  1. I love the way you designed it with the text in lighter coloured boxes over the photo in the background - very professional looking!
  2. Wow, it never occurred to me to pick a date that meant something to us - we were coordinating with FI's slow time at work, his parents' work schedules, and not being too close to Christmas when we chose November 8th.
  3. We aren't doing much in the way of OOT bags and decided to 'splurge' on the luggage tags with a pre-travel newsletter. I've decided to try to sew them (found a pattern online) and was able to buy all the supplies for what will work out to less than $1 per person. For me it's more about the process rather than the product though, and I intend to be proud of myself when (if?) I finish them. Whenever my FI and I are discussing if we should do something or not, we remind ourselves that none of these people have been to a DW and so they aren't expecting anything, so we are not feeling guilty when we decide to skip something.
  4. Wow, thanks for posting! It's nice to see a great find for us Canadian brides!
  5. Since it's the heart association, you could do a small bag of cinnamon hearts or those heart candies with messages on them - they wouldn't melt!
  6. We very clearly told our guests not to bring any gifts or any money for us to Mexico, since we didn't want to have to keep track of it all. I hadn't thought about cards though, and I agree that if I was attending a DW I would take a card!
  7. Great thread! Most of the kids coming with us are under 18 months, so I'm struggling with ideas. This has been very helpful!
  8. Hi ladies, I bought my dress this past weekend and now I need to make a final decision on my shoes. I've picked the shoes (from an etsy seller) but can't decide if I should get the off-white (classy and elegant) or the blue (fun and matching my wedding colors). Help! Here is the dress, These are the shoes I am getting: This is the color I'm considering:
  9. The labels are all taken! Thanks for taking them off my hands ladies!
  10. With only 135 days to go, I bought my dress yesterday. It's a brand new 2012 Pronovias. They got it in the night before, I was the first person to try it on, and they agreed to sell me the sample because I don't have enough time or order it in. I absolutely love it and cannot wait to wear it again!
  11. Hi ladies, Have any of you found single-serve pouches of gatorade or some other sports drink to include in your hangover kits? I'm having trouble finding them in amounts smaller than a case of 144. Thoughts?
  12. Hi ladies, I ordered labels from vistaprint for kleenex packs in our OOT bags. I ordered them as return address labels (because they were free!) and so I'm getting 140 and only need 20. If anyone is interested in taking some, they're free (just pay for shipping). I'm located in Calgary if anyone would like to just pick some up. I ordered them today so I don't expect them to arrive for a while. Tears of joy Tears of laughter Tears of happily ever after
  13. We are also working with Amy at Romantic Planet, but our experience hasn't been nearly as positive as yours. Our frustration with Amy almost caused us to cancel our destination wedding. I don't know if we are just really complicated in our situation, but the original deal she quoted us fell through after she charged the deposit (apparently the company that provided the quote didn't check to see if there were any rooms avaialble before they gave us a rate), and then she told us it was non-refundable, so we ended up booking some of our guests with her anyway just to not lose our $500, but she doesn't provide them with any confirmation of anything, doesn't even let them know she got their info, and she certainly hasn't saved them any money (our guests who used book-it.com got a MUCH better deal with way less hassle).
  14. Hi Calgary ladies, For anyone looking to book a boudoir session, LivingSocial has a deal today for $79 for a 1-hour session including one print. I've already had my shoot so I can't use it but maybe some of you can! Session has to be used by November 2011. http://livingsocial.com/deals/47236-boudoir-or-maternity-photo-session?msc_id=67
  15. Hey, your wedding is the day I arrive at Jade, and I get married four days after you!
  16. For eyebrows, I use Edges up at Crowfoot. For bikini, I prefer sugaring to waxing. She's not in the NW, but I use Maika at Gimme Some Sugar. She is AMAZING, totally worth the longer drive.
  17. It took us a long time to decide what to get for everyone, but have made the final decision now! We got everyone in the bridal party really nice sunglasses (Burberry) which we think will be awesome in some of our wedding photos! We also bought Steve Madden flip flops for the guys and terry cloth slipper flip flops for the girls. It's about $260 per person, but we feel they are worth it. It's one of the biggest items in our budget after photography.
