  2. Congrats! Good luck with the wedding planning.
  3. I used ebridalsuperstore.com but their return policy is really that you can't return the dress. I was able to try mine on in a store so I knew the exact one I needed, otherwise I wouldn't have gone that route. It can be so frustrating to find a dress online you like and no one in your area carries it.
  4. Congratulations! So exciting! Welcome to wedding planning.
  5. When we booked, I didn't even think about hurricane season and now I am sort of nervous. However, we had so many people throwing dates at us that they could not attend and we wanted to give our guests a lot of time to book flights. It really never occurred to me until I read an article that they think hurricane season will be even worse this year. We are advising everyone to get travel insurance just for this reason. However I feel bad that they have this added cost.
  6. I have no idea what to do about shoes. Since my groom is taller than me and we are not doing a beach wedding I want heels. However, I am fairly clumsy and am completely freaked out that I will, most likely, trip and embarrass myself at the wedding. I guess I can wait until the dress gets here and see the difference but sandals may be the way to go.
  7. I tried on a couple of dresses that were okay and when they added a blingy belt to it, it made it great. I was surprised. With that said, I didn't end up going with either of those dresses, it just surprised me how much difference a belt could make. I love the look of it.
  8. Love the A team theme song idea. Great choice.
  9. Wow what a great planning thread. I love your wedding colors, so pretty.
  10. Wow, everything looks so beautiful. Your garter so cute! Also I love your first dance song. Short but great choice.
  11. My biggest stress factor is inviting everyone to this event that may be very costly to them. I don't want people to attend if they cannot afford it but will say they are coming because they do not want to miss it. I don't want an unnecessary hardship on them. I also stress about the AHR and hope it does make me look gift needy but just as a way to celebrate with everyone who couldn't make it.
  12. Wow these look really great! Thank you for the info, the price is great for that many!
  13. I don't think it is rude at all. Unlike a wedding in a hometown, in this situation people should know well in advance if they can attend or not attend. On our information to guests we are setting the deadline to book 1 month ahead of the actual date so even if someone lags behind they still have time to book. We did our STD 9 months prior and are doing our invites 4 months prior and requesting a response 1 1/2 months prior, however, we are assuming we will know prior to the RSVP on who is coming by who is actually booked to come. Maybe that is just wishful thinking though
  14. We are getting there on Tuesday and we were recommending everyone get there on Thursday so we could have a couple days alone to decompress before the craziness starts. However, a lot of our guests have decided to come in on Wednesday which is fine, I just hope they aren't expecting us to spend a lot of time with them as we will have things to get done. However, it does help that it is spaced out when people get in so we have time to greet them I guess. We were originally recommending Thurs through Monday so they could spend Sunday after the wedding to relax and recover but a lot are headed out on Sunday and I think they are going to regret that.
  15. Wow the whole made in China thing is not something I would have thought of, thanks for the info. I wonder if there are any other countries they do not allow merch from.
  16. While I was staying at the Aventura Spa Palace in November, we did the Zip Line excursion which stopped at Playacar Palace to pick up a couple that was honeymooning there. We asked them how they liked staying there. From what I gather, they really liked it. It is smaller than most of the Palace resorts which means less restaurant options but they liked the smallness and felt like they got more attention. What I really liked about it, is that located in Playa del Carmen so if you want to leave the resort and experience some authentic Mexican culture, it is all right there within walking distance. The resorts are nice but to me there is a vanilla type of a feel and nothing truly authentic. We are considering Playacar Palace for our mini-honeymoon after our wedding. Also compared to ASP, Playacar has a real beach I believe. Everything from the outside looked nice too. This was back in November so I don't know when the Wyndham merger happened so it could be changed since then.
  17. It took me 3 months to decide so don't worry about rushing through it. This site should have a ton of great information to help you decide! Congratulations.
  18. We bought our BM dresses but since the groomsman are just wearing khaki's and white shirts we figured everyone should already own that anyway. I am not sure what to do for a BM gift outside of the dress. It's not a dress they will ever wear again so I wanted something to say thanks that they could use after the wedding.
  19. Wow love the invites. Looks like they turned out great! The beach description on the invite make it even more fun.
