  1. I would start by looking at their wedding locations at each of those resorts and see if any of them is THE place you want to get married. Also, I would make a list of what you want from the resort you stay at (ie.luxurious rooms, spa discounts, lots of activities, intimate atmosphere, comp. wedding, beautiful beach, etc.). That should help you narrow them down one by one.. hopefully good luck and happy planning!!!
  2. Does anyone who has had their orange/fuschia wedding or has already made all their finalized their decor, etc, have more pictures to share of both bridesmaids and groomsmen? I have some ideas in my head, but it would be great to see some in real life. Also, if any of you could also post your reception table centerpieces, it would be a big help Thanks ladies!
  3. Thank you SOO much Perry and Tanya for recommending Teresa!! She has been so much easier to work with and SO thorough. I feel like I know more than I did working with the other TA - and I've only worked with her for 2 days!! I wasn't really presented with as much options with our old TA. I have no complaints so far with Teresa either and glad to announce that we are now officially working with her. She has submitted our contract to PP, after she gets it back from them in a few days, we will be signing a contract (FINALLY!), sending her the money and we will be ready to roll! I'm so excited! Thanks again you two!!!!!
  4. Thanks Perry!! He said he would look at the rates again. So, I'm gonna give him one more shot before I am forced to make a switch.
  5. Hi again ladies! I'm getting a little worried about the prices that I received from my TA. The prices were ok with us until we looked on search engines such as Expedia. Their rates seem cheaper than the TA's, by a little over $200!! Also, my TA has told me that if I book a certain number of rooms, that it may not be possible to release the rooms, if there are any left over that aren't used! I'm freaking out a little here. I want them to book with our TA for our group rates, but now I'm considering working directly with the resort - even the resort website w/ airfare seems alot cheaper! Any advice from you all would be greatly appreciated right now. Also, he has been slow with his responses and they aren't thorough or hold much information for me to make final decisions. I really want these packages to go out soon, as we are sending out our invites on Monday morn. I put down $250 to use him (this is going towards our stay), but it isn't refundable. HEEELLLPP!!!
  6. Hey ladies! Do any of you know if they sell fresh fruit on 5th Ave or in walking distance of the resort? I also need to find a florist for just a few single cut flowers. I want to use oranges (or tangerines/clementines) and possibly raspberries in my centerpiece along with a single fresh floral bloom (for each table). If you've been before and you've seen either, let me know
  7. I really wanted to do this too at first. But, the fans that I liked are just about the same amount as if I were to buy each of them bouquets (from the resort) If any of you ladies can find it for cheaper, please keep us posted! I still really do like this idea, just for some reason thought it would be more economical.
  8. I'm going to look into the Shellac as well, but if worse comes to worse, pink and white acrylic will be used. Thanks ladies for the advice!
  9. Thanks for helping me Jamie! Here's the one we are going with. Its the closest I could get it to match our invites Dunno why it looks grainy here, but this is it!!
  10. Yes, I agree you should wait for the confirmation back from the resort. You won't know for sure what times are available if any for the days you have in mind until it has been confirmed. But your doing good by booking your wedding date early because you are more likely to get the date and time you really want I say don't listen to the TA with the 'destination/travel dates'. Your guests need to know the exact date and time of the wedding; they may want to arrive the day before and leave a week later or get there early and leave the day after or get there the day before and leave the day after. We don't know what they have in mind or whats more affordable/convenient for when they want to travel and personally I think it won't make them feel like they have to stay the same length of time, leave when you leave and get back when you get back. They may rule the whole wedding trip out if they assume that they can't go because they can't leave the same day or stay the same length of time. So, I say wait on the confirmation. Getting the confirmation letter is exciting and you will want to share the exact date and time, once its set and final Congrats in advance and happy planning!!!!
  11. That's all I've heard as well. And if those are the only choices, I'd say try to get it in the closet (I'm sure it will come out less wrinkled then if you were to have it put in the overhead bins). From experience traveling with a stroller, make sure that you get to the airport in plenty enough time and let the associates at your flights terminal know that you have a wedding dress that you would like to store in one of their closets if possible. Be courteous and I'm sure they will take it on for you before they start boarding people or make sure they have adequate room for you in one of the closets (or they may even have a hook they can hang it on somewhere up front). Whatever you do just make sure you let them know BEFORE they start boarding and I'm sure they will try and do everything they can to accomodate your needs ...I know its different from a stroller, but I didn't check my daughters stroller, just asked politely if they could accomodate it somewhere on board (before they started boarding) and they did (even with 2 other carry-ons). It stayed up front (not in overhead) and was up front ready for me to take when I got off the plane. I'm not sure if this is a common practice, but its worth a shot!
  12. I've been making some myself, but they aren't coming out how I'd like them to. Please PM if you can assist! Thanks!!!
  13. Welcome and Congratulations! I am also a June 2012 bride, but I will be getting married at Playacar Palace. We were looking at Banyan Tree Mayakoba; it looks very pretty! Just a lil too expensive for our guests. But, any of the ones you picked I'm sure will be great Just make sure you book your date ASAP with a resort, so you can ensure the date and time you want. Happy planning!!!
  14. I LOVE the pictures! And I also love the bridesmaids dresses; where did you get these? Or who is the designer?
  15. I'm walking down to 'Ave Maria' played by an Orchestral Mariachi. I've been to weddings where they play this song, but never when the bride walks down the aisle. Is this ok to use? I really love the song! Let me know what you all think.
  16. Ginger said it right. I'm using a TA with "All About Honeymoons" and he will be concentrating more on just getting us good rates with the resort for our group and the travel. Other than that, I'm going to be the one working directly with the WC from the resort on the actual wedding details. So, his services are free (other than the $250 we had to put down up front - which goes towards our stay). Blue Petal sounds like a good company to work with , but I would stay away from that LUXE one you mentioned (especially if they don't have good reviews). I would say stick with one's with only good reviews and have good BBB ratings
  17. I did that too (putting the colors in the natural light) and thought the same as you. The sales associate kept assuring me that the off-white will go, even after I told her my colors. I just don't get that. But, anyways, I too will go with the plain white
  18. When I say 'Optical' white, I'm just referring to the name of that designers pure white color (so basically a white that is not off; just plain old white) if that makes sense. But, no I don't think that the white's will be off at all. They are using plain white drapery and the chairs are the same color white (from looking at the pictures). I guess really what I'm trying to understand is why is it that everyone pushes off-white and pretty much tries to steer people away from the just plain old white. I mean I'm not trying to say any other color is bad, especially depending on the colors in your wedding and the theme. Like telling me I should where an off-white when my colors are plain white, orange and fuschia just seems not right. It doesn't flow and just seems awkward next to everything else in the wedding. I've worn white before and it looks really good against my skin color, just don't get why its so shunned.
  19. Thanks for sharing that! I think you look great in the all white! And yes, it does look nice with the pretty blue sky and also next to your MOH - it really makes the colors pop Our accent colors are fuschia and orange, so next to stark white these colors will look amazing! Kinda going for bright and not so much softer colors. And as far as traveling with a white dress, I was planning on transporting it with me in a garment bag, so hopefully that will stay in tack the whole way. I just hope I don't spill wine on myself lol! I think I'll stick to clear liquids the day of. Thanks again!!!
  20. We will have registries, but we are not mentioning them on our STD's or Formal Invites. Instead, we have included our wedding website on our STD's (you could even put this on your Formal Invites - depending on the formality). Our website contains a link to our registries. We weren't originally going to do registries, but like TropicLover mentioned - it was also brought to our attention that many people won't be able to make it, but will at least want to give you a gift in their absence. So, I wouldn't push the registry onto your guests by adding an insert, directly mentioning you have a registry, or expect any gifts, but I would definitely have one on your website for them to be able to go through if that is what they want to do
