  1. We are going with Molly from Creativent to handle our day of stuff, she is also handling our minister and all the decor arrangements, I believe we are using massive for our rentals not sure who's doing the flowers. It was an extra cost we built in as we didn't want to have to worry about all the rentals and all the little stuff on the day of. She has been beyond fantastic so far, making me feel very at ease and have zero concerns what so ever! Rebecca Davidson actually referred her as well as Danielle from crystal blue. Danielle used to be a wedding planner but now just handles the blog so no she isn't helping planning the wedding but has been a great resource for referrals and answers to questions I had before we hired Molly. Our wedding is super small, 18 of us in total, we are not doing a true reception if you will, we are having our dinner at Luca and then will be lighting the chinese sky lanterns off the beach after dinner. As far as music goes, we've hired Kate Allenger for our ceremony and cocktail hour, debating on bruinging her son in for the cocktail hour. He plays acoustic guitar that of which both of us love! We are bringing an ipod speaker system and will have music in our villa afterwards but no dj perse. As for salons I'm torn between spa to go and there's another one... can't think of the name right now, but will get back to you with it. Amazing how quick it's coming! Are you trashing your dress with Rebecca too?! Can't wait for it!
  2. Yey for another GCM Bride!!!! Not too far behind me... we are doing May 26th can't believe how close it is!!! We've decided to do our rehersal at Ortanique in Camana Bay, fiood is to die for but there are so many great choices! I can not praise crystalblueweddings.com enough!!! I would have been lost in all of my planning without that site and shes helpful if you have specific questions. Rebecca is really great for recomendations too! I don't think the other girls are active on here anymore, who have had weddings in the past unfortunately for us... Have you been to the island before? We went about almost a year ago and it was extremely helpful! My one word of advice is to check out other companies besides celebrations for decor. While they are very nice, do great work and commercialized, they are very pricey all things considered. I received a quote from them that was almost 2,000 usd above the company I am using. Just my two cents! Where are you staying?! Congrats and welcome!!!
  3. ayleebits.com has a very basic template that you can play with, i do believe a lot of girls have used that. I used powerpoint to design mine, while very time consuming, it was worth it compared to the prices online! Good Luck!!!
  4. You can do this with American too. I believe it was 10 guests have to book their flights directly through american to get the discount... We got the cheapest fares directly through US Air, just a thought for those using the discount sites, sometimes the airlines are cheaper directly.
  5. Simply Outstanding!!! It is so amazing to see your journey along the way to have a beautiful finish! You look stunning, the pictures are priceless and all the hard work you put into your event has absolutely paid off! Congratulations!!!
  6. Thank you! I wish I could have added colors or changed colors as they came out a bit more pink than I wanted but I made it work with the printed orange and pink paper. The only way I know of to change color is to slightly alter through powerpoint you can do that with images but because dreamstime uses already formatted jpgs. the color would change the background. I alos googled images for hours but ended up likig these the best which is why I paid for them...
  7. Thank you for taking the itme to write all this out! SO much detail and everything looks fantastic, excited for you!!! I am very curious how your sand ceremony holder comes out, I found one earlier a frame style if you will, but am concerned the sand wont stay in place on the way home! If you wouldnt mind sharing after you return?!
  8. Tori - You have been searching for navy blue heels for what seems like forever and these are perfect! The color is fantastic and the shoe will certainly compliment your dress!!! While the navy CL's made you giddy (what bride wouldn't be giddy over navy cl's?!) these are a perfect choice especially if you are wearing them for such a short time! Are you hemming your dress to the heels or flats? They look short enough of a heel where it shouldnt make that much of a difference with your hem right?! ps... have fun at your fitting!!!!!!
  9. Thank you Ladies!! I appreciate all the kind word surrounding my invites! My guests have raved, loved how "unique" they are, not unique to us because we see them all the time on this thread but... The only thing I would change is to do them on a laser printer. I have found that ink jet bleeds if even the tiniest spot of water goes on the paper. I'd be happy to share the template, minus the graphics, sorry, I paid a pretty penny for those flowers through dreamstime. I plan on using them throughout my entire stationary suite. Send me a pm
  10. Thanks for posting!! I was on the fence about the darker bottom but knowing they run a bit big, I'll just go a size down... Love how vibrant they are! HAve to order before the free shipping goes away..
  11. We just did ours too!!!! So exciting! Was able to find a flight down that didn't involve changing planes at our layover so I dont have to drag my dress and his suit through the airport!!!
  12. I did my STD's as luggage tags from etsy designer Mavora back in July these coincided with the launch of our website, that of which was included on the STD tags. I just recently sent our our boarding pass invites, designed them myself, printed etc... Indeed a real labor of love but so worth it in the end! Saved me a ton of money! Our invites were really more of a formality as our families are the only ones in attendence and we already know who's going.... Will be sending out actual clear plastic luggage tags for our guests in March to get them excited! The boarding pass invites are super easy to make! Included a picture for you! I have a larger thread going with more details and pics in the DIY Thread...
  13. Thanks Sarah! The 2nd card was an rsvp card, asking to respond by Jan 1, 2012 and the third card was information about our stay, reminding guests to visit our website to get all the details. We are staying in condos - 3 bedroom villas - so FI and I already have the rooms booked, all they need to do is flights.
  14. Thanks! I made the template myself in powerpoint using shapes. I just made the line in a very light gray so I could see it while cutting... So far so good, my parents and sister have received them and loved them! They thought they were very unique! We forget being on the board how original of an idea it is because so many brides here do them them and the passport invites too!
  15. I printed them myself... I have an ink jet printer. The only draw back to doing these with an ink jet is that they are not water resistant at all!!! That includes dog drool, gross, I know but I have two boxers who shake their heads alot... yep it set me back a day and taught me a valuable lesson
  16. I would just buy two different size crystals and copy the picture... looks easy enough to do!
  17. Yey!!! Finally a date twin we also chose condos for our stay, just fits our needs perfectly! Congrats and welcome to the board, wealth of info here!!!!
  18. Love Love Love Love this! I too have been absolutely shoe obsessed, looking for the perfect sandal, flat, color, no bling (boring to some but not my thing) and these are perfect. What makes them that much more special is the story behind them! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
  19. Wishing you all the best for your wedding in Jamaica!!!! I know it will be beautiful and all of your guests will be blown away by all the hard work you have put into the personal touches!!!
  20. Apologize for the double post but I posted in the general invitations thread vs here in the DIY thread, definitely where it belongs! I started working on these months ago, the design process was by far the longest part, every time I opened the document I found something to change. I finally became satisifed and went to print. I used powerpoint to design as I am most comfortable with how the program works. I must give credit to aylee bits for the use of the barcode image, otherwise the design was all made from scratch. The tools were purchased from Michaels, in addition to what's pictured is a perforating tool and crystal brads Purple, Orange and White cardstock was purchased from Paper Source. Printed Scrapbook paper purchased at Michaels. Envelopes - 4x9 and 3.5x5 from Paper Presentation. Images (Graphics) from Dreamstime. Fonts from dafont.com Overall Paper Cost of each invite approx $2. I am so excited to get these out in the mail!!! We did luggage tag STD's in June, sending these out now with an rsvp of January 1st, then will mail out hard plastic luggage tags for our guests in mid March.
  21. These look great! Thanks for the site, I too am sending these out for guests in the same time frame and have been looking at vistaprint... Who doesn't love saving money!!! Great Job!!
  22. Thanks Ladies! I got the cardstock (purple, orange and white) from PaperSource. The printed paper is scrapbook paper from Michaels. Let me share a secret... scrapbook paper follows the same rule as bridesmaid dresses, it's not all the same. I searched every Michaels in my area I should say New England as I am on the road every day for work, every Michaels had a different color version of this paper - if they even had it at all! Finally, I found a store that was brand new and bought up 60 sheets of it as it was all the same, this may have taken me longer to find than designing the invites themselves! The envelopes are from paper presentation. I knew I wanted to do envelope liners and this was the only company I could find that did square opening for a 4x9 envelope. I have included a reply envelope on the back of the folder so they can return their RSVP. you just cant see it from the front
