  1. @@JoannaBanana Have you tried searching up top to see what comes up? There must be hundreds of song titles listed on this site - both older and new. Might find some inspiration somewhere here?
  2. @@nadiakat17 Hello and happy to see you stopping in! @@Berg999 If you decide to spend some time on this site, you'll see this is a very, very unfortunately common thing that I think all DW brides to be go through. For all the years I've been on this site (since 2010 I think) the one thing you'll find is that there is absolutely nobody - family or friend - that is as happy for you as you are and I don't mean that in a bad way. I've found with reading so many threads here that when it isn't your wedding, it isn't as important to anyone else but you and that's just life. It has a nasty habit of getting in the way sometimes. Having said that it comes down to what is absolutely the most important to you - having all of these friends and family members at your wedding, or marrying your sweetheart and for some people it does really come down to the choice. It did for us and nearly cost me the man I was marrying. I also got so upset that people were cancelling for what I felt wasn't a solid enough reason - something went wrong and it just snowballed and everyone thought they would lose the group rate so they bailed - and I was super upset. It was my fiance (then) that put his foot down and said this is what we want. It doesn't matter about anyone else and he was completely right. We went just the 2 of us to Jamaica and got married and then just had a reception at home. It was tough in a way being there by ourselves. The wedding coordinators - complete strangers - signed our marriage certificate. But when I walked down that beach path towards my guy, it all went away. Marrying him was what was most important, on a beautiful beach in Jamaica. And thanks to him we did that. The way I see it, it's all the people that cancelled that missed out. They lost the chance for a great family vacation together and they missed seeing us get married. We have beautiful photos that we played on a screen at the AHR and so many people made comments about how beautiful it looked and it's too bad they weren't there. I don't know if this helps at all. Believe me when I say I know completely how you feel. We did actually lose friends over it - the couple that were supposed to be our BM and MOH. They were at our AHR and we haven't spoken to them since. So I do know how difficult it is. All I can say is think about it. A lot. Only you can decide what is most important to you, and if that's having a DW then finding a way to look past how many people aren't attending is the only way that you'll be able to reconcile it all in your mind. You don't ever know totally and completely what's going on behind people's closed doors. There may be things going on that you don't know about. And you're not alone. I swear I think every single bride to be on this site that I've seen in more than 5 years has been through something similar. I know it's the most important day of your life but remember one thing - it isn't those people that you're going to be living with after the wedding. The person you're marrying is and the two of you are what's the most important thing of all. Good luck!
  3. @JoannaBanana Just personal opinion..... the last one just doesn't sit right for a wedding. The other two are great but I don't know about the other one.
  4. @tpenner The other ladies have pretty much said it all. I don't think there is anyone on this site that hasn't had some sort of guest drama in some way shape or form. We lost our whole group and we didn't have a lot to start with. In the end it was my husband I alone in Jamaica, which is really all that matters. Good luck. Absolutely try not to stress over it.
  5. @calgarybride2015@yycbride2016 Two gorgeous brides!! @@AlexC you can't get any better recommendation than that!!
  6. @ashhtayy I love the belt!! It's gorgeous!!! It will look great on your dress. I super, super LOVE the peachy/pinky colour of the maracas. I ordered ours from Amols as well (doesn't everyone?) and they turned out great. I ordered white, turquoise blue and hot pink.
  7. @@ashhtayy Ha Kim beat me to it! I was going to ask on the Etsy vendor too!! I love that idea of the song lyrics! Doug picked the song and picked the Ed Sheeran song (can't remember the name but it's the one everyone likes). I like Janelle's song the "By the Sea" one. But it would still be cool to have the lyrics done up. I'm in no rush either so I can wait. We have our sign that Perian did for us and she put both our wedding year and our anniversary year on it for us. I love it! So it would be totally cool to be able to have lyrics as well. I'm so sorry about your ring. That totally sucks! I hope they get it done in time for your shower! Get your dress out of that store for sure! I would be looking for somewhere else absolutely! If they're jerking you around at this point I wouldn't want to deal with them anymore. Love the bowties! And the pink colour! Doug would never wear a bowtie even though I think they're very cool. He's strictly a straight tie type of guy. lol
  8. @@AlexC There are several recent brides that had their hair done at the salon. You can look up calgarybride2015 and also Yycbride2016 They both used the salon and both had good things to say. If you do a search up top in the search bar, you should come up with other brides' threads you can read, or just go back through this thread too and do some reading. One of the best things I can recommend on this site is to read. There is so much information on so many things - the brides are very willing to share. Good luck!
  9. @@tlill123 Congrats and welcome! I'm not a Cabo bride but have been there and we love it! It's definitely a popular spot for brides. Some of the resorts there are absolutely amazing! If you don't already have a travel agent, you should contact Wright Travel. As Tammy noted above she's also a past Cabo bride and the reviews on the services by Wright Travel are great! Definitely worth contacting them to see how they can help you! Good luck and happy planning!
  10. @@aeisenberger Congrats and welcome! Absolutely a good travel agent is your first place to start. If you have to "interview" more than one, then do that. You need to be completely comfortable with your TA. Do you know what country you want to get married in? Do you have a budget? Do you have an approximate price point for your guests? Do you know what time of year you want? A travel agent will guide you through all of these things then work with you to put together options that will fit with what you have in mind - your don't wants just as much as your wants. Once you have a location in mind, you will need to find out if your date is available. Sometimes an agent can help you with that, others will allow you to work through that with the resort yourself. That's your foundation. From there you will begin to put small details together with the resort but the bulk of finalizing your details won't happen until about 3 months before your wedding. Are you sending save the date cards? Do you know how many people you want to invite? Generally, the rule of thumb is that for however many you invite, attendance will usually be in the 50% of that number range. Some brides have seen it be both higher and lower than that. Do you want to send invitations? Do you want a wedding website? A lot of things to consider, but definitely spend some time reading through the site. You can enter different things into the search bar at the top and then read what comes up. The ladies here are very helpful and you'll get tons of ideas and suggestions. You don't say if you're in the US or canada, but the owners of this site are destination wedding specialists and can work with brides on both sides of the border. I've attached their link below. http://http://wrighttravelagency.com/inquiry/ Good luck and happy planning!
  11. @SunshineDreamKay Wow - this is the first time I've heard of something like this. What about if you just make the wording a little bit more polite. Instead of "strictly by invitation only". I agree - it does sound a bit harsh. Maybe wording a bit softer. Maybe "please note this is an invitation only event due to limited space" (?) Probably not much help.... Good luck with this. I don't envy you needing to put together something like this!
  12. @@nankleiner @@BexA have you done a search on the main threads for this resort? There have been past brides that have been married at GSP. As well check the resort reviews. If you look right at the beginning of this thread there is a link to a brides' thread that was just married there last June. She did an awesome planning thread, has stunning photos and did a great review afterwards. Well worth reading through.
  13. @MarieSamSanchezPhoto Well done!! I've been sitting here trying to figure out how to word it. I think you nailed it!
  14. Omg your video is just stunning!! I'm in complete agreement with Styling Trio - they are absolutely incredible!! Anyone that picks them will not regret it at all! I couldn't say enough good things about them!
  15. @cruisebride2016 Good to hear!! You're right - when it comes to the wedding business, I don't think there is anyone that wants bad publicity! We loved Jamaica and our wedding was super special, even with it being just the 2 of us. I would do it in Jamaica again for sure! All the best! I know you leave really soon! Keep posting your updates!!
  16. @@cayls55 The one thing you'll find in reviewing photographers in the RM is that they have different styles in their photography, so price wouldn't be the only thing to consider. Octavio definitely is well recommended in the review section and there have been a couple of recent brides that used his services. We used a different photographer last October and were completely happy with our photos, but it was his style that I was attracted to and is what made the decision for us.
  17. @OttawaBride2017 Interesting idea. Not sure how practical it will end up being for you but it's definitely different.
  18. @@cruisebride2016 I'm sorry you're going through this so close to your wedding. Do you have a phone number? It might be worth getting a phone card (if you don't have international long distance calling) and phone Jamaica. My husband and I were married there in 2011 at a resort and they had some issues with WCs leaving. I went through something similar for a couple of weeks not getting any response to my emails and ended up buying a phone card and calling. It was worth it. They were just busy and engaging new staff. The WC put my mind at ease finally and I got a jumble of questions answered. Might be something that works for you. Good luck!
  19. @deecol Well girl - you're next. Another one I need to deeply apologize to for not being here the last couple of months. I've just finished catching up on your thread - you've really been through it, haven't you. I'm sorry I wasn't here for support. I should have been. I can't believe your wedding is so close now. Yours has been one of the toughest for me to follow over the last couple of months for specific reasons, but that's no reason to not be here for you. From doing all that work for your own shower and then having to go through stuff with your best friend. But you've just risen above it and everything you've put together is going to be amazing! It would have been totally cool to be in Mexico to creep it!! lol I'm sorry about what happened to your friend. We forget sometimes with the happiness that we've found with the guys that we have, that there are guys out there that just should not be on this earth. Jerk is too nice of a word for them but they do things like what happened to your friend. I suspect she'll come around in time, especially if you've been friends that long. She's hurting definitely. I'm just sorry she projected on to you the way she did, but I'm sure it's because your wedding is so close and it's just such a difficult thing for her to get through. I'm not sure if you were here or not, but there was a bride to be on this site that should have been getting married in February of this year. Kim will remember her (@calgarybride2015). Anyway, she was right up to her middle in all her planning and she made the super difficult decision to break it off because of some things that were happening. It was the right decision from everything that she said and it took guts for sure. She told everyone here and asked about staying on the site even though she was no longer getting married so wouldn't have a wedding to report on. She was only here about a week after that and then she disappeared. Long story short I think it was just too much for her to be here with everyone talking weddings all the time, or reviewing their own, and I think it was just too painful. I think it might be that for your friend. You're being the big heart in all of it so fingers are crossed for you that things work out for both of you. It's sad about the veil though. Things get said and done in pain and anger that shouldn't be. I'm so glad the awesome ladies here made the offers that they did to you. I'm not at all surprised - that's just how special they are, and how special you are too. I'm also glad you got the BM stuff worked out and that you're happy with who is standing with you. Don't feel guilty about being excited about your wedding. You're entitled to be so don't let the unhappiness ruin anything for you. It's hard I know not to bubble over with excitement around people when you're planning something so special, and it's even harder to keep it in check around someone that I'm sure is in so much pain. But letting her be is the best thing for both of you I think. It allows you to have YOUR time, which you're completely allowed and deserve, and it lets her take some time to hopefully heal so that the two of you can get back to hopefully being friends! You've accomplished so much over the last couple of months - it's all coming together so beautifully! I love your sandals!! I'm sure they'll be completely comfortable! And seeing you in your finished dress which I will say is stunning - they'll be perfect for your reception!! Love the barefoot jewellery too! Are you afraid of hot sand, or are they putting something down for you to walk on? Omg those flowers you found are so pretty!!! I absolutely love the colours! And in the heart vases with the "matching" table numbers, they're so perfect!! Reading through your "to do" lists, I think they're completely manageable given that you still have a couple of weeks. Just try not to stress. Yeah - easier said than done I know. But you've got everything so well in hand. Colin's suit is super smart! And your card box and ring box are perfect! Don't worry about not doing a guest book. You know from being here there are no hard rules about stuff, so if it's what you don't want, then don't do it. I love the idea of the two dances together - what was the final decision? And I love your song selection too. Remember too that things like engraving can always be done when you get home if you run out of time. We're keeping an eye on the dollar too and hoping it continues to creep up. We haven't been in the US since Xmas because of it. Fingers crossed! I'd forgotten you were doing the legal ceremony in Mexico. It's what Doug and I did in Jamaica so I can only speak as someone that did it, and believe me when I say I'm totally NOT taking anything from the ladies that did the legal at home and symbolic as the dw, but I know you won't regret having your wedding date as "the" date. It was the only thing for us. Doug being the way he is, if we had done a legal at home he would have said ok, that's it. We're done now. We're married lol Originally it was me that said lets just do jeans and city hall, and he suggested a park somewhere instead, which just morphed into a dw. i don't regret it in any way in spite of everything that happened. You got this girl. It will be amazing! I'm so looking forward to seeing it all come together, hear about it after and see your photos!! We love GBP resorts (we're biased since we got married at one) and they seem to really know how to do weddings! Wow - I guess it's 20 days until you leave!! Woohoo!
  20. @cruisebride2016 I'm sorry I haven't been on your thread for a couple of months. I've followed a couple of the posts but haven't been able to "be here". You're very close now and it looks like you have everything well in hand. I absolutely LOVE your flowers!!! That was the design I wanted initially for mine last October but in the end i opted to add some pink to it. Yours turned out absolutely gorgeous!!! I love your cake topper!! It's so unique!! Happily you got it in time and it's going to be perfect!! Good luck with your final fitting tomorrow. I hope you post a photo of your dress! My husband and I have cruised with Carnival a couple of times and really loved it. My in-laws cruise with Holland America all the time and are actually leaving on an inaugural cruise from Holland next month for about 30 days. They finish in Rome I think. Your shower and bachelorette looked like a lot of fun! I've heard of the paint nights. Sadly no amount of wine would make me any better at drawing a straight line so it's highly unlikely anything I paint, even under the influence, would remotely resemble whatever they it's meant to be! Your group did an awesome job! All the paintings looked exactly like what they were supposed to!! I love your guest book idea! That's going to be a great keepsake after your wedding! Again my apologies for not popping in but keep the details coming. The threads are so helpful for future brides!
  21. @ashhtayy Ash I'm so, so sorry for not being here. I've just finished reading about 20+ pages of your thread trying to catch up. Things have been tough the last couple of months for several reasons so I haven't been around the site. I've tried to read bits and pieces but really have missed a lot. I've apologized to Erin as well, and tried to with Krystal. Still others I need to get to. I don't even know where to start. Another one that is just so organized and has put everything together so beautifully! I've been lucky enough to be part of a very special group of young ladies over the last year! First, congrats on being a Mrs!! What a great surprise for Mike's family being here. When you think about everything that goes into even just the legal ceremony, it's over pretty quick isn't it? Not long now til Mexico! I love your rings together. They're beautiful! Your final decision on your flowers is perfect! They're gorgeous! I really love the white and blush together. Your centerpieces will be stunning all put together and all of your print work turned out so pretty!! Omg your dress!! I'm so sorry you've had some drama with it, but it looks just absolutely gorgeous on you!! Hopefully your next appointment goes a bit better. The shoes you got to go with it will be perfect! I love comfort over style and i think for your wedding it's the perfect decision. Mike's attire is totally sexy! I really do like blue in suits. Doug won't wear it (he's too old fashioned) even though I would have loved to have him in blue. With a bow tie, it's very handsome! I'm sorry about the little drama you've had along the way - with your registry and with AF. I'm not going to go against AF at all, but the lack of communication is what led to me cancelling with them. It was disappointing but in the end it worked out for us. I know your wedding is going to be spectacular! Just like the other ladies, you've put so much of yourself into it, I know it will be magical! Even though I'm late to the party I'm going to agree with the other ladies. Wine at your tables isn't necessary. A cocktail table will be perfect for your MC. I ADORE the show dress!! You have a gorgeous figure for it! (lucky girl!) I thought I had some of the straws around but I think I just left them in Mexico, otherwise you could have had them. Peach Bellini!! YUM!!! I absolutely love those!! Our resort made the most incredible mango daiquiris so I slurped those up all week! lol Your guest book idea is great! The map leading to Mexico is an awesome idea!! As an fyi I filed a report on the horrible person that posted her awful review on your thread. Totally inappropriate! There is a review section for that, and it's where it should have been filed. People are absolutely entitled to their opinions, and I feel bad that bride had such a bad experience, some of which may have been of her own making, but putting it on your thread was just not the right thing to do. Again, I'm really sorry I've missed so much and congrats again on the legal wedding! I know there's things I haven't commented on and I apologize for that too. I don't know how I'll ever get caught up. Not long to go now! The time will fly by!
  22. @BexA Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! You'll find the ladies here super helpful as far as ideas and suggestions and there have definitely been past GSP brides! I posted a couple of threads for you below from one bride that got married in June of last year. Her wedding was gorgeous and her threads are definitely worth reading through! She did a great review as well when she came back so I'm sure there will be details there that will help you out. I hope you have a good travel agent that you're working with. I see you're in the Vancouver area - there have been a few brides from BC so if you don't yet have an agent that you absolutely love I know the ladies here will recommend someone. As well, there are now 2 canadian agents that work with the owners of this site - Wright Travel. They're destination wedding specialists and I'm sure they would be able to help you out. The owner is also a DW bride so you can't get any better recommendation than that! Good luck and happy planning! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/78801-veryvaleros-wedding-planning-thread-grand-sunset-princess/ http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/79344-grand-sunset-princess-platinum-yucatan-princess-wedding/?do=findComment&comment=1899717
  23. @vancouverpetunia I said it already - you got this girl! I can't believe it either that you leave tomorrow! Where does the time go? The whole group that started here last year is almost all gone now.... makes me sad in a way. I know you're going to have a wonderful week and an awesome wedding day! Can't wait to hear all about it and of course all about Costa Rica! You've got it all together for sure! You just sound so relaxed!! lol By the time you actually get back we'll be just a couple of weeks from heading to Vancouver so I really hope the good weather sticks around! My son has been talking about it so fingers are crossed! All the best! It will be everything you hoped for!
