  1. Welcome and congrats! The forum should be helpful with you making your destination decision. Everyone is super helpful here! Good luck and enjoy your planning.
  2. I usually never bring gifts to a bachelorette party just plenty of cash to pay for the bride to be's drinks. But my friends threw me my bachelorette last week and they all gave me lingerie gifts. They said it was because I'm not having a bridal shower. I thought it was great! Definitely ask whoever is in charge...
  3. Welcome to a fellow NJ and PPR bride to be!! This site is amazing and absolutely addicting. Everyone on here is extremely helpful and I'm sure you'll find their input valuable for your wedding. Make sure you check out the NJ Brides and Dominican Republic Paradisus Brides threads...good luck and enjoy your planning!

It's a beautiful and fun city with lots of charm and character. My FI and I visited Magnolia Plantation last summer and it was gorgeous. There are so many areas for great pics. I would not recommend the porch for the wedding since it was crooked (I'm a huge klutz and knew I would have problems in heels). Funny enough, a friend of my FI's is getting married at the Legare-Waring House in Sept. 2011.

  6. I sooo feel for you because I too have an annoying future brother-in-law!! Mine too wasn't supposed to come but he booked last minute and is coming...yay. Oh yes, he's also bringing his gf that is also crazy and annoying. Everyone thinks he's annoying and we just ignore him since he thrives on negative attention. Our plan is to greet them with a smile and then leave them the hell alone for as long as possible! Thankfully my future father-in-law does not find his son's antics amusing and has promised to keep him check on the wedding day. Maybe you can just seat him as far away as possible....or ply him with drinks to the point he can't leave his room (that's my plan!) Good luck!!

Please let me know if you do not receive it. tracy0716: do you think you can email me the dinner menu? I would really appriciate it! I've asked for some options from the resort and haven't received a responce. My email is: [email protected] Sent! 8. I'll be there too!! Looking forward to meeting everyone! Michele aka Jerseykitten Tracy aka tracy0716
  9. Congrats!!! I'm so happy you had such a great experience. I look forward to checking out your pics!
  10. I'm having an uneven wedding party and at first it bothered me too. My FI is having his 2 brothers. I only asked my sister to be my MOH and then told my friends I just wanted them to attend and not have to worry about any additional costs with hair, make up, and BM dress. Of course they all wanted to attend but life got in the way...1 just had a baby 5 weeks ago, another is due to give birth a few weeks after our wedding, and 2 others are having money/job issues and just couldn't come. I'm sad they won't be there but I absolutely understand. As for my sister, putting it bluntly she's useless with helping plan the wedding and plan other events for me. I still love her but she is not a traditional MOH. My friends did throw me a bachelorette party, only my mom came wedding dress shopping with me, and I made it clear I do not want a bridal shower. I know there's the traditional way that things are "supposed" to happen but honestly life doesn't always let that happen. Try to go with the flow and if you want these other events I'm sure you're friends will be more than happy to organize what your sister in the states cannot without feeling they have to be in your wedding. Good luck!
  11. We did the apple green bag with white writing and the monogram design. I also added the turquoise and turquoise paisely gemstones tissues paper with a turquoise/blue/green ribbon. I hope to do a planning thread and will post pics then.
  12. I ordered my OOT bags from the first site you posted! I got them a few weeks ago and love them...I also got the tissue paper and ribbon from them too. It came out to around $7 per bag and they're super pretty. Our resort gives beach bags in the rooms so these were a good alternative for us.
  13. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your engagement! I've found this site and the members to be tremendously helpful while planning my wedding. The Moon Palace just recently became the Hard Rock so that might explain the lack of info. Try using the search function and searching the reviews to find info. about the resort, feedback, and pictures. Good luck and enjoy your planning!!
  14. Our WC said 3 days and the day you arrive doesn't count, so I guess that's technically 4 days. We're arriving Mon and getting married on Fri and she said that was perfect. But we now decided just to do our legal paperwork at home before we leave and have a symbolic ceremony in DR. Hope this helps, good luck!
  15. Yay another PPR bride!! There's so few of us on here...I'm glad you got your confirmation! Bkbeachbride- I know the waiting sucks but it's worth it. I still want immediate responses from the resort and check my email compulsively...which a la carte prices did you want? I have the 2010 calculator and the a la carte dinner choices...not sure which you want. Let me know and I'll forward them to you!
  16. Glad your wedding was awesome!! Your review was very detailed and I'm sure it will be super to helpful for B2B using the same resort. Congrats on your marriage! P.S. Love your bouquet- I picked a similar one!

Glad you made your decision...I've been planning my wedding at the PPR for around 9 months now and have changed my package several times. As the wedding is nearing our final head count is much lower than we initially anticipated and my expectations have changed. We're now going with the Wish package. It's really easy to get crazy and stressed out!! Good luck!
  18. I went away for 2 weeks and the only wedding related business I did was order my FI's wedding shirt and his brothers' (groomsmen) shirts. I made a huge list on my way home (yesterday) and now I'm completely overwhelmed. To top if off I had my 2nd to last fitting this morning and realized my veil is damaged! Thankfully, the store is replacing it with a new one. Only a few more weeks to go! I hope everyone else is doing better than me...
  19. I would definitely go with the location you love for the ceremony. It's only a day and shouldn't be a problem as long as none of your guests have made reservations already that interfere with that date you should be fine. Your wedding isn't for another 5 months so I'm assuming the only people booked would be you and your FI and possibly your parents. Anyways, most of your guests will get there a few days early. Definitely check with those booked already and if it can be done switch your date and spread the word. I think your friends and family will understand once you explain your situation. Good luck!
  20. Awww this is so sad! I loved the Golden Girls, esp. Blanche! Thanks for posting...

I look forward to talking to you all more! Where did you girls get your dresses from? I have an appointment with The Bridal Manor in South Jersey this weekend and Klienfeld in July... any other suggestions?! --Theresa Hey Theresa! I'm getting married at the PPR this July. One of my closest friends got her dress at the Bridal Manor and it was stunning!!! She did spend a lot of money since it was a Monique Lhuillier. Another friend of mine went there are she didn't like that you couldn't browse the dresses yourself. I never went since it's over an hour from my house. I ended up getting my dress at Castle Couture in Englishtown. I love that it's down the road from my house. Good luck!!
  22. Hi Shari! Welcome to the forum- I'm from NJ too and definitely understand trying to keep everything in budget. You should find lots of info, pics, and reviews about your destination. Enjoy your "browsing" and definitely let us all know the details of your proposal when it happens!
  23. Sorry to hear that! I'm sure you'll still have a fabulous wedding in MD. At least you get your honeymoon and TTD. Good luck!
