  1. Carolyn! I would LOVE to pick your brain about this- I am getting married with about 80-100 guests at The Royal and having my ceremony at the gazebo of the Gran Caribe. If you still come on here, PM me!!! <3
  2. Hey Tara! Where in CT do you live? I just moved from there, I live in Framingham now and I work in Boston and my FH commutes to Hartford everyday (I know, quite the hike!).
  3. Oh crap.... that's a really tough one.. Maybe get them a night at a nice hotel and a a dinner nearby or something?? NO clue...
  4. OMG!!! Yes!!!! You know I'M happy for you!!! haha I am so excited that everything worked out- and everything happens for a reason, this new dress is going to be amazing for you!!!
  5. We are four years and a month apart. I am 24 and he is 28. My entire family thought he was like 35 when they first saw him and freaked out because at the time I was only 21. I love being the younger one.
  6. Our timeframe is the same for getting all the money in but I am SO worried about having this problem. I have friends who have already asked to book (before we pushed our date back to 2012 it was April 2011), and then others that told us they would wait until way closer to the wedding. Until people do this firsthand, they can NEVER appreciate the stress we go through and they just aren't curteous. Arghhh!!
  7. Adorable!!! That is awesome! I am getting so many idea from here too that I went home last night and told my FH and Mom that I might do my own invites (which, at 220 of them, is quite a task) and they both thought I was nuts but they don't get BDW and how amazing it is for this stuff!!
  8. We just recently had a thread going about this: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/61694/i-know-people-aren-t-made-of-money We are all there!!!
  9. Ana, our WC said there are definetely microphones. We are getting married at the Gran Caribe gazebo and with a lot of guests, wanted to make sure everyone heard us.
  10. I am wondering the same! We are having a huge wedding too and there will be 8 bridesmaids and 8 groomsmen on either side and to be honest, I was thinking of doing corsages for the BM's, I know I definetely can't afford bouquets for all of those ppl! Our budget is big, but not THAT big!! My mom thinks I should have them do the one calla lilly idea or something, I'm not sure how I feel about it. I might see about a local flower market when I get down there and maybe do it that way... I know the groomsmen are all having bouts, and I would love for my pictures to have the bridesmaid's with bouquets but honestly, they are so pointless after the ceremony, it is a waste of money. I am interested to see what others are doing too. (I'm using parasols for pictures but don't want them down the aisle.)
  11. LOVE #3!!! If you got it in the blue it would be beautiful!!!
  12. what i do when I'm not spending all my time on BDW: sleep (since that is about the only time I'm not on!)
  13. Me too.. I'm just really hoping this thread catches on.. It would be something really good to know. And I know it will go case by case for everyone but it would be interesting to see.
  14. anywhere but work: All of our incredible wedding destinations!
  15. I never take it off. This is mostly because my fingers are terrible and even though my ring (a mere size 4.25- I have the tiniest fingers ever!) is big on the bottom part of my finger, it doesn't slide well over my knuckle and it ends up really hurting. I have to say, now that I am pretty much forced to leave it on, it is DEFINETELY a good thing- I am SO forgetful and haphazard that this thing might have been long gone by now. Sometimes when I shower I get nervous about it coming off (it feels loose) but I actually keep a toothbrush in the shower that I clean it with everyday so the soap scum doesn't stay on there. Also, when I go kayaking, which I do often, you'd think I broke my finger because I wrap gauze and tape around it to keep any lake water from getting near it. (I know, I'm ridiculous, whatever.)
  16. I am having a 4PM ceremony too, I wanted 5 but apparently now that we changed it to February (from April), that is the latest they will make it. I am going to have to get over my extreme opposition to seeing him beforehand because I know there are ways to make that moment special even if it isn't walking down the aisle. I've talked to a ton of girls who said the same thing- you get the tears out and are much more relaxed coming down the aisle. I'm starting to warm to it but I have no real choice in the matter! lol
  17. Ok so I know there are probably threads on here about this already but I'm dying to know- for those of you who have gotten married, or those who have sent out invites and already got back your responses, what was the ratio or number? We will have a ton of invites going out- about 210 and are thinking about 80-100 will say yes after going through the list and seeing who will REALLY come. Post your invite number and amount of YES RSVP's here! (And of course any comments about anything interesting you found with people saying yes, not saying yes... ) <33
  18. The Royal Cancun... Trust me, this is the same resort that we literally had screaming matches with because they told us they refused to book room blocks and that "nobody does that". Are they nuts?!?! EVERYONE does that and if we are bringing 100 people (yes, that many!) to their resort, they better damn well accomodate everyone!!! Whatever, we love the resort so much and overall our wedding coordinator there is amazing so if that is the only bump in the road, we will take it. It is just annoying not to have 100% piece of mind knowing it is booked for that date.
