  1. Congrats on being a Mrs! So glad your wedding was a success and that it all went well. Planning a destination wedding can definitely present it's own set of challenges, and the process can be overwhelming at times. Most of the resorts do have very good coordinators, some not so good, I guess just like anything anywhere. I'm glad you found someone that provided the support you wanted to pull your wedding together. Looking forward to seeing your photos when you're able to post them!
  2. YAY!!!!! So glad you're finally part of the community! I know you're going to get a ton of inquiries from the brides here! You guys are truly amazing and I'm so glad you were there for my friend and I when we had our hair and makeup done last October for our vow renewal! It was so worth having it done! You truly are a group of professionals, and made us both feel very at ease and wow - did we look good when you were finished!!! lol Welcome! I know you're going to be a great asset to the site!
  3. @@JRodz Congrats on your upcoming wedding! There are always tons of questions here about decor and so many brides do so many different things. DIY is quite popular with many of the ladies. I agree with Joyce in that you need to decide what you want, for starters. Then get in touch with your coordinator and see what they quote you for the decor on their end. Then just go nuts on the internet and figure out what you can buy ahead of time and take with you. Many of the brides to be on the site, if they aren't choosing a specific decor package with their resort, will put their own ideas together and buy their tablecloths/napkins etc. before they leave. I've seen brides buy plate chargers as well and take them along. Think about how many tables you'll have, so how many centerpieces. Then think about what you actually want for centerpieces. Then I would strongly suggest you read through this site. There are soooooo many decor ideas that are just gorgeous! If you just key in decor in the search bar up top, you'll get a ton of threads well worth reading through. Good luck and happy planning!
  4. @@MeredithLynne Hi! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! There are a few places that you can get the sand. Davids Bridal sells it online and they have a huge range of colours to choose from. I'm not sure if you're in the US or canada, but Hobby Lobby also sells it online and again, has quite a big selection of colours. If you're in canada, there is a company called Weddingstar that sells online. I know there are a couple of other places - just do a google search for wedding sand and I think the listings will come up. When I got married 4 and a half years ago, I got the sand at Davids and used a beige colour with pink. When we renewed our vows last October, I bought at Hobby Lobby and used turquoise and a bright pink. Good luck!
  5. @@2017weddingguy There's also an Azul Sensatori in Jamaica that I think has a sky deck too.
  6. @@lorishultz2016 There are a number of sites on the internet that sell them at a pretty reasonable price. I've seen them as low as about 40 cents each in organza. If you want satin I think they cost a little more, but not a ton. If you're only looking for about 20 of each, 60 in total, I'm sure you could get them all for about $40, especially being in the US. The brides in canada are the ones that get killed on the shipping, even more so if it's a US site and they ship internationally. http://www.chaircoverfactory.com/Chair-Sashes-s/254.htm http://www.weddinglinensdirect.com/chairsashes.html http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/?&gclid=Cj0KEQjwmKG5BRDv4YaE5t6oqf0BEiQAwqDNfJ3oBW6my9uI7uovkmwNEfg6nScy_mnj0Pz1a6dHMMQaAtIr8P8HAQ http://www.linentablecloth.com/chair-covers-and-sashes/chair-sashes.html http://www.efavormart.com/wedding-chair-sashes.aspx I got mine at efavormart and they were just great so I would recommend them, but I'm sure if any of the other ladies have had an experience with any of the other suppliers they'll chime in with a review. Good luck!
  7. I LOVE this article! My husband and I just renewed our vows this past October in Mexico and loved it! I can add that it's also a chance to celebrate something very special. I had a serious health issue right before our first wedding anniversary and our first was spent in the hospital, as well as our 3rd anniversary. We renewed our vows because I'm still here to be able to do it because I very nearly wasn't. When they say "in sickness and in health" I don't think anyone ever really thinks about the sickness part. We didn't have a choice. It just happened and without my super fantastic, wonderful hubby I really don't know if I would still be here. He spent hours and hours and hours at the hospital for weeks and every time I woke up after a procedure he was always there, every single time. All of that made being able to stand in front of him and tell him how much I love him, and the fact that I really would marry him all over again, just that much more special.
  8. You know what - if it lets you post it, go for it. The one thing I've found here over the years is the more info you can give to other brides, the better. The way you wrote your week review was awesome! If you do a resort review like that, even with a ton of details, I think it would be great, and a great help to other brides to be!!!! I hope you're going to put a couple of pics in too!!! Erin - I am seriously in love with those shoes.... lol We're in Vancouver next week. Maybe I'll scout around. Plus we're in Seattle for 2 days so that's an option. I'm always on the hunt for dressy comfortable shoes!!! And the sparkle just does me in!
  9. @racht33 Hi. I found these in satin and they have the napkins too. price seems pretty reasonable. Definitely scout around the internet as well to see what is out there. http://www.weddinglinensdirect.com/sasami.html
  10. @@2017weddingguy There is both an Azul Sensatori in Jamaica and in Mexico.
  11. @@2017weddingguy There are lots of ceremony location options. When you say private, what are you looking for? I got married in Jamaica and it's a very popular place with brides to be here, and we had a gazebo that was on the beach but down a path so the only people there are your guests. We also just renewed our vows and had a very private location at a private beach club up on a terrace but that's in Mexico. I don't think you're interested in Mexico, are you? There are a lot of resorts in Jamaica and generally all of them have a location that isn't beach - either a garden or waterfall location. It does look like Azul Sensatori in Jamaica also has that sky terrace location, so that could be an option. Are you working with a travel agent? That's your best first step. Contacting Wright Travel will definitely give you a great start. They'll help you with your budget and your wants and don't wants, and also help you with your budget for your guests. Good luck and happy planning!
  12. @2017weddingguy I found it. It's the Sky Terrace ceremony location at Azul Fives resort in Mexico, which is a Karisma property. It's a very popular resort on this site with brides, just because of the sky terrace location. It does cost. The last I heard they charge $1800 to have that location but i think there might be some inclusives with it. (It's the same photo)
  13. Ok. I'm looking for the shoes.... lol Is there a style number or something on them somewhere? I know... crazy! They are just adorable!!!! I've found a bunch of sites that sell that brand. Are they wedge or do they have a heel? I LOVE the sparkle on them!!!
  14. @racht33 Hi. I'm not sure that you'll be able to get an exact match on your colour, but there are definitely several different sites you can look at that will give you some options, especially being in the US. The brides here that are in canada have a much more difficult time with bulk sites, and ordering from the US with shipping to canada can get very expensive! Having said that, here's a couple of sites that I found that I know other brides here have used. https://www.discountmugs.com/category/sunglasses-and-accessories/ http://www.logolenses.com/shop/ Good luck!
  15. Happy wedding day Dee! You will be gorgeous and I'm sure the day will be awesome!!
  16. Omg it's almost here! I can't believe tomorrow is the big day!!!! i hope it's the most amazing day you've ever had! I know it will be awesome. You've got everything so well organized, it will be totally wonderful!! Can't wait to hear about it and see the pics!!
  17. I love all of it! Your photos are gorgeous!!! You both look so happy, and I'm so glad that everything went as it should, even with little hiccups. What the heck - it can give you stories for your kids and grandkids!! lol I would love to hear about Costa Rica. I follow your stuff on FB and the pics are beautiful but if you feel like reviewing it.... I wouldn't mind..... lol I'm going to be nerdy about something. Please please can I have your shoes???? lol I love them!! Not your wedding shoes - they're gorgeous too, but the ones you wore for the dancing. They're beautiful!!!!!! Details please... lol Thanks for the review. I have to admit I haven't seen much for NOW Sapphire so having your review is good to have on here. It sounds like it all went great and you looked gorgeous!!!! Congrats again!
  18. We had a nice one when we got married in 2011 and we asked that it be read again when we renewed our vows this past October. I'll take a look for it tonight and see if I can post it here.
  19. @@vancouverpetunia Love it!! This is great and it sounds like a great time! Good on you on the boat! I would have been heaving over the side! lol We had a sunset cruise in Jamaica and it got rough and I remember telling Doug I didn't want to die!! It was NOT fun!! lol Cool shots of the rays though.... so it was definitely worth it!! Can't wait to read more....
  20. If you do a search for the thread of perianjay you'll find a ton of useful details and suggestions. I know she took a lot of her own decor and her thread is well worth reading. She had a gorgeous wedding just a few months ago. It's the best recent thread to read for info. Just do a search up top for Perianjay Beach Palace thread. It's a long one but totally worth reading through! Good luck and happy planning! Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
  21. @@laurencarn Congrats and welcome! I'm a Jamaica bride from 2011. We were married at Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica in Runaway Bay. We absolutely loved Jamaica and the resort where we got married as well. I know the Iberostar has a good reputation. I found some reviews of the resort and have given you the link. You can also do a search up top for threads of the resort. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/reviews/p/21525-iberostar-grand-rose-hall-montego-bay-jamaica/ Are you working with a good travel agent yet? That's the first thing I would recommend. A good TA will help you with decisions and make recommendations, as well as help you stay within your budget and work with the budget you would like for your guests. The owner of this site is Wright Travel ad they are destination wedding specialists. If you don't already have a good agent I'm sure they would be able to help you out with information. Good luck and happy planning!
  22. Omg Erin I love it!!! That's so sweet!! I knew I would do the exact same thing with my earrings so I had my friend do it for me!! lol I was totally all thumbs!! Your hair looked absolutely gorgeous!!! Perfect decision on the style!! And your dress...... Just beautiful!!!!!! Absolutely cannot wait to hear all the details!!!
  23. @@deecol eeeek can't believe you go on Saturday!! I'm super excited for you! You've just plowed through your list! You're calm because you're so organized!! lol My cousin from the UK shipped out of Manchester this morning (4am our time) and she is going to creep your wedding for me and report back! lol I so very much wish I was actually going to be there! She celebrated her 40th wedding anniversary on Sunday so that's really something to strive for!! Everything has come together in such an amazing way for you!! You are going to be one stunning bride girl!! I can't wait to see pictures and hear about it all!! It's going to be beyond amazing!!!! I'm glad I got to meet up with the gta girls and see you before you left even if I did have to go early. We have to have another meet before Ashley goes and then get to hear all about yours!! LOVE the bike photos! Too cute!!! You have some really awesome people around you! There is a second bag that was travelling. I bought the one from Tygrlily and took it to Mexico, then @@Meandhim picked it up from me and used it! That's definitely a sisterhood in my mind! lol Not sure if she is thinking of passing it on or not... Looks like we'll be heading to the UK over the next few months for family reasons. You'll have to let me know if I can return the tea favour.... lol Almost there....
  24. @@LindseyRose Thanks for the tip! That's a heck of a price! Nice to pay it forward and the ladies here love a good shopping deal!
