One of the people that I invited got married in Jamaica as well. She keeps saying why am I getting married in Ocho Rios? Why do I have a wedding planner? That's too expensive. Why don't I get married in Montego Bay since it's close to the airport? I told her 1. we want to get married at the Falls and that is non-negotiable. The falls that my fiance and I chose was Coyaba. 2. The same hotel she stayed at had to have a wedding planner. After all the cake wasn't baked by itself nor the flowers found itself in the proper place. That answer above shut her up. One time she even suggested that we don't have a wedding and just go to the Justice of The Peace. My fiance family is all excited and so helpful. I wish I could say the same for mine. Anyway, sorry for the vent. Hang in there. It seems we are all going through these problems.

It's fruit cake. Pretty hard to mess that up.

I had the same problem with his family being from Jamaica and my family being from Cayman and US. I didn't have enough people for the 80% rule. I think the minimum is 3 nights but not 100% sure. I looked at so many places that I have them quite jumbled in my head.

My BM picked a long dress and my MOH picked a knee length dress. Should I have one of them pick something else?They'll be the same color though. I hope.

I received a quote from her as well but found a more affordable wedding planner so I went with her. The thing I really liked about TWJ is that I found her to be very prompt with her replies. My wedding planner wasn't as prompt at first but after our initial contact, she was very prompt. I haven't seen any bad reviews about TWJ.

I'm getting married in January @ 4pm so I'm hoping it won't be too hot. It's not on the beach. It's by the falls. I'll also be changing for the reception. Mine is a big ballroom looking dress. I fell in love with it and can't imagine getting any other dress.

Is that Shaw Park hotel or Shaw Park itself? My fiance and I checked out both and to me the park was a little run down. The hotel showed us 1 room but it was the only room available at the time. They were full. I was impressed till I saw the room. It was not nice at all. Everything looked outdated. The front desk clerk was babysitting because the babysitter hadn't arrived yet. I changed my mind quickly about both places.

I'm feeling the same way but I know it's because of a lot of external factors like I'm stressed at work, my father isn't well, etc. I know if we can weather this, our marriage will be very strong.

My co-worker keeps making comments about why I don't get married just my fiance and I. I think she's jealous because I have an awesome location and she didn't think to have one there. She got married on the beach at a hotel and she even suggested that I do the same thing but my fiance family is from Jamaica so they would have to pay to go to the hotel. Plus like I told her, we have chosen our location and we won't change it for anyone. It's what we chose together. I might be having an AHR too but originally I wasn't planning on having one. Do what you want and don't tell anyone your plans. I learned that the hard way.

My family loves the traditional Jamaican cake. It's called fruit cake here. It tastes way better than the American fruit cake. It's made different. My only problem is that I didn't like the cake I tasted so I'm looking another cake baker or bringing it from home.

Coyaba Gardens and Mahoe Falls, Ocho Rios. I wanted something unique and different from everybody else. I figured I can get married on a beach in my own country so I wanted to get married at the Falls. There are no Falls here.

Kingston is quite a distance away from where the weddings would be. My fiance is in Lucea and there are no problems over there. It shouldn't really spill over to other parts of Jamaica because this is over the alleged drug lord "Dudas" and his stronghold is in Kingston. Hopefully, it will soon be sorted out.

Why is it that My FI/BF/DH comes from _______ and your ex does too so he has the same issues as him?

My MOH isn't coming. I have to choose a new MOH so I was wondering if it would be okay to choose my biological daughter. Her adopted mother is okay with it but I was wondering because she's 21 and the BM is much older if that would seem strange? The BM is probably in his late 30's. I'm thinking of having one of my sons give me away. He's 16yrs old. My other son is 19yrs old and I thought he could be the usher or that maybe both could give me away? My 4 yr old would be the ring bearer. Any other suggestions or thoughts on this? The BM is my FI brother and the GM is his nephew. His nephew is maybe in his 30's as well.

I talked to my cousin (MOH) and she said that she has training so they aren't allowed vacations the month of training. I decided to not say anything else but I know she could at least take off the weekend. After all, she works for the only airline going into the country from our's. Everyone is just coming for the weekend. She wanted me to put off my wedding till the summer. lol! FI said, for one person?, she crazy. I already decided the date based on a holiday at home so people only have to miss one day at work. My BM is having financial problems so she might not make it. I'm scared to ask anyone else because I'm afraid that they won't make it. I can't afford to pay for my BM because she is bringing her husband and children.
