  2. i hired HDC photo, they are in Punta Cana and have rave reviews from other brides. I had to pay for a day pass for them though. 65$ I didn' use the one from the resort because they were same price for less and they don't give you the original raw photos on a disk they only give you the touched up ones.
  3. I did this at La Romana, I rented out one of the a la cartes for a set fee and the menu is based on their set menu. This was for up to 60 pp then 20$ each additional person. They have recently changed that option for new brides... and aparently no longer offer it but they are honouring my contract. Maybe you could ask your WC if this is a possibility as it isn't written anywhere but I actually found out this option here on BDW when I first joined...
  4. I got engaged at the GP, and it is gorgeous, but for those same reasons I went with another resort. NOT that there are not hidden costs everywhere believe me. Currently I'm at La Romana Dreams in DR, but they have changed their policies since i've booked. So far so good if you are on top of it and ask them everything!
  5. Alot of us, including myself will be or have used HDC. There is a on site photographer.. their site is http://www.hdcphoto.com/ and they are on facebook as well. If you contact them, they usually get back to you right away. Anything i've seen from them has been spectacular. Please note that you do have to pay for a day pass for them and its 65$ (i think)
  6. Thats right Taylorbabe, less than 7 days!!!! and LastMinute in 12, very exciting Good luck the two of you!
  7. Hi Mrs. Williams, Have you tried calling her? I did hear from her a couple of weeks ago I believe when I confirmed which wedding gazebo i was in. Tel: (809) 221-8880 Ext 1983
  8. My Fiance and I did meet on Plenty of Fish... after a lot of duds, he wrote and was my last shot if anything. After the first date, i was sure it was not going anywhere, same after the second, third... lol. I told him he had the mold factor, he grew on me. NOW we are getting married on April 11th...
  9. Happy Holidays to all past and future brides ! Hope everyone is safe and sound and have their loved ones close! - xoxo Dana
  10. A question to former brides, and they can pm if you want to respond that way. How much and who did you tip (in regards to the wedding) I know i tend to tip too much and my hubby to be tips too little... just was wondering so i can put it in my budget. And for the WC's did you tip? Bring them a thank you gift? If yes what?.. Thanks to all that Answer, Dana
  11. I'm getting Married at Dreams la Romana, I'm bringing down vases with floating candles. WE found them for a buck each and we will surround them with shells. I do not have a current picture and i'm hoping they survive the flight down!
  12. I hear you, but resigned that i'm doing the legal thing here to save money and to have my cermony in English (otherwise it would have to be Spanish and English) I'm saving lots of money by going down this route. Only a few people know and thats that. I know you originally wanted to do it to include your FI's family, if he's not into it. Then the effort should be realized and just do it all down there. I love all my family, but have learned that too many people are making their opinions known and I've stopped asking them or thanked them for their opinion and do whatever I want anyway!
  13. Thanks! I know the concern... aparently if I send it FedEx it should be fine I was hoping to have it shipped the week of my wedding. I just have so many people coming, possibly 60... was trying to figure out an alternative to me bringing everything down myself.
  14. I was 50/50 on a destination wedding. I asked each person that I had to have there, if I were to have one, would they be able to come. When I got the go ahead.. then I booked the first 10 and 37 others followed. And possibly more as they need to wait to get closer to the date. I felt guilty at times, then mad and now i'm indifferent. I got the same "comments" from a sibling. My answer was that they are getting a vacation out of it, and if they persist on trying to make me feel guilty, that I rather not talk to them about it. Of course, I got an instant apology, and I do believe that there has not been any other comments to anyone else. But lets face it, here, away... a wedding brings out the worst comments, and opinions. We just have to remember to make it our own and about your and your husband to be. The best comment that i've heard is.. "I can't believe how many people are actually going!!"... Its not like we are asking people to walk across hot coals, or participate in a satanic ritual... its still a vacation for them after all!!! lol... i guess i had more pent up hostility than I thought!!! Sorry for the rant!
  15. I was wondering if anyone has any vendors for mugs, OOT bag stuff that would ship directly to the DR for me. I can't imagine bringing everything i "would like to" bring for OOT bags.. would love any suggestions...
  16. i've had that.. i've told them out right that its basically costing me the same per head as home when you factor everything in. I'm not paying for a limo ofcourse, but i am paying for each head, dinner, bar. Hair/Makeup, Photographer and such. I'm dropping another 5 Gs on just the reception. Not to mention OOT bags and invitations and all the other stuff. All in all, it is "cheaper" but i would not consider it inexpensive. I put them all straight the ones that have the balls to say anything to me or others. I just say, Yes a wedding with a couple of people is inexpensive, but currently i'm at 47 people plus us... believe me its not like its free... And my FI said to one aunt, "You don't have to come if you find it too expensive"... lol. She was the first to book!
  17. Rikki, Great review and thank you for the corresponding pictures. You were gorgeous and i'm so happy that it turned out well with the weather and such!!! Thank you!
  18. oh Allah you look wonderful. Very exciting, will be married 4 months from today!!! thanks for sharing.
  19. My WC said i had to be there 3 days before so we can get all details down (i'm having symbollic as well) But if you really stress the situation and get everything done. Even possibly paying just before you guys get there maybe she can iron that out??
  20. Men don't understand, or maybe under it all he felt bad that his parents can't come after all and was just lashing out. I would talk to him about it in an adult fashion. Just so you clear the air. You don't want to be having any ill feelings on either one of your wedding days. To save money, i decided to have a legal wedding at home.. seriously just paperwork. But then people got insulted because they were paying to join me and see me get married and actually said they would cancel! So i'm lying, doing the legal marriage here (its just a paper) and my "real" wedding will be done technically symbollically but no one knows except my moh and us... and thats that. I've learned you can't please anyone, but you should talk to your FI about it. .. just so its all eezy breezy between you guys.
  21. lol thanks Alla, i see what you mean now lol. Geez its huge! You look beautiful by the way, and almost a twin to a cousin of mine! Can't wait to see more pics
  22. We've decided to have little activities during the week. We are going to put together a rubber duckie race. Bought a duck for each OOT bag. I bought a few Tony Hawk underwater skate boards, so we can have races in the pool. We were thinking of a few other things as well, maybe a scavenger hunt. Have a few tacking trophies just make a few of the days interesting. Leaving it open to whomever wants to participate. But knowing my family and friends they will be in like flynn on all this. I'm not sure what other things yet, but nothing too complexe or too long. And as long as it stays fun!!
