I have similar hair and eye colouring and I am absolutely loving the colour you used on your lips. Would you be able to tell me what you used for your lips? Thank you so much! I actually did my makeup myself, after a hair and makeup trial down here in Playa Del Carmen didn't go so well for me. I just wasn't willing to pay $500+ for my hair and makeup from the top people down here, so I looked for more affordable options. The girl I found that was cheaper didn't do a terrible job, but it definitely didn't turn out good. A friend of my husband's who is a hairdresser ended up gifting me my updo, and the makeup that I applied myself is mostly from MAC. The lip colour is "Plumful" and I used their "Soar" lip pencil. I coloured my lips in with the pencil fully first, and then put the lipstick on top. Doing that helped it stay on a bit more. The photos make it look a little more pink than it is in person, it's actually a bit more plum coloured. (Hence the name Plumful haha) Here's a photo for reference: I forgot to mention, I know it doesn't apply to you csho or tricia-m since you're both getting married elsewhere, but if anyone else that is getting married in the Mayan Rivera happens to read this thread... I've started a little decor rental business with the items from our wedding, plus some other rustic vintage decor I've managed to pick up along the way. I have lots of mason jars, lanterns, a couple of birdcages, lots of bottles and vases, all at a very fair price. No jacked up wedding prices!! If you want a Style Me Pretty or Ruffled type of wedding without a huge price tag, I'm your gal. Please PM me for more info!

They did an amazing job. We have a photographer already but he has a very similar style/feel. I am definitely going to show him your beautiful pictures as an example of how we want our wedding portrayed. THANK YOU for responding. I'm still shaking my head in amazement. Your wedding was beautiful. Best wishes to you and your husband. Wow, thank you so much! Your words are so kind, I don't even know what to say. I'm very happy that our wedding in inspirational for you! We put a lot of work into it, many sleepless nights writing (very long) emails to our wedding planners and endless crafting. It was definitely the happiest day of our lives and we're so happy we have such wonderful photos to look back on when we're old! Crazy that you're from Winnipeg! I actually found them on this site through a post from a fellow May 2013 bride from Winnipeg that was getting married in Jamaica. Funny how things work, isn't it. Our blog posts aren't working right now because our photographers are working on their website right now, but they should be back up soon. I wish you and your husband the happiest wedding day and a beautiful marriage. Be sure to come back here and post pic for us!

At least it'll provide a little bit of order to the process but enough freedom to let people choose their seats. Haha, Oh I know all about stuffing things in luggage! Our last 6 or 7 trips home to Vancouver and to California to visit family have been at least three suitcases, plus carry on duffel bags. The move down here was FIVE suitcases plus carry on duffels. Between bringing things down for our wedding this past May bit by bit and shopping for all the goodies that aren't available down here (Forever 21!!) my husband is wondering what happened to light, easy travel! A thing of the past, I tell him. I've also started a small decor rental company with all the things we used from our wedding, so I have excuses to keeping bringing more things down here, even post wedding. Lanterns and mason jars galore!

Those aren't our professional photos, just a guest of ours who is a professional photographer down here that took them. I'm so happy she brought her camera! You call the foot jewelry barefoot sandals, and these are the ones I bought: http://www.etsy.com/listing/118146078/beach-wedding-barefoot-sandals-foot There's lots of options out there, but I found this store to be the most affordable without compromising quality. I did a LOT of research!

I fly with United and West Jet mostly, but check the rules on your airline's website, or ask your travel agent, if you have one. A little trick for weighing bags at home that some may not know - weigh yourself on your scale, and then weigh yourself holding the bag. Minus your weight from the you + bag weight and you have the weight of the bag!
  6. A little update for anyone who stumbles across this thread! I now have a total of 42 mason jars of various sizes and patterns for rent, mostly 16 oz & 8oz. Please send me an inbox message if you are in need of mason jars down here in the Mayan Riviera for your wedding. Happy planning!

I'm ok with not assigning seats, but assigning tables might be fun to mix up the groups a bit. If you need a hand with the piñata and candies down here ahead of time, let me know! I live down here and can source one for you. Our wedding planner strongly advised against not assigning people to tables at all. She said she's seen it happen before and it turns into a bit of a mess! People like to know where they are supposed to be during weddings, very similar to herding sheep. Assigning tables also helps avoid having too many or too little people wanting to sit at the tables and ending up with uneven numbers at the tables and people moving chairs and place settings around to accommodate the table they chose to sit at. Assigning groups to tables and then letting people sit where they want at the assigned table worked great for us though!

It depends what you consider cool, but the coldest I've seen it get here means putting on leggings and a long sleeved shirt instead of shorts and a tank top. The lowest it gets is around 20°C, or around 70°F. Plus it is quite humid, so it feels even hotter than that. The beach can get quite windy, so if you're down there at night you might need a pashmina or something, but for the most part you'll probably be fine. Don't worry about a cover up for your wedding night though! The excitement, wedding dress, booze and dancing will keep you sweating all night long.

Maybe you could put a peacock feather in each table number frame, with a number/name in front in teal? That would look great! I also agree on assigning people to tables but allowing them to sit wherever they'd like at that table. We did the same thing and it worked great! Guests love direction at weddings and being told where they need to be and when (without this there would be chaos), but I think people appreciated being able to choose their own seat at their assigned table.

Our Colors are purple and teal with peacock and although we don't have any decorations or centre pieces we r bringing, it would be cool of there happened to be some items from other brides that may fit for us too! I will be posting a detailed review on here after our wedding and will let you know how everything goes Thanks for passing my name along Amanda! MrsShorey, please send me a PM with your email address if you'd like to see the items I have for rent. I priced everything fairly, rather than through the roof like most resorts and vendors down here!

I live down here in Playa Del Carmen (about 30 mins from Moon Palace) and I have been renting some of my decor from our May wedding to brides at an affordable price. PM your email if you're interested in seeing a price list and photos of what I have for rent! Best of luck to you my dear, and don't stress - you got this.

What all have you started planning so far? We're SUPPOSED to get our RSVP's back next week so I hope to wrap up planning here soon. Crazy how it all goes by so fast. Hey there! I live down here in the Mayan Riviera, and I can tell you that the weather is usually great from November to May. The rainy, extremely hot and humid season starts end of May and lasts until the end of October. You picked a really great time of year to come! It has been raining here for pretty much a month straight, but the last few days have been very beautiful. Nothing is ever guaranteed in terms of weather, but usually if it does end up raining it passes quickly and the sun comes out again. Don't bother checking the forecast for this area, it is never correct. Even the current conditions are usually wrong.

I'm Canadian, and I also ordered from Discountmugs.com, since their selection and prices are so great. The shipping to Canada is much more expensive than the shipping to the US though. However, my Dad lives in California so he was able to bring them down to Mexico for me. How close to the border do you live? Maybe you could get them sent to a place just across the border? I did this for my string lighting from Target.com and it worked out great, not very expensive either. Here's a photo of our bags with our logo we gave them to print on them:

We'd also love suggestions for wedding planners/coordinators that might be able to help us locate a great venue and coordinate catering/rentals. Thanks for any suggestions! Lindsay Hey Lindsay! Have you considered renting a villa and using it as your wedding ceremony & reception location? I'm not sure how many people are coming to your wedding, but if you have a smaller wedding a villa would be a great option for you, since you would have to have the reception catered. We ended up with 72 guests so renting a villa wasn't the route we ended up going, but I did lots of research on possible villas in the area during the beginning stages of our planning. PM me if you'd like some more info!

My friend is a great photographer and has very reasonable rates. (Around $1500 for about 8 hours of shooting) She wasn't our main photographer because we wanted her to enjoy our wedding as a guest and not have to work, but she took a few photos of us casually that turned out amazing! Her name is Susana Hidalgo and her company is called My Adorable Bridal, http://www.myadorablebridal.com. 21. Here's our cake and cupcake tower! For those we used Zaida of Dolcet bakery: http://www.zaidamarcos.com/ She was a pleasure to work with and I love what she did with the cupcakes. Sometimes it took a while for her to write back to my emails. That seems to be the norm down here in Mexico though, and I have come to accept it. The lace cupcake wrappers were bought on Ebay and I gave them to her to set up when she delivered the cupcakes. We also had cotton candy which was stuck into our vintage trunk on a pole. We got this from a local vendor in town. The cotton candy held up through the night but by the morning the leftovers were a plastic bag of melted, wet sugar!
