  1. I probably should post hehe. My wedding is on the 22nd of December at the Tulum beach (the one in pic couple of posts down) Followed by a beach dinner at the same location. I'll post a review once it happens, as seems that nobody here got a beach dinner instead of a the one at the restaurant..
  2. nope, you're not alone. I bought my shoes waaay before I even figured out what kind of dress I want. Made it easier to decide on the dress.
  3. I will be buying a short mini-dress for the reception. My wedding dress drags quiet a bit and it would drive me nuts to have it on all day. Plus I will get to wear it again for the TTD the next day.
  4. I found deciding on "must have" features helps a lot. For example what color, style etc. you want. train or no train, strapless or with straps/sleeves/etc. For me must haves where: 1. bright color, preferably orange or yellow or red: 2. not sleeveless 3. light chiffon. Then I fell in love with Roberto Cavalli's collection, from I think spring-summer this year, and so I wanted the dress with either his pink floral pattern or blue feather pattern. After that it was a matter of time to find the right dress from that collection and for a right price. I did try on random dresses during "in between" period, but it was mostly to see if there was a substitute. But as I said: first decide on the "must have" features, then perhaps on fabric, color and so on.
  5. @lesee yea, I was looking at something similar @ victoria's secret. I was not sure if it would work, but now that I know it does - awesome!!
  6. my parents and FI's parents are paying for the entire wedding. So I guess it would be my mom that paid for the dress.
  7. i'm wearing relatively high heels. In my experience sand and heels is not a problems, since I walk hill first, so it would feel kind of like wearing flats. It's the sand in the shoes after you get out of sand is the problem.
  8. I like the top on the second one. It looks very nice on you. But the flower placing is... odd. So my vote goes to the first one.
  9. @Tiger & JBean - Thank yoU! The dress is only unforgiving when i move - it's too thin. But on the bright side - i won't be baking in it.
  10. The dress came in. (two more shots: 1 & 2. padron the funny composition, i don't have a full height mirror at home) It's much more unforgiving then I thought. The two layers of silk chiffon do nothing in terms of protecting the figure. Everything that i have on underneath shows right though. and i mean EVERYTHING. So i guess I'm stuck with sticker underwear and not leaving gym till the wedding day heh.
  11. I wear a fake wedding band when I travel to eastern europe and asia. Mostly because there is no such thing there as "engagement ring" and wedding ring is worn on the right hand instead of left. But i wear both rings then (right and left hand), so I'm not sure that counts.
  12. I think I tried on about 20-something or so before I completely gave up on buying one in the store. Though about half of the ones I tried on was only to amuse my friend who shopped wth me, I did not even consider buying them.
  13. I got the dress!! It's this one here: http://www.theoutnet.com/product/65058 I'm a bit worried since I winged and bought a size smaller then I normally wear (it was the only one available) But since it's a loose fit, I should be fine (*crosses fingers*) Now I have to wait for it to get here.
  14. Got a letter from Bahia. Arrecife studios that it. It appears there is no problem bringing an outside photographer as long as the photographer stays at the resort like the the rest of the guests. Hotel will require some information about the photographer, but overall - it shouldn't be any problem.
  15. @Sunshine O! That's better. I did send an email to my travel agent, requesting information about the outside photographer. Last time I checked (last year) outside photog. was allowed as long as I pay the fee and still book the site photographer. I'm perfectly fine with that. (the on-site photographers they have are actually pretty good, but they have this way of taking full body shots that make legs look very short) But booking the photographer in as a guest of the wedding to possibly get around that is an awesome idea. Since I REALLY REALLY do not want to go to a different resort - i like Bahia. I'm also probably going to book Ivan Luckie. He's awesome! (hopefully he's available in late Dec.)
  16. @sunshine So no outside photographer at all? even if I will pay for the resort photographer as well? Bummer, might have to reconsider the location then.
  17. We'll be staying together. We've been together for 10 years, staying apart just would be tacky; and I will need help with getting ready in the morning, and I don't think I would be able to tolerate anybody's presence other then his that early in the morning (he knows how to dodge things by now) .
  18. I kind of just sat down with my FI's parents and pretty much just told them that such-and-such, this is my estimated budget AND I'm expecting at least 50% contribution (On top of the second reception, that they are arranging). It turned out they where expecting that, just did not know how to offer their contribution. But no, it's not rude to ask, since it is a "joint family" event after all.
  19. I'm pretty much stuck with buying mine online, since no stores around here carry what I want. Though, good idea would be to go and see if you can try on any other dress by the same designer, as sizing and fit is usually the same for all of the dresses by the same designer.
  20. *lets hope it will let me post* Hello! *waves* My name is Vic and I'm getting married... on November 5th in Vancouver, and having the ceremony on December 22nd in Gran Bahia Coba in Mexico! It's nice to meet you all!
  21. Got the shoes! Ironically I was planning to go barefoot, but these are just awesome. Surprisingly comfortable despite very thin hill. P.S. sorry for the poor quality - phone camera is not that great.
  22. @Julie2011 I know it's not in the options. I'm just thinking about where physically we can put the tables etc. And what will the price tag on that be. That is if they will be willing to do that at all. The only place I can think of is the Coba side, by the beach volleyball nets.
  23. I have the same problem, though the only forum I've tried starting threads in was Newbies. Windows 7, tried in Opera, Firefox, IE and Chrome. Screenshot: http://pics.livejournal.com/fuzps/pic/003bdzgy
  24. I'm sort-of planning getting married in Coba late December, mostly because I've stayed there a fev times and there will be very few susprises. But, I was wondering if anybody knows whether it is possible to have reception dinner on the beach and not in the restaurant? Or possibly on the pierce? (Just dinner at the beach is on my husband's must happen list). Â
