  1. Thanks for your review and congrats!!! Please continue to post anything else you can think of
  2. Karielk: oops I think I am having it at the Villas Terrace. I got confused! lol. I hope that one is just as nice. Does anyone know?
  3. Sorry to hear that your parents and other guets will not be able to attend. Maybe you can plan something upon your return such as a newlywed Fiesta in your home! That was something a couple that I knew did upon their return from their wedding in Mexico about 3 years ago. I'm thinking of possibly doing the same!
  4. Karielk: Wow thank you so much for posting those pics! The terrace looks beautiful! I'm happy we are having our reception there!
  5. Larias- thanks for the info! very helpful however I decided to change the menu because the majority of my guests will not want seafood. So I asked if they had a Mexican menu for the wedding since we will be in Mexico lol. I figured it would be better and they were actually able to accomodate me. I'm wondering if you guys feel that will be a good option....
  6. I'm really glad I found this forum because my family is also having us think twice about holding our wedding in Cancun because of the violence. Thanks for the info and support everyone!

Although I'm originaly from the Philadelphia area, I live in Merida, Mexico ( a city about 4 hours west of Cancun) and am also frequently in the Mayan Riviera area. It really is safe here, and the problems in the border areas are not happening here, thank God. -Sara :-)
  8. Carrieb258: Wow that's awesome, I hope it turns out great for you. Yes, I do have my dress already lol. I bought it a few months ago because it was a great deal for a beautiful dress and I just couldn't pass it up! lol How about you?
  9. Yeah, I try not to worry however my family and friends are telling us we should change our wedding location....its stressful because our wedding is in less than a year and its also a popular wedding date (11/11/11)

There are several threads on here about brides worried about Mexico and there are a few themes in the responses: the border violence is literally hundreds of miles (might even be >1000) away from Cancun/Riviera Maya. It would be like saying you aren't going to visit Las Vegas (which is actually closer to the border) because there has been violence along the US/Mexico border.
  11. Thanks for trying to comfort me We're getting married at Gran Caribe Real. How about you?
  12. Yes, one of the travel agents is Wendy Hicks. There are many great reviews on her! I emailed her and she got back to me right away! She's good so far! lol
  13. Yes, it is exciting, however we are having doubts whether we should hold our wedding there or not because of all the things that are going on in Mexico right now...any thoughts??
  14. I'm so glad I found this forum as well. Thank you so much, this is very helpful because I've contacted a few travel agencies and they have not gotten back to me as of yet! IDK why!!! I'm going to email Wendy now!
