  1. Hey Katelynn... I think I picked the 3rd option.... It was a calabrese salad, squash & thyme soup, stuffed chicken breast and profiterole (cream puffs). To be honest I was not at all interested in any of the food options!! lol...just figured chicken was the best call. But EVERYONE loved everything! I was so totally impressed and happy with the meal! (And just so you know they make a little personalized menu with your names on it that they put at everyones seat!...It was a super fun surprise for the memory book!!) Good Luck!!
  2. Hey Kari, My actual wedding cost just under $4500 Canadian. I got the Sunshine package, which is for maybe 24 ppl. and then had to pay for each additional person (we had 59). I also got the steel drum band, and rented the gazebo with a dj and bartenders. Here is the breakdown (all prices in US). Package $1100, additional ppl $980, add. chair covers (I had to pay for each chair after 24) $140, gazebo $500, bar $550, steel band $400, plus tax.... Hope that helps! I'm also putting up some of the professional photos for you to see!! (These were not taking by the resort photographer. I hired my own from here...) My ring and flowers
  3. Tris, They just played. I would assume they would play whatever you asked, but to be honest after the ceremony I was so busy with pictures that I didnt really notice what they were playing! I had my husband's (tehe...still funny to say...) uncle there playing the bagpipes, but I'm sure otherwise they would have played while I marched in...they were already there and set up. I don't know if they played while everyone was waiting for the bridal party or not...I know after the ceremony they did a little playing with the bagpiper. that was fun!
  4. Hey Ashley, My guest LOVED the steel drum band. One of our friends even comment on it the other day that it was definitely worth whatever extra money it cost. I just loved listening to them as we cut the cake and took pictures. A bunch of people were dancing around on the beach as we were doing family pix. I think I used Tia flowers. lol....I would assume so. I wasnt going to get real flowers b/c I really wanted something with blue and hadnt seen anything like that on the website. But when we met with Beverly she showed me the options and said that they could spray the flowers so I could have blue. I wasnt interested in spending additional money on flowers b/c they die so quick anyways. My girls all had fake flowers that I made for them. Hope that helps!! Steph
  5. Hey ladies! Thanks so much! I paid $500 to have the gazebo and DJ for the 2hrs. The bar was suppose to be $15pp/hr, or $22pp for 2hrs, well it was that, but she gave us a discount and only charged us to "set-up" for 25 people instead of 59....It was DEFINITELY worth the $$$. You can buy the booze and mix (not sure of prices) but once I got there I decided that it wasn't worth it. I didn't want to have to worry about anything.... Time wise....I found that we had just more then enough time btw the wedding and the reception. Probably 2pm would be ideal. After the wedding we listened to the steel band, had our cake with champagne toast and then pictures! During pictures most of my guest went to eat lunch (jerk chicken! SOOOO GOOD...at the snack bar near the beach....open 11-330) and then they went for a swim! Alastair and I went for lunch after the pictures and then went up to our room to just chill. It was nice just to have some "us" time and take in the day...now that our nerves were relaxed! With having so many guest there it was kinda hard to find any alone time! We definitely should have taken an extra wk! All the pictures I posted were actually taken by friends! I don't get the professional ones until next wk. The photographer that I used is Wendy MacCrimmon from North Bay, Ontario. She was already planning on being down there for another wedding that week, so it worked out well for both of us! She was FABULOUS!! When I get her pictures I will post some of them for you to all see!! Nitty Gritty wise... We met with Beverly on the Sunday before the wedding and literally went over all the options again. So don't fret if you change your mind about anything. She was super accommodating and willing to make anything work for you! The day of the wedding my flowers got delivered to my room about an hr before the ceremony. I had to meet Beverly with the bridal party and my parents in the lobby 15 mins before the ceremony and the guys all had to be at the gazebo then to meet Beverly's assistant. I didn't like the ministers wording so I had rewritten the ceremony and he read it word for word. It was super windy out, which was kinda nice because it was probably the hottest and sunniest day of the week so the breeze helped to keep us cool! And to be honest I thought it would be windy (based on everyone elses pix) and I was looking forward to my hair blowing in the wind! The girls in my bridal party did my hair so I didn't have to worry about the spa staff (although I went there for a hot stone massage the day after the wedding and it was amazing!). One of my girls got braids in her hair, but she got it done at one of the stores up in the mall area (I'm not sure what one...) If you get the Dolce Vita for dinner you will most likely get the little room we had off to the side. The Grill doesn't seem to have a separate section, and one night when we were in there for dinner there was a wedding group sitting along one side. It wasn't the best setting, so try to get the other one!! Because we were getting married they upgraded us to Gold Club and therefore pre-booked all of our dinners at the A la carte restaurants. Having the gazebo for dancing was awesome! All of my guest really enjoyed themselves and the only complaint was that it ended too early! When we got back to our room there was a bottle of champagne and the room was all decorated with a bubble bath ready to go! The morning after the wedding they delivered us breakfast in bed. We had set it up for 930, but they called at 815 to see what we wanted (you choose anything that's available at the breakfast buffet) and then delivered it at 845!! TOO EARLY! lol....but we ate it and then went back to bed!! Cold omelets are never yummy!! I don't know what else to tell you!! It was perfect and amazing!! I wouldn't have changed anything about it! I am attaching a picture that shows the chairs! and one of our bed so u can see how fun it was! (they had found my vows (I left them on the dresser) and put them on the bed too....that what the piece of paper is... If you have any questions feel free to ask!!
  6. Hey!! I just got back from the GBP and it was AMAZING! You seriously have nothing to worry about. Beverly is awesome and takes care of everything when u get there! I posted some in the Jamaica - Gran Bahia Principe forum....check 'em out!! It was such a perfect and amazing day!! You will all LOVE it!
  7. Hey Marlena, You can order them from mymms.com. I think I got mine within 2wks of placing the order. It was super quick!
  8. Hey Ladies!! I just got home from the GBP and it was AMAZING!!! The chairs are pretty hideous without the covers. They are gold with navy blue padding.... So Beverly went over everything with me the day after I got there (which was 3 days before the wedding) and went over all the options so we were able to make any last minute changes and additions. Our wedding was at 1 on the beach beside the gazebo (we got the steel drum band...AMAZING), dinner at 6 (Dolce Vita, GREAT FOOD), and then the gazebo for dancing from about 815-1030/1045 (with a DJ and bar)...We had 59 guest and all had no problem fitting in the gazebo for dancing! Honestly Beverly was awesome and everything went as planned!! Here are some pix from the prefect day!! and our TTD session!!
  9. Congrats to everyone!! I can't believe how quickly November got here!! I have a week and a half 'til departure and 2 wks 'til the wedding!! I keep stressing out, worrying that I'm gonna forget something!!
  10. Hey Katelyn, Beverly had told me that the free wedding packages end Oct 31,2010.....When did you book? And did she confirm that you could get the free package?
  11. oh my goodness!!! I LOVE THE PICTURES!! AMAZING!! Congrats! You looked fabulous and soooooo happy!! Thanks for sharing!
  12. Hey ahoen, I actually used Aurora China here in Toronto....The shot glasses didnt have pictures on them, which is what all the sample ones I saw had, but I was willing to compromise because I really wanted it to have 3 lines of writing (name, date, location) and none of the places I contacted with the pictures would do that... But they turned out really nice!! Good Luck!!
  13. Hey Boo, Have you thought about getting the sticker bras? They are not the best....and probably not an option if you have big breast, but I used them before for my prom, and my sister is going to use them with her BM dress.... I know our local drug store (Shoppers Drug Mart) sells them....You just kinda have to hold ur boob up as you stick it down and then they hold pretty well....GOOD LUCK!!
  14. LOL! I had to hide my dress on myself at my mom's! I would constantly be wearing it otherwise!! Congrats Boo!! So exciting!!
  15. Hey ladies, Â I got my dress last night!! Sooooo excited to have it at home! I will post pix soon! My neighbour is a personal trainer and has offered free training! We started this wk (every mon, wed and fri) and will go all the way til mid-nov! He's killing me!! And now I will have to have my dress taken in, but I'm so pumped for it!! I can't believe how fast November is coming!!!
  16. Hey Tris, Â I'm sure it will work out fine! There is another wedding there on our date too. And I think a sunset ceremony could be really pretty!! We had to move ours up to 1pm, b/c the other wedding is at 430 and that kinda sucks, but like you, I focused on the positive...the date stayed the same!
  17. Hey.... Â I honestly send her the same email a couple days (literally 2-3) later if she hasn't responded...I just say, "I have already sent you this, but you have not yet responded" and I generally get a reply that day! Good Luck!! Ps. Sooooo exciting that the wedding is so soon!! Can't wait to hear all about it!
  18. Sometimes I find Beverly random. lol. She often answers something and not everything, or I'll think of another question after sending an email, and she answered the 2nd email and not the first. So I have taken to sending her an email, and if its not all answered within a few (3-4days) I will resend it and state that I have already sent this email, but I havent heard back....lol....she generally then responds within a day...try that! To be honest I havent even thought of table linens, cake, etc. I have told her my colour is blue, so I hope whatever she comes up with looks good! cross your fingers for me!!
  19. I am sooooo close to being done everything!! My dress will be in on Sept 16th! Did a trail run with my hair. Booked mani/pedis for the bridal party for the night before we leave for Jamaica. Picked up my wedding favours today!! ... well the shot glasses....still gotta order the personalized m&m's, but I'm waiting til mid sept for that.... Now just gotta figure out what to get the groomsmen.... Can't believe how fast it's coming!
  20. Hey ChrisBC, Â I didnt use destinationweddings.com, but I did use a travel agency weddingsbyoceans.com. They only deal with destination weddings so they seem to have a hook-ups with pricing. At the time that we booked we were getting quotes for $1700pp from most other TA, but they got us $1420pp. Right now (2.5months before the wedding) the flights are going for the same price, but I wanted to book early because we have so many people coming with us and I wanted us all on the same flight. So far we have 48 people booked and are expecting 10-16 more people....When I booked with them I had to give a deposit and then each guest had to give a $200 deposit to hold their spot, and the remainder is due mid September (2months before we leave). Â I dont mind the questions!! Thats what the forum is all about!! Â Good Luck!!
  21. I totally feel the same way. Just feel bad asking people to give me presents and then spend so much money on coming to Jamaica. I actually made a point of phoning all my girlfriends and telling them not to get me anything, and that I just wanted them there for fun. My MIL had me register at Home Outfitters so I'm sure I will get some gifts, but I really dont want/expect anything.....
