I thought I read somewhere you can put it towards wedding stuff?! Either way, it sounds like a great deal! We get married two weeks from tonight!!!! =) Tammy added some information on the forum with some of the details. Check out the Palace Resorts Vacation Dollars thread and here is the link: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...dollars-59346/ The PDF doc that Tammy added shows you the breakdown. I plan on printing off the information as well as the terms and conditions so that I will have it will me when I get down there so they can't dispute it.

Hello girls, I called Melissa Gomez and everyone automatically qualifies for the $1,500 Vacation Dollars unless you have more than 25 rooms. If you have more than 25 rooms then you would need to contact the group desk at 800-635-1836. For more information you can go to the home page of www.palaceresorts.com then click on Promotions. It should be the first promotion listed. When speaking with Melissa Gomez, she said that you will be credited up to $1500 or $750 depending on how long you stay. For example, if you book a tour, spa services, golf and have $850 charged to your room and you stayed 6 nights then you will be credited that amount when checking out. Just to be on the safe side make sure to confirm that information when you arrive so that you dont have any suprises. I hope this information helps.

Bose sound dock loud enough
CristiandJamie replied to md2002's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
We are going to use our Bose portable Ipod speaker and glad to hear it works great! Thank you for sharing and my doubts of using it for the cocktail/ Dinner reception are now gone! -
My friend got married a year ago and I loved her bridesmaid dress. Since the same people are in my wedding (her sister and another mutual friend) we are going to reuse the dresses for my wedding. The plus is that the only people that really know or have seen the dress is them since we are not have the same people attend my wedding. I gave my friend that got married last year my dress and she will need to get it altered but I plan on paying for the alterations. The dress is a pool colored strapless dress that gathers to the side so very simple. In her wedding she had yellow roses and we plan to have multi color flowers for our wedding so even though we have the same BM dresses the pictures will look different because of the flowers (or at least that is the plan).

I think it would be ...rather rude if they are excepting you to pay. Have you asked the wedding coordinate about "Maybes?" I would think they would round up on food. If you have to pick, I would mark them as No's. If they do show up...Its an IE resort. They can find more food =) and the booze doesnt run out! Thank you Skadow. I think I will let the wedding coordinator know about having some maybe's but for the time being I will just put them down as a no for now. I agree if they show up there should be plenty of food and booze since it's an AI. At first I was worried that I would have to order more OOT bags but think I should have enough if no more random people show up... if that happens they just wont get a welcome bag. If they ask why they didnt get one I will tell them I didnt know you were coming (no response equal no bag). I think that is fair...

But it is like the other ladies said, I guess we can't tell people where to stay. But I would be very upset about it, and well honestly, I can be a brat sometimes, head would have to roll! Thank you AishaB but the issue is that I have asked my dad and he cant answer my questions. I guess I will have to wait and see if my dad can come up with some answers... The problem too is that I'm putting together OOT bags and need a definite headcount soon so I can order more bags if needed.

I have a question for the past brides or anyone that might know.... For day passes, can someone just arrive the morning of the wedding and purchase a day pass to come to the resort? The reason I ask is that one of the people we invited said they are coming but staying off the resort and they are also coming with another couple which we didnt invite to the wedding nor do we even know... Also this is my dad's friend and I heard all of this from my dad (the person we invited didnt RSVP yet but told my dad he is coming). I dont know for sure if that is true or if he will come since he has another couple joining him and his girlfriend. It sound more like he is going on vacation and may stop by... Should I count them or wait until I get a definite answer of YES Also I dont want to reserve 4 day passes and they not show and then I'm out $350!!!!! That money could go to something else vs. people we dont know! Also am I obligated to pay for a day pass for the couple that we DONT KNOW? They werent even invited.

I have a situation were we invited my dad's good friend to the wedding which I have known this person since I was a little girl. Our wedding is a month and a half away and just now told us that he is coming as well as these other couples which we dont know. They are staying off the resort and it really isnt clear about what they are doing whether they are going to hang out with us or go to the wedding... I asked my dad and he didnt know any of the details. The Palace resorts require that you tell them beforehand if you need any day passes but not sure if they will come or not. Should I just count them out until I get a definite YES that they are coming to the wedding? What would you guys do? Also I dont even know the last name of the couple that are coming with my dad's good friend... I ask my dad and he didnt even know!!!!

Parents' gifts suggestions
CristiandJamie replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I know this might be a stupid question but who all receives gifts or who should we get gifts for? I'm thinking both sets of parents and grandparents? Also my dad remarried eight years ago... do I get my step mom a gift? -

I think you are fine but if you want to give them something little that wouldn't hurt. Maybe a necklace for the wedding or a picture frame... you dont have to spend a lot for those items but I think it would be a nice touch.

Skadow - I cant believe I only have a little over two months to go! I have done a lot but still there is a lot left to do. So far I have done the following: - Got dress & accessories / did fitting - need to get steamed - Got Grooms suit and accessories - BM have their dress - need to get jewelry but that is picked out - reserved ceremony site, cocktail reception site which will be at the Cove Terrace, and dinner reservations at Mundaca roof toop. - Plan spa day for Friday, day before the wedding for me and the girls - made reservations for hair appt for day of wedding (also for BMs and Jamie's mom) - also made dinner reservations for welcome / rehearsal dinner on Friday 6/25 - OOT bags (still need to get Pashminas for them)... also getting cigars from Mexico when we get there to put in the bags. I still need to get some gifts for the wedding party, parents, and grandparents. Also need to get some other items: fans, sand for ceremony set, tags, maracas (will buy in Mexico)... I feel like I'm forgetting something but I have all of it written down but not handy :-) As for the details of the flowers, etc. I have an idea of what I want but will finalize the day we meet with our WC. Here is our wedding website for more info: Cristi & Jamie - wedding website by mywedding.com

Please, do tell!!!! =) Does your TA have a group contract with Aventura Spa? I would check with the TA back home to see if she can work with them. Today I sent Dulce an email about only having 9 rooms and over 30 room nights to check on the free cocktail reception, she said that I would qualify since I have over 30 room nighs with my contract. Are you working with someone from the Miami office? You could possible conference the TA and the WC from Miami on the phone to see if they can work something out. It's worth a shot.

Actually I told Dulce my onsite WC on what items I wanted to add on and I was quoted the same price as what was on their site. I printed off the email with the information just in case so they cant change their minds. The best thing to do is check with your onsite coordinator and check on the add ons and if there is any extra cost. I think that the price for the flowers could vary depending on your bouquet and type of flowers... As if you are requesting something special or out of the ordinary than that might cost you more.

Do either or you have a spread sheet of addons and prices you selected? I think it was almost $1000 in savings doing the complimentary package then adding on: $505 - Photos with CD $377 - DVD $180 - BMs flower (ordering 1 bouquet and split 3 ways) $94 - Flower for mom and grandma (corsages) $300 - Civil ceremony cost $136 - Carriage ride $32 - flower for hair Total: $1624 The package was $1925 plus $300 for ceremony = $2225 Plus I would have still have to pay for a lot of the stuff above (flowers, CD of photos) so with package and all of the above it would be $2689... there is the $1000 savings. I could still add a little decor at the ceremony and still come under.

I hope they join the forum! They have some new pictures of the collections up (well since the last time I have been to the site). I am getting nervous b/c the deadline to book with my contract is May 1st, and we still only have 7 rooms booked with the travel agent. :-( a lot of people booked elsewhere because she was offering them rooms with a view and they saw the prices for the garden/parking lot rooms on orbitz/expedia and booked there. I wish she had emphasized the cheaper rooms... make sure your TA's emphasize that! I need 3 more people to book so our contract is not void. FI claims that it is not a problem but I hate how people keep saying they are coming but then don't book!!! If you are coming just book what is the problem!!!!! One of my BM just called and said she isn't coming now b/c of money so now I do not believe anyone because she swore up and down she was coming. I know I am being rude but either book or don't book don't sell me these promises and get my hopes up! I hope we can get the deadline extended. Does anyone else have this probleM? I will be so mad if people book after because then we do not get the free reception, upgrade, and room nights! I'm going through the same thing... i have one room left to book through our contract and all these people are saying they're coming but not booking! You would think that people would know if they are coming two months prior and would book not at the last minute! I guess I wont really know until a month out! Good luck!

Bride-to-be shower etiquette
CristiandJamie replied to hollym's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I've been to some showers were EVERYONE attending gets some type of gift (wine stopper, small pic frame, etc)... I know to bring a hostess gift but am I responsible for giving everyone a gift? Also do you get the main person a hostess gift or all your BMs? -
My friend is throwing me a shower when I'm in town. I live in Denver and going back to TX in a few weeks for another friends weddding so we are driving down. She doesnt seem to thrilled to do it and acts like it is putting her out. She hasnt verbally said anything but it's her actions and her tone that give it away. I told her I dont need a wedding shower. Plus we are having to drive down so that way we can bring all the stuff back with us to Denver. Maybe she feels obligated but this isnt a standard wedding and there are no rules on what to do. This might be a stupid question but for the wedding shower, who buys the favors for the attendees of the shower? I know that in the past when I was a bridesmaid, I got a wine topper but cant remember if everyone that came got one...

We didnt need the resort photographer due to the fact I'm using Del Sol. So now we are doing a private cocktail hours, 3 hour private dinner, mexican trio at cocktail hour, horse drawn carriage, dvd of ceremony, table linens, and sound system for dinner plus all of the things that are included in the complimentary package. (flowers, cake...) I ended up doing the same thing. I originally signed up for the Sapphire package and after thinking about it made more sense to change to the complimentary packaged. Also if you pick a package you have to go with the flowers in the package and really can't change anything. If you want different flowers you have to pay $180 extra on top of your package! Plus firworks didnt make sense since we are getting married at 3pm and they shoot them off right after you get married. Also dont think they are the big fireworks and just shoot sparks from the ground. They look a lot like in the pictures on there website...
