  1. Congrats Melissa! Our wedding is there on May 21, 2011. There defintiely is a lack of pictures out there - BUT, I went down a month ago and met with the wedding planner and toured the resort. It's very nice and I'm confident they'll do a great job. The wedding planner, Mario, and the Wedding Sales Manager, Marisol, spent a lot of time with me going over things. They were very accomodating. Good luck!
  2. Thanks! Yeah, I made them write in my contract that I could have outside vendors. I knew about the day passes for them as well. But he needs to sign a contract? Is it in Spanish by any chance? I thought another bride had mentioned something like that.... I learned fast to TELL, not ASK when it comes to dealing with Palace Resorts, lol!
  3. Thanks Sara! I was checking out Planner1 Events, but can't find any reviews on them. They also have VERY good pricing. I'll check out Alquimia for sure, I thought Deco Cancun was overpriced.
  4. We are getting married at Cancun Palace in May 2011. We have a stipulation in our contract that we can use outside vendors for everything. I basically threw a fit to get it, but otherwise I wasn't getting married there and I told them that. Do you have a price list?
  5. Do they have a website? Did you already use them or have them booked for the future?
  6. I am so glad to read the good reviews. We hired him for our May 2011 wedding and I'm nervous because typically Cancun Palace doesn't let in outside vendors....
  7. I THINK kids over age 3 count.....I'm not 100% sure on that though.
  8. Definitely take advantage of those free nights, they comped us two as well and it was great to visit and meet the wedding planner. You should try to meet with other vendors as well if you have a chance. We met with our makeup artist while we were there and I'm glad we did, we saw a bigger portfolio than he has online. If you're picky about pictures, del Sol is the only way to go. That's the only thing we really went over budget on. Worth is especially since the wedding is entirely free when booking 75+ room nights. http://www.delsolphotograhy.com
  9. Congrats! They do have salon chairs there, they do hair and makeup. A lot of people have someone from the outside come in and do their hair and makeup so you might want to consider that. We're getting married at the Cancun Palace in May 2011 and I hired Fernando for my makeup. He also brings someone to do hair. I met with him when I was in Cancun a month ago and he was awesome. Has a great portfolio too. He's also very popular on this site. http://the-makeup-pros.com/
  10. We went with the Cancun Palace. We have an invite list of over 200 people, so we had to go with a bigger resort, I think the Beach Palace is too small for what I want. I loved the Cancun Palace. We met with Mario, their wedding planner, and Marisol who does wedding sales. They were amazing and spent a lot of time with us. There are a lot of good options for reception and they even set up a wedding ceremony on the beach for us to see and served us a mini wedding cake on the beach! So we're all booked there, as members so we got a great room rate for our guests, and we've booked photography thru del Sol Photography - I can't say enough wonderful things about them. Matt (one of the owners of del Sol) has been amazing to communicate with - not in just the photography aspect, but he's been helpful with general wedding questions I've had as well. http:// www.delsolphotography.come We booked DJ Mannia as our DJ and we booked Fernando from the Makeup Pros for hair and makeup! Can't wait!
  11. USA Transfers is very reasonably priced and I can tell you from using them multiple times, they are awesome. Their drivers are friendly, their vehicles are new, clean and nice. Typically we've been transported in a passenger van but we've also been in a sedan before. They've always been on time, usually early. And they've never given me a hard time when I've emailed to change the pickup time on our return to the airport. Very easy to deal with, and they don't make you pay ahead of time on a credit card. The first time I used them was about 7 years ago and the last time was last month. They're consistently good. If you were to go to the forums on tripadvisor.com, you'll see a lot of people recommend them.
  12. Thank you Mrs*j*2011!!! Thank you Sallee!!! Snarky?? That couldn't be further from the truth! I'm a happy girl! As I said Ann R, the site is extremely difficult to manage. I was sent a wecome message upon registering, and the link on the signature is broken, I've tried it multiple times and it brings up an error message each time. No attitude here! : ) Just wishing the site was more user friendly like other sites with forums. Don't need to name call because you don't share my opinion.
  13. Before you jump all over me, telling me to search this - I've spent the past 30 minutes trying different search phrases and even googled it to see if I could figure this out myself. I absolutely can't figure out HOW to create a signature. Every single piece of info on how to is from years ago - maybe this site was set up differently? I have no option to make one. If I have to hit a certain amount of posts, I wish there was a section TELLING me this. This website and forum is an amazing idea and there's a lot of great info - but navigating it is extremely difficult. It's set up VERY confusing. I shouldn't have to spend an hour trying to create a simple signature.
  14. I can't get enough of del Sol's photos - thanks for posting Matt! We are SO EXCITED to have Vincent shoot our wedding. And who wouldn't want getting ready photos!?1? They are absolute some of the BEST when shot correctly - which del Sol obviously excels at!
  15. Beautiful photos!! We have hired Vincent for our May 2011 wedding and simply cannot wait! Viewing your photos has made us even more excited!!! Congrats!
  16. OMG, it was so much nicer than Beach Palace!! We switched our wedding to Cancun Palace and our date!!! I'll upload pics shortly with more of a review.
  17. Hi Nicole, I've used USA transfers 5 or 6 times, they will probably work out a deal with you. They've always been extremely accommodating, very professional and polite and always on time or early. http://www.entertainment-plus.net/transfers.cfm
  18. We have in our contract with Palace Resorts that we can hire outside vendors. End of story. Nothing else was ever mentioned, besides the fact that we're needing to buy day passes for them. We've already hired del Sol Photography and we're hiring Fernando and his crew to do our makeup and hair. Fernando even gives a price break because of the day pass we have to purchase, he's just awesome. It definitely took some insisting on my part, but they definitely are open to outside vendors. Also, I've gotten prices from 2 inhouse Palace Resorts DJ's and they're really expensive. One guy I met in person a couple days ago and he told me $1100 for 3 hours!!! The other one I'm working with on pricing is $900. I'd like to hire an outside DJ though.....fingers crossed that it works.
  19. Okay, I just got done touring the Beach Palace with the wedding planner and going over all my reception options. I don't think this place is for me. It's modern which I like, but almost to the point of being TOO modern. The rooms are great, the Presidential Suite is AWESOME - it has 3 bathrooms!!! - but I feel like the resort itself isn't very clean and most definitely isn't taken care of. Maybe I notice the detail because my father is a General Contractor and builds amazing luxury homes, but the little things like lots of spotty patchwork and paint jobs, looks awful. For a resort that was remodeled 5 years ago - it looks 20 years old. We're heading to The Cancun Palace with the wedding planner in about a half hour. He said he likes the Cancun a lot better, and one of the wedding consultants from Miami also said she likes the Cancun better. Fingers crossed or I'm going to be running around all day tomorrow trying to tour other places. I am SO happy I came to check it out first. I will post a more detailed review later - maybe tomorrow - I need to try to get some sun while I'm here!!!
  20. Absolutely Ashley! We're only going for 2 nights so I'll be back this weekend and post my findings! : )
  21. We want to honeymoon somewhere other than Mexico because we're getting married in Cancun. We're looking for a beach front villa, at an adults only, all inclusive resort. Destination is wide open, although we can't really afford to fly to Bora Bora and the like, but everything else is fair game. Any suggestions at all??? I have a headache from researching.
  22. Glad to hear that DJ Bob is good, I just emailed him. Doremixx isn't available on our date : ( and I'm waiting to hear back from Mannia. But $600 sounds pretty reasonable.
