  1. Amanda and Chong, I'm just so excited for you ladies, it gives me goosebumps!!! I know that you're going to have the most fabulous weddings and everything will be perfect! Now is the time to start relishing all your hard work. The week before you leave is when the euphoria really starts to kick in! I know you both have a few days left before you jet, but we're already anxiously awaiting your return!! WOOOOOOOOOT to the future MRS'S!!!!!!!!!
  2. I found Amybermuda's planning thread. It has a picture of her bouquet plus her inspiration pics she gave them. You'll have to PM her for the price but I do remember it was ridiculously cheap! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/61350/amybermuda-s-planning-thread-mexico-may-wedding
  3. Amy, I don't think I ever commented on this! GREAT JOB! I love your ring. It's very unique! Hope married life is treating you well
  4. Sure they exist. I had one! You can see a picture of it in my resort review under my siggy. I just told them my colors (magenta and coral) and let them pick the flowers. If I had brought inspiration pictures, they would have worked around that too. My bouquet was HUGE. I don't know how big it comes across in the picture but it was quite large. The key to staying in the $50 range is being flexible with which flowers you have. If they're in season and local you'll have no problem. Amybermuda (past bride) had a custom bouquet done for very cheap. She used a thread on here that's all about which flowers are in season at certain times. I don't know the thread but you can PM her for details. A picture of it is somewhere in this thread, but you'll have to go back to posts from May/June of this year to find it!
  5. Â Welcome! If you do a search on here for Luxe you'll find a ton of reviews.
  6. Oh how wonderful!!! You can tell in your face how much that dress was meant to be yours--you're glowing
  7. You can see a pic of my cake if you click my review under my siggy. You'll also see that it was a DISASTER! However, as far as I know, I'm the only bride to come through with a disastrous Karisma wedding cake. We did a cake tasting with our onsite WC when we got there. Their standards are chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. The first two were just so-so but the strawberry was to die for. Our dinner also came with flan, so they way it worked was that we cut the cake in front of everyone and then they whisked it away to the kitchen. They plated flan with a piece of cake for each person. Everyone loved the cake so much that there was none left  Hooray for your BM seeing the light!!! It's refreshing when someone realizes the wedding is about you and not them b/c it doesn't happen all that often!  That is too funny about not being engaged until this weekend! Many CONGRATS!!
  8. Everything looks so wonderful! You really saw your vision through to the end, and I can't wait for your pro pictures! Many congrats on seeing it all come to fruition. Have a fantastic trip!
  9. Oh that is a bummer! Â Ah, makes sense. Good luck! You really can't go wrong no matter where you get married. Â
  10.  This is so true! You DO NOT need to worry about safety concerns when going to Mexico. It's understandable that people have them, but one of your jobs as the B&G will be to assure people that it's perfectly safe, especially in the tourist places. If you were going to a border town that might be different, but imagine all the money Mexico would lose if places like Cancun and Playa were dangerous. If we can get my dad to Mexico, who was afraid of guns, drugs and being kidnapped, you'll be okay  As for high-end resorts that allow kids, check out Azul Beach in the Riviera Maya. We got married there and if you're looking for chic and upscale, it fits the bill. In fact, it's advertised as "Chic Boutique." It's small with only 98 rooms and they will spoil you rotten once you're there! Â
  11. Tisha,  I love your TTD!! It's going to make for some very sexy pictures especially once you get it wet  I really like the BM dress! The color, fabric and flowy quality are great. I will be honest though and agree with you that it's more flattering on your daughter than it is on an adult. It's not unflattering by any means, it just seems like it fits better on a person with small hips.  Oh, and your invites are fantastic!!
  12. I can't wait to see how everything turns out! Great job!! I love your dress and the location of your wedding is going to be gorgeous!!!
  13. You have good reason to love your dress because it's GORGEOUS!!! Congratulations on being a MRS for a few months now and for having a beautiful wedding!
  14. So do you have any wedding pictures we can look at? Everything looks gorgeous and I'd love to see the real deal!!!
  15. Â Hi Jules, Â In my siggy is a link to my review of Azul Beach. There are a lot of photos there. Also, check out Trip Advisor. DO NOT read the reviews of AB as many are just plain wrong! But, it's a great place to go for pictures.
  16. Hi and welcome!!!! Â My personal advice is to stay away from TripAdvisor until you've actually chosen a resort and are just going to check out people's pictures. There are a lot of reviews on there about resorts that are just plain wrong! It's sad to say but people get paid to post bad reviews about resorts, and many a bride has been stressed out over reading erroneous reviews on there. Â I would say the best advice is to get a TA. Like someone already mentioned, they'll work with your criteria to help you find a resort that you love. Let them do all the leg work! If you still need a TA, the ones on here receive rave reviews. Just click the link at the top of the page. Â I got married at Azul Beach in the Riviera Maya. It's one of the Karisma properties that someone already mentioned, and it's absolutely fab! However, it's a bit pricey as are all Karisma resorts. Â Good luck!!
  17. Â You can ship things, it's just highly discouraged. They're afraid your items won't make it to the resort. If you insist, they'll give you the shipping address. We did not end up shipping anything, but at one point I thought we were going to. Â Â This is exactly the attitude to have!! For all you B2B's, in the end come wedding day, the only thing that matters is your and your FI. You won't be thinking about the people who didn't make it, or the people who caused drama, or whether your programs turned out the way you wanted. You and your future hubby are what you'll be thinking about and all the planning you've done and guests that are there are just icing on the cake! Â
  18. Â We had a signature cocktail served to our guests at the ceremony site immediately following the ceremony, and the best part is that it was free! I was never clear as to why it was free, but you should ask. Other brides I talked to said theirs was free as well. We included the recipe for our drink on our details sheet and they made it no problem. AmyKH had a tasting of some cocktails she was considering once she got down there, as I recall, and didn't send hers ahead of time. Â
  19. Wonderful, I love everything! Many congratulations on a gorgeous wedding!!! I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your dress!
  20. Â Â I have to agree with everyone else that this is an AMAZING deal!!! I saw you just posted that you booked for a bit more per person. Maybe you need to show your FI other comparable resort and the prices they're offering. It just takes getting a bit more involved in this process to realize what a steal you're getting. Â Â So definitely make sure you get this in writing! One reason we went with a Set Menu instead of giving our guests a choice of two entrees is because we were told they needed the head count of who was eating which entree two weeks before the wedding. Â Ooooh, lovely!!!
  21. I can help you out with problem #1 as I've just done a ton of research for my own situation. The short of it is, yes, you'll have to do the passport thing twice and pay twice. Since your name won't be legally changed until you 1) have your marriage license in hand and then 2) go to Social Security to change your name, you'll have to get a new passport now under your maiden name and then get a new after you're married. Sucks, I know. Â The only way around this is if you're planning on going to a JP and are having a symbolic DW. If you were to do that, you could go to a JP now and start the name change process. It varies by state, but you'd probably have your marriage license in hand within 30 days, leaving you enough time to get a new passport. I could see how that would take away from the wedding experience come February, but it's the only way to avoid paying twice.
