipping was $38.00 - total was $319.71 Now, I have not been charged on my credit card yet and am hoping for no surprises.... but I didn't think it was that bad, especially compared to anything I could get in Canada... no prices compared. Just my two cents
  18. I just love dealing with Mayte and the Jellyfish. Everything always seems too good to be true, but is It does sound like a great deal... it's $600 all together, right?
  19. I am going to use the Jellyfish DJ, and I have talked to a few past brides about it - the reviews of him are fine, but most brides provided him either with an Ipod or a list of specific music, which is what I'm doing. Apparently if you send Mayte a list of songs, he will get them all and play them properly, so that sounds good to me! There is also one person in his crew who will do the announcements, so that's great! Not sure when you tell him what to say and when... I imagine you might tell Mayte the day before... I figure it will all work out, haha. DJ Mannia is just WAY too much money for me. And it also seems that if your party goes over time, Mayte doesn't charge extra for her DJ.
  20. Hi ladies, Quick question for those of you who have been to the Jellyfish... is there security there? One of my silly guests has expressed concern about going 'outside of the resort' which is ridiculous considering the restaurant is in between resorts, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks!
  21. I think I'm going to stick with a set menu just because a lot of my guests are used to 'traditional' receptions and I think it will keep a slightly more 'fancy' feel, but that's just my guests... as for the alcohol though, I have NO idea how to figure out which option will be cheaper for me! How do you make this decision? I will have 43 adult guests total, of which 35 will probably drink a lot... lol. What do you guys think?
  22. I sent you the Jellyfish menu, I had asked Mayte for it recently!
  23. Hmm, never thought about the length... I did pick somewhere over the rainbow... how long would you ladies say the walk is? If you go slow...
  24. Hi ladies, I posted a while back about my ring dilemma and whether I should go with this 'non-traditional' wedding band. Well, I still have not decided! I thought I'd ask one more question... do you ladies have any ideas what kind of wedding band would look nice with this e-ring? (I only have a picture with the band on this computer but just look at the setting of the e-ring!). Does this three stone setting have a name?? Any suggestions would be very appreciated!!! Thank you!
