  1. Help!!! I'm using DW.com and today my agent calls me to tell me that the Palace resorts are not doing good!!! I'm under 4 months away frm the wedding and people have already booked through my agent. She didn't go into detail but now I feel uncertain. Anyone know anything about issues with Palace resorts or If DW will not follow through with booking? She also seemed disorganized and afraid she will lose someone's reservation.... Help!!!
  2. Thank you for this posting and it helps clear out any confusion on tipping your TA. I do think that referrals are great and also think that having your people book directly through your TA for your DW also a plus!
  3. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! You will find this forum very helpful. Happy Planning!

Hi Christi! Congratulations and welcome to the forum! We have three things in common, my name is Cristi, I'm originally from Dallas, and getting married in Riviera Maya as well! Happy Planning and you will find this forum very helpful!
  6. Hi Katrina, check out the Aventura Spa Palace thread (see attached). There is some information about the DJ/ renting speakers, etc. on there. I hope this helps! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...4/index38.html

If you used a travel agent have them get involved and have them ask the miami office to honor all of these things for you! OK off to have some fun with my guests! Talk to you all soon! Welcome new brides!! Hi FutureMsMoulton! I havent wrote much on this thread since I'm getting married at ASP but have read your threads. You have been very helpful and I'm glad that everything is working out for you! Just wanted to wish you the best of luck and hope that your wedding day is very special! I bet you are relieved that it's tomorrow :-)

They did a wonderful job making us feel like we were the only people there, bringing us special cocktails in our wedding colors, and taking care of us. Our table pretty much took up the whole terrace so there was only a couple other people outside and they weren't too close to us. Danielle, sounds like we have the same set up and that is good to hear that it's at least somewhat private and not in the middle of the restaurant. Thanks for the reassurance!

And it was GREAT not taking anything with me or having to bring it back and store it or try and sell it. I also wanted to wait and pick the menu so I could try some food at the resort and see what I liked. They are really flexible, nothing starts getting made until after your meeting with her anyway so you can change your mind literally up to the point of the night before. What a relief! I know that most of the planning is done when you get there but it is so hard to not think about the little stuff. I will say that this whole experience hasnt been that stressful (knock on wood) considering I'm usually a stress ball.... But then again I still have 4 months until the day!

It was soooooooo romantic and beautiful!!! If you girls need any information please let me know. Kim Kim, congratulations and I'm glad that everything went well! The pool areas close early. We (a large group of us) would usually have drunken hot tub time around 2am...most nights nothing happened and we would just drink and hang out but our last night we got kicked out around 10pm because they said the area was already closed. I would think the beach area might be a better place to have a little gathering but there are no lights down there. Our reception was on the Mundaca rooftop. The $12 thing wasn't the case during our wedding, must be something new. There is a great area where Raulca had her wedding near the Coba gazebo, right near the water. Not completely private but off away from everything. It looked great!! Her pictures are some pages back if you want to go back and look at her slideshow. amywuts-the whole resort isn't adults only, they told you that right? 1/2 the resort is family friendly so depending on the locations you pick for events...there may be kids around. Hi NaM, You said that you did all the planning when you got there. Did you plan the private reception when you got there or did you plan that ahead of time? I see that one person on this thread set up a private reception when they got to the resort but on the email sent by Dulce she said to give her 60 day notice Just wondering how flexible they are if I do change my mind...

Many of the pool areas were completely dead at night when we were there. Also you have the option of going to the disco. We didn't have a private reception but instead just took over the disco after dinner and it was a blast! There's a bar in there and the DJs know instantly that you're a wedding party so they run around and have fun with you. We had so much fun doing this. Hey there! How many people did you have at your wedding? I'm having around 25 people and debating on having a private reception. Right now we have our dinner reservation booked for after the wedding at Mundaca... Also was your wedding dinner somewhat private and where did you have dinner?
  14. I found the thread! :-) http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...20/index5.html

But you'd still have to rent the equipment and I'm not sure they would let you use the DJ equipment without the DJ. Again, not totally sure about that, I would confirm with your WC. We had a private reception so we didn't use any restaurant. And it lasted from 6-10. I think any function outside with music has to be over by 10 pm. If you're doing the included dinner at a restaurant, they don't let you have your own private music...so no point in renting any music gear/DJ...you'd have to do a private function to have music and dancing. How many people do you have coming and where is your reception going to be? We brought our ipod dock (to have music in the rooms) and we brought it out for a welcome cocktail function the night before the wedding at the Pandero Terrace and although we thought it would be loud enough...it wasn't at all. Once people started talking and laughing and getting loud, it completely drowned out the music plus the wind and the ocean...it was like not having music at all. Luckily, they were having a fiesta on the resort so we got authentic Mexican music otherwise we would've been SOL that night in terms of music. We are having around 25 people (give or take). We tried to book the Pandero Terrace for the cocktail reception after the wedding but it's booked already so Dulce reserved another Terrace near the Coba gazebo and next to the Mundaca restaurant where we are having our dinner. The terrace looks like it might be on a roof or maybe on the Mundaca roof? I have a picture of the terrace but dont have the name of the terrace... I was a little torn with having a private reception and just doing the dinner reservation but if we have more people we will go the private reception route.
  16. I think a lot of girls on here just brought there ipod and speakers. We have a Bose ipod speaker stand that not to big to pack and think we are going to bring it vs. renting speakers or getting a DJ. The other day I took my Bose speakers stand outside to see how it sounded and it worked great. :-)
  17. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! You will find this site very helpful. As for your friend, she is a big girl and can plan her own wedding. You are a great friend for helping out but dont feel like you have to do everything. Good Luck and Happy Planning!
  18. Congratulations and welcome to the forum! We are getting married in the Riviera Maya at the Aventura Spa Palace. So far they have been great to work with (knock on wood) :-) There are a lot of places to choose from but you have come to the right place!
  19. Congratulations and welcome to the forum!
  20. I read somewhere on the forum that you can find a TON of maracas on 5th in Playa Del Carmen. There are a lot of shops on the strip and should have maracas there. If I find the thread I will post it. I think the person said they were around a $1 each...
