  1. My Lovely Bridesmaids: I'm going with malibu blue, chartreuse green, and white as my colors. Both of my bridesmaids chose different dresses in the same color. This dress will be in Malibu blue as well, this is just the color they had for her to try on: Dresses are David's Bridal. Suits: Ordering from Studiosuits.com- I'll post pics when we get them! Some color Examples: My apologies for the mess in these pics- took them at my mom's house. I ordered these as samples from efavormart.com. Overall I was happy. The prices were great. Seams were not always perfect, but I decided for the price it wasn't that big of a deal. I ended up buying all of my sashes, napkins, and table runners from them in turquoise and sage green. Chair sashes in apple green, turquoise, and sage green.
  2. So I feel it's finally my time to put my energy into a planning thread.... Enjoy! Our Story: My Fiance and I met about 8 1/2 years ago in college, and after finally forcing him to go to a party with me, we have been dating for the last 6 1/2 years. I enjoy the part where I asked him out! Haha! We now have a 5 year old daughter together, and can't wait to finally all share the same name! She refers to it as "our wedding." The Engagement: We were engaged on Thanksgiving of last year. The proposal story always makes me laugh because it's so normal and mundane. I've never had much of a thing for Thanksgiving, and I love that he found a way to make it special. We had Thanksgiving at our house and my mom took our daughter home with her so we could do Black Friday shopping the next day. We were sitting around on the floor looking at fliers and watching The Simpsons Movie, when he just started acting odd. He walked back into the room and told me he needed me to stand up, and then my phone rang. I went to answer it and just had the feeling something was up. I dawdled a little, and then went back into the room, where he proceeded to drop to his knee and ask me (with the Simpsons playing in the background.) Haha! It went from our normal life to such a special moment, just like that. We spent the rest of the night in bliss, playing speed Scrabble together. ** My favorite part of the story happened a few weeks earlier. I came home from work one day, and my daughter said "Mom, guess what?! We bought you a ring today!!" To which her daddy replied, "Um, no we didn't, what are you talking about?" Ha! Of course I had to ask her about it later, and she told me they went to a store, and the lady there put it in a box. My fiance always insisted on keeping me completely in the dark as to any engagement plans. I love that such a cute little girl foiled his plans! The Resort: We decided to go through Destinationweddings.com, since I was completely overwhelmed with choosing a resort. Overall, they have been good, but I don't think I would make the same choice again. I think we could have gotten someone much more attentive with a local travel agency. We wanted to give everyone a year to plan, so we are getting married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Montego Bay, Jamaica, on December 6, 2011. We will be staying there for 6 nights and 7 days, with 17 of us going in total. We can't wait!!! The Dress: Allure 8766
  3. My apologies at the awful quality of the first pic, but it's the only one I have that shows the sparkle my shoes really have! LOVE them!!!
  4. SOOOO.... the BD shoot was.... "interesting". HA!! The guys professionalism was great, but the setting was NOT. After I left I realized that I had not really gotten a lot of the shots that I wanted. He used a lot of vintage-y type backgrounds because that was how the place was set up. I would have rather posed in front of a blank background- I just didn't know what to ask for as we were doing it. I am excited to see the pics though. He showed me a few as we went along and they really did look great- but through the alcohol haze, I feel the need to see them again!! Haha!! At the end I did have a few specific props that I wanted to use and then we found a great background and I'm sure I will love those pics. I wish I could do it again so I knew what to ask for!! Oh well... now I just have to wait a couple weeks to see them!
  5. Gorgeous MrsTgun!!! Question for you- is there any way around those plates they have at Aunt Ruby's or are we stuck with them? I have chartreuse green napkins and those things are gonna clash like nobody's business!!
  6. Ahhhh!!! I've got my BD shoot tomorrow and I'm BEYOND nervous!! Worst part- it's at 7:30pm, so I have to survive a day of work and chaperoning my daughter's field trip before I can go get ready and get it done!! I am SO going to be ready for that bottle of wine I get to bring along! Otherwise, I am SO pumped I finally got a reception dress today that I'm happy with. I got my sashes and table runners a couple days ago, and suits ordered. I mainly have a TON of DIY stuff left to do. To add to things I'm doing a lot of the planning for my bridal shower as well (Love my mom buts she's clueless... . The main stuff is getting done at least!
  7. I remember being told the same thing- you need a wedding certificate. I just can't remember where I read or got the info. I'd check with your WC. On another note, I'm doing a garter but I'm making it- I found the lace/rhinestone piece that allows me to make the same one I wanted on etsy ($40+) for less than $10. BUT it's mainly just because it's pretty, and it's just for the FI and I. I won't be doing any garter toss or anything like that....
  8. I need to get on it and order the suits THIS WEEKEND!!! We're ordering from Studio Suits too. But at least I don't feel too bad knowing you just ordered yours as well! I'm hoping we measure right too. We basically need to tie down my fiance and his brothers and get the measuring done. They work 14 day shifts, so if I don't get them this weekend I'm in trouble!
  9. I'm doing a different flower/different color, and other than that just a diff color tie. PS. I hope you don't mind but I'm totally going to have to catch your wedding from afar! There's like 4 or 5 of us in a row starting the 3rd I believe- it would be so fun if we could all meet to share a toast at some time!!!
  10. Whew.... I've had a marathon planning/crafting weekend!! I finished my preparation/travel newsletter for my guests; checked into park and fly hotel rates (we have to drive 6 hours to Minneapolis to fly out from there and our flight leaves at 7 am); made a bunch of ribbon wrapped votive candles; ordered my sashes, runners, and napkins; ordered what will 'hopefully' work out as my reception dress; booked a boudoir session; and ordered some crystal centers for the fabric flower sashes I'm going to make. Like I said.... WHEW!
  11. I heard back from Nicole at the Suites yesterday regarding my ceremony time- (the documents said I couldn't have the ceremony on the balcony until after 5pm, and I was planning on 3pm). She responded that 3pm was fine, and I could have it on the balcony as scheduled. Basically, the 'star friends' have something that they do at 4pm, and so they usually schedule weddings after that. So.... WHEW!!! On a side note, I'm having a marathon wedding planning/crafting weekend... woohooo! Lol.
  12. Goooorgeous Jamie!!! You look AMAZING and SO happy! That's the most important part! =D

  15. Notice how suddenly we all have more to say?? The pressures starting!!
  16. So on another note, after looking at the final details page today, I am very frustrated. I think it is ridiculous that the WCs just change things at will. I've been planning a 3:00 lobby terrace wedding all along and according to this final details page, they don't allow terrace ceremonies until after 5:00!! This was not in the wedding details that I received or I would have been planning differently all along! Seriously, it's crap! Ugh!!!! I am trying to roll with it- I emailed them to ask if there's any wavering on this since the sun sets at 5:30 in the winter and I need to do pictures afterwards. And if I have to move to the beach, it's not the worst thing ever.... but then I wouldn't have spent $200 on shoes!!!!
  17. So I'm still debating on the whole BD shoot thing. I KNOW my fiance would love it, but it just makes me nervous!! Around here the two hour shoot and a 20 page "little black book" is $200, which is not bad, and I know I should just go for it.... On another note, I got a bunch of wedding related decor, etc, last weekend. Time to get down to business! I'm making my guestbook as well as a bunch of my other paper related stuff currently. I need to get in to get my dress altered yet, as well as order my fiance's suit. Those top my list of to-do's right now. I also got my flower ordered finalized last week. Whew!
  18. I'm thinking about a BD shoot also- in my area there is only really one place that does them- but they do a good job. You do your own hair and makeup (unless you bring someone) but they charge $150 for two hours of shooting and $50 for a 20 page book. Apparently this is pretty good from what you all were saying!
  19. Agh!! Another mishap! My wedding is in December and I ended up with two people having to go home a day early, but I can handle that in comparison to how things are going for you! Hope you're getting things figured out and feeling better!!
  20. Awwww.... I'm sorry!!! I'm beginning to think this resort just has TOO many weddings and is losing focus on helping each person make their wedding special. I really hope you can find a solution that makes you just as happy. If you do dancing inside everyone can always walk together outside at the end to let your wish lanterns go.... kind of like a "wedding procession." Hope things work out!!!
  21. WOW!!! K, this seriously doesn't even look like my dress..... I wish I had some of your curves to put in mine!! Lol. Seriously I like it even better on you!! You look gorgeous! =)
  22. Here is the quote I got from Godfrey today. He actually emailed back and forth with me all day in order to get it right. He originally had quoted about $710, and I let him know some changes I was willing to make in flowers and that I wanted to keep it under $500, and he got me everything I wanted at $490. My quotes weren't QUITE as good as DeAngelis2Be's, but I'm guessing that's because I didn't have such a large order. I'm happy with it! 6 Bridal Party 1 Bride's Bouquet $60USD Christanimums, Dendroium Orchids, Roses, Fuji mums green, white, little blue 1Groom's Boutonniere $10USD FuJi mum 2 Brides Maid's Bouquet $45USD each Christanimums Dendroium orchids, Roses 2 Groom's Men's boutonniere $10USD each Dendroium orchids 3 Tall arrangements $70 USD each with White Dendroium orchids with shells in the bottom 2 Small square vase arrangements $25USD each FuJi mums and leaves 2 small square vase arrangements $25 each with Green Carnation and leaves
