  1. Even if the scissors did leave a mark, it should be pretty easily covered. I decided to Nair my lip two days ago (I really don't even need it...lol) and BURNT myself with the stuff. So it shrunk the hairs and made me skin red, then chapped. Smooth going on my part!!! Hahaha! Decided not to do anything new! Got a pedi today and they misshaped my toe nails, which was awesome. I did get a pretty great mani though- the UV cured kind so there's no chipping on vacation. And I'm taking pole-ah-tease classes right now, and had one tonight, which did wonders for helping me feel better before I'm off. Exactly what I needed! My main issue is staying up too late with excitement, and not getting enough sleep!!!!! Good luck everybody who's headed off this weekend!!!
  2. Marlena- I will definitely try to catch it!!! MichCraw- I will be hiding in the shade for 3 days as well!!!! I brought SPF50 and I'm hoping that does the trick!!
  3. I'm ironing them and then rolling them to keep them nice. I could probably do it down there, but I'd rather get the stress out of the way NOW!
  4. Marlena, I leave Saturday too!! I hope to catch your wedding or run into you at some time- if you see me you'll have to say hi, since I don't know what you look like!! Haha!
  5. Hey ladies, does anyone know what they do differently with a "blessing" versus an actual marriage? I want it to feel as much like our actual wedding as possible (even though it isn't) and I was wondering if there were things they legally needed to say differently. Thanks!! Starrysim: Congrats!!!! I noticed a while ago that I missed your send-off and didn't get to send any "well wishes"! Glad it went great for you! Can't wait to see more pics! I leave in 6 days and reality has not set in yet!! Haha. I get the feeling it will take me until I'm sitting on the beach for it to hit.
  6. I am in full on "busy" mode. I got my necklaces done and painted shells almost done. I finished my glittered flasks this afternoon. I have yet to decide the pieces of my ceremony and do programs if I'm going to do them- I may skip them if time runs short. I also need to sit down tonight and get a song list together, in case our DJ isn't so great and needs help. I'm feeling like the most important thing to do now is start getting everything together to make sure I don't forget anything!! I also need to iron and roll all of my chair sashes, table runners, and napkins. Silly little details.
  7. Um, Kat, I envy you! I leave in a week and two days and I still need to do my guest book, programs, finish my bridesmaid's necklaces, work out ceremony details, make some DIY flasks..... and then pack and figure out music! Lol. Ahhhh the joys. I'm with you Brit, I don't have a clue what I'm going to do with myself when this is all over!!!!
  8. Well ladies, I'm LEGALLY married now. It was quite entertaining- I'm hoping anything that was going to go wrong already did! Haha!!! We got to the church (it's extremely small) and the heat was out, so it was 43 degrees in there. It actually has a wood burning stove in the middle of the room, so we lit it and then had smoke burning our eyes. On the plus side, it was like camping, which I love!!! His parents made a mistake on the time, and showed up an hour late, so we waited in the cold by the fire for them. Also, his mom just had surgery two days ago, so she was loopy and could barely walk. Then the priest lost our book with the readings we had chosen, so we picked some more out of the spot. All in all, it was hilarious!!! I also cried during his vows, which his dad was right there to photograph- those will be lovely!! LOL! Anyways, I'm hoping the next go-round is a little smoother!
  9. On a totally random side note, check out this gorgeous family I get to marry into!!! My FMIL is the middle left, I'm far left, and the other four are his sisters. One sister (who is 6!!) is not in the pic. He also has 5 brothers. Hard to believe his mom had all those kids!!!!!!!!!! I only hope my daughter is lucky enough to inherit those genes! LOVE this pic.
  10. Here are my finished travel packet contents!! I was SOOOOO relieved to get these handed out, and OUT of my sight!! I had plans for printing the names on the front of the envelopes in blue and green with starfish, but then I went to load the envelopes, and they were TOO BIG!!! Oh well, blue and green marker worked too.
  11. Next project: luggage tags! These basically went the same as my key card holders, up until the point when I laminated them. Finished product: The back has the same white paper, with printed name, address, and telephone number.
  12. Here's one I forgot. My mom made Cherry Dreamsicle Fudge (super easy) and we cut them into squares, put in cellophane baggies from Hobby Lobby (like 100 for $2) and tied with ribbon. I cut out two circles and glued together, then stamped them. The thanks and flower were part of the same stamp. Got it at Walmart for $1. This whole project (20 favors) probably cost less than $7. And the more you make, the cheaper they get basically.
  13. I have to admit, my mom did set up the table and family brought most of the candy. I made my DIYs ahead of time, and promised my mom that I would leave the set up to them!! She had good intentions for helping the rest of the time, but doesn't totally get my style, and I didn't want to have her spend a ton of money on it. I wish I could show you guys the prizes though!!!! We didn't take a picture of them. My mom found a TON of pink and black things- planners, calendars, little books, pedicure sets, etc. Everyone took home several little gifts, and we still had leftovers!!! BTW ladies, one of my favorite (AND EASIEST) things I did was the candy bar sign. If you have a font you love (in Word), just go into the font pop-up and choose EMBOSS. Then change colors as you like, or go bold or italic if you need to. Print, frame, and you're done!! My font was "respective" which I downloaded.
  14. Aww Jacki, you get to come back from Jamaica to my reality!! I live 2 1/2 hours from Fargo, and trust me, it's going to be a COLD slap in the face! I've been dreading the coming home part since we started planning!!! As far as bridal showers go, I pretty much threw my own last weekend. It went really well overall, but when it was all over I was asking myself why in the heck I drove myself crazy with little details!?! If anyone wants to see a few pics I added them to my planning thread. On another note, I spent the afternoon in a last meeting with my FI's priest, who is doing our official ceremony this weekend. He is really ruining it for me! To give him credit, he's 85 and very traditional, but it's so frustrating!! We're only having our daughter, his parents, and my mom at the actual legal wedding. We aren't telling anyone else (that's right, you're all in on the secret!! . Haha. But he keeps saying he doesn't know where he went wrong with us and apparently he didn't get through to us since we're doing everything backwards, and should be having a big party and wearing the dress in the church. Keep in mind he's Catholic. But ugh!!! We just want to enjoy our moment! We are incorporating God very heavily into our Jamaica ceremony as well, but since it's not Catholic he scoffs at it. Trying to focus on us and what we want and not worry about him, but it's a tough fight!
  15. And here is how it all came together: And one of me, in the five minutes they could get me to wear the crown: It was a blast!!!
  16. Alright, time to take a little break from the wedding and greens and blues for some bridal shower pinks and blacks! Here are some of my DIYs: Pom-poms: Drink Stirrers: Banner: Sign: Paper Garland: Fondant for the cupcakes:
  17. I have a TON of stuff to add soon!! BUT... my bridal shower/bachelorette party is this weekend and I am doing so much stuff for it, I don't have time to breathe!!! I guess that's what I get for being such a control freak. I'll try to get to it on Sunday when I'm in recovery mode!
  18. So I got my BD shoot pics yesterday...and I guess you get what you pay for! I did use the only person in my town who does them, but I was not impressed. Instead of feeling good about myself while looking at them, I was thinking "wow, I look that bad?!" The lighting ended up showing every imperfection on my face, even ones you don't usually see when looking at me. There were a few pics I liked, but not many. I can't decide what to say to him. Should I ask if he can retouch further??
  19. In the info that I sent out I just included the main excursion website: jamaicantoursltd.com, and instructed them that in order to get pricing they would need to select the resort.
  20. So I got the weirdest email from Nicole last night. I emailed her asking for the final details sheet since our wedding is now 5 weeks away. She replied to me like I was a travel agent getting it for my client. A long email about how things would go with "my client" and that "they" could be in direct contact with her if they wanted. There was absolutely NOTHING in the way I wrote that would give that implication, as in: "Hi Nicole, our wedding is in 5 weeks and I still need to fill out a final details sheet. Could you send me one? Thanks!" Hahaha. It sucks that they're so busy that there is absolutely no personalization of service until wedding day....
  21. I'm with you Praye!! They gave my mom quite the run-around lately. Basically they could have saved her $500 (she took out on her retirement to go to the wedding), and she could have paid $1400 instead of $1900 for just herself, for the same amount of time by booking another related guest into her room. They told the other guest it wasn't possible to book in with her, and proceeded to book the guest into a room with two other people. It would have been exactly the same to put them in with my mom, and saved her money. Worst. Decision. Ever. Wish I could rethink this one!!
  22. My project for the evening- makeup bags for my female guests. I got the bags and iron-ons at Hobby Lobby. I seriously went EVERY SINGLE DAY for a while and bought every bag with a 40% off coupon, as well as the larger iron-ons. The small bags came to $3.20 with coupon (plus $1 for rhinestone iron-on) and the large ones came to $4.50 (plus $1.90 for iron-on). Pretty cost efficient!! I literally bought every bag Hobby Lobby stocked, so I did the larger ones for my future MIL and mom, as well as my bridesmaids. I knew my daughter would have to have one too! I have one bag left for make, for the MIL. These were a little tricky to get down though. Because of the texture of the bags, I had to thoroughly heat the iron-on, and then immediately push the rhinestones into the fabric with gloves to get a good bond. It probably took 30 minutes to do them all, at most.
  23. So here's a peak at how my tea light candles will travel- I put the candles in the holders and put them back in the tube from Ikea- perfect!!
  24. I got the fonts from 1001freefonts.com. The downloading is simple- just click the button. The hard part was unzipping the file and installing the font. I just googled what I needed to know. I ended up having to play around with my computer a bit to get it. I started to give you detailed instructions, and then realized that they would probably only make sense to me!!
  25. Does anyone know the cost for having your dress or suit steamed at the Suites? Just wondering. I'll ask Nicole but I thought this might be a quicker option!
