  1. Still at work right now...yuck! I'll post up a new thread w/ poll when I get home.
  2. Did you only have her contact information and wedding date on your STDs? If so and you do not have a large number of people going, maybe let them know the situation (mass e-mail or if you have a website, update that) - that the date is secured and travel agent is secured but not the actual price and/or resort. That way, your guests can still make plans to save and book off the book week but you can make a decision as to the actual resort and or package at a later date?
  3. wow, you really thought of every last detail!! i love your color scheme and the stationery you used. btw, the swine flu civil ceremony is hilarious! congrats on your marriage.
  4. Hey Jen, welcome to BDW! I am also from Toronto and thinking of Punta Cana. Have you chosen your resort yet?
  5. Congratulations on the engagement and welcome to BDW!
  6. ^ I think people forget when they agree to be a bridesmaid, that it is a commitment and it is work. Yes, it can be a lot of fun and very flattering to be asked, but it's going to hurt more when you can't pull through for the bride-to-be than to tell her beforehand that you don't think you'll be able to do it. And if you've already committed, remember that it is not about YOU, it is about the BRIDE. *sigh* Unfortunately, I don't think a lot of these bridesmaids remember that at all!
  7. Your photos look great! Congratulations on your marriage!
  8. I think before making any decisions, confront her and get the story. Maybe she has a good excuse why she couldn't come to YOUR party...maybe she totally forgot she had promised someone else to go to theirs. BUT, I don't think there is ANY excuse for not contacting you, even if at the very last minute, to tell you of her change in plans and to apologize. I would ask her if she still wants to be your bridesmaid. Her response should be very telling. And if it turns out she is not ready to being a BM or does not want to be one for sure, then that's unfortunate, but definitely better to know now than to have her potentially stand you up on your actual wedding.... Good luck and so sorry this happeend to you!
  9. We are getting married first in Toronto legally. My fiance's cousin did this, too since they were getting married in Quebec and would have had to post marriage banns in the town! I told my close friend and bridesmaid and she thought it was a great idea, too. Less to worry about and everyone's going to be so excited to be doing the AI thing all week, they could care less! Lol.
  10. Hey ladies, sorry I've been gone for a week studying for an exam. Now I'm back and ready to put this into action. I'm looking at these dates: Week of: Feb 27 Mar 6 Mar 13 Day/Time of Week: -Friday night -Saturday or Sunday night -Saturday or Sunday afternoon Location: I think somewhere downtown or mid-town Toronto would be best - close to the subway line but also with parking nearby so everyone can come. Should we try for a pub, sit-down restaurant, or coffee shop? Please submit your feedback! I'm envisioning we all meet and share how our plans are going or for those who have already wed, share your experiences and tips.
  11. If you're going to have good natural lighting, you may want to think about bringing some funky fabrics to use as backdrops. I did a quick entry about it in my blog (siggy) but basically, bring fabric that is about the size of a queen/king sheet (or a slightly larger) in funky patterns. You may wish to scout out places to do this. For example, if it's an earlier wedding on the beach, perhaps you can clip/rope the backdrop on the ceremony arch after the wedding itself. You can also buy cheap polaroid cameras/film on eBay and bring them for guests to use.
  12. ^ Thanks Jennifer! I've been waiting to get more information on the Excellence...so looking forward to the webinar!
  13. Nat, you are such a beautiful bride!!! The photos turned out absolutely amazing. Congratulations on your wedding!
  14. You look beautiful! I love the veil with blue features. Congratulations on becoming a Mrs.!
  15. Great! As per my post above, I was thinking it'd be great to have "seasonal" meetings so hopefully brides-to-be with fast approaching AND far away dates can all attend. Would February or March be better for everyone?

Figures...
  17. Hi Jenny! Congratulations on your engagement, fellow Torontonian! I'm also thinking of the Palma Real. Good luck with your wedding plannin!
  18. It's never too early to start! And it's great that you know exactly the area you want to go to. There's still a lot of time to even go for a vacation/site visit! Good luck with your wedding planning!
  19. That is so low. Since this is during a game, he wouldn't be criminally charged, just either discharged or permanently banned from the league right? I think he SHOULD be criminally charged with assault. Intentionally hitting someone and in the FACE...he KNEW what he was doing, he KNEW the harm it would cause. There is absolutely no excuse. This isn't roughhousing...shoving and pushing. This is definitely trying to cause serious harm! Sadly, this happens all too often and seems to be a part of hockey. It sells. And you can tell even by the kid's leagues....start them young.
  20. Okay, I sent a msg to my friend who I left borrow my p90x set. I'm getting it back and starting it, too! Can't wait! I only want to loose 10-15 pounds by spring 2011. However, I really want to tone up. Even when I was at my goal weight, I was totally a "fat skinny girl"..
  21. Hey ladies, I went by dollarama today and saw a few other OOT bag potentials: 1) Small bottles of hand sanitizer gel on carabiners (those climbing clips) 2) Wine glass tags (for cocktail hour or reception?) 3) Fuzzy micro-fleece socks (for the plane ride there/back) 4) Small wooden pail about the size of a bowl with mimi brush, mirror, and loofa!
  22. Hi Karla, thanks! That was a great link...very helpful articles!
  23. Wow, you put so much thought and work into your wedding items! I'm bookmarking your thread for ideas when my wedding rolls around. Thanks so much for posting this!
