  1. Â Actually, this came up a couple months ago if I recall. Another bride had Memorial Day weekend 2011 and found the hotel was almost completely booked up. If I'm remembering correctly... Â If your guests stay at another property, including AB or EDR, they'd have to have a day pass to come onto AS's property. However, you might be able to negotiate free passes the day of the wedding if you're having a private reception and have paid for their meals. AB is within walking distance to AS if you walk the beach. However, I wouldn't count on AB being a viable option for your guests. AB has only 98 rooms so it's much smaller than AS. EDR is probably your best bet since it's huge, however it's not within walking distance since it's on the other side of PM. Â I will say that we walked from AB to AS and had no problem walking onto AS from the beach side. We toured the property and even helped ourselves to some soft serve! However, for your own peace of mind it'd be better to have the passes worked out beforehand as opposed to them sneaking in. Â Don't worry just yet. More rooms may come available. The rooms are divied in blocks to various tour operators, and if those tour operators don't sell them then they might become available.
  2. GREAT review Danielle!!! You hit the nail on the head when you said that as soon as you get down there you'll never hear the word "No." So true!
  3. My SIL adapted our ceremony music to the violin. I walked down to "She" by Elvis Costello. Our recessional was "Kahala March" by the Ali'i Luau. Our first song was "Lucky" by Kat Edmonson (she's local to Austin). Â Nichole and the list are MIA. Off the top of my head I can't think of any Labor Day weekend brides. Fun for you!!! Have you been before? Â
  4. Â Amanda!!!!! Oh my gosh 41 days!!!!!! How exciting! Now that the tickers are gone we don't get to see the countdowns anymore. Â I'd say you've pretty much got the To Do's covered! I can't think of anything you're missing. Except maybe scheduling a massage for yourself right before you go Oh, don't forget to make your final beauty treatments appointments if you need them: hair cut/color, nails, and wax. Â
  5. Oh YEA so happy for you!!! Welcome and happy planning. There are so many great locations you really can't go wrong.
  6. Â Gorgeous!!! I LOVE your dress! The back is very sexy. Â Sorry you had such a terrible start to your day, but it looks like everything turned out beautifully! That is great advice for the B2B's about making sure the trial person is the same as the day of person. How stupid on their part to have changed people on you! Â Good luck! Â It's like it was meant to be!
  7.  Ooh, very pretty!!! Great idea on the BM bouquets  Oh no!!!! Sorry your FI is having a meltdown over the price. PM me your email address and I'll send you our breakdown. Like Maggie, we met somewhere in the middle of where you guys are with 30 guests, 10 days at the resort, and we paid for my mom's entire trip.
  8. Wow, your MOH is a superstar!! I'm loving the stuff that she made!
  9. Â Dress #2! I like the Mori Lee dress better than the David's one b/c it's flowier and is just really cute. I like the eggplant over the Aubergine b/c I think it'll pop more in a tropical setting. What are your other colors? Sorry if you've already been over this on here...I can't keep everyone's colors straight! Â
  10. Caribe and Matias are the two officially approved that you don't have to pay the fee for. It seems they can't make up their minds on whether or not to allow other Mexican nationals in as photographers, but the last few months they've been allowing it. Meredith had great advice: tell them what you want and don't take no for an answer! Â
  11. Â Weird, same problem as Chong, quotes aren't coming up! Â Well, just wanted to say that renting the flip videos is an AWESOME idea and I so wish I'd known about it for our wedding! We had two family members filming for us and both turned our really sub par. We would've had a much better chance at getting something good with 5 of them out there. And those are bargain prices! Â I can't help with the BGSF because we only had 12 rooms. But I can tell you that my TAs response time really plummeted after we got back. She's still great and takes care of getting me what I need, but it's certainly not on the same timeline as before. I think current weddings take priority, LOL. Â
  12. Â We share a wedding date!!! Happy one year to me and happy wedding day to you!!! Â
  13. Hi there! We were married at Azul Beach (just up the road from AS) in mid April. It poured our first 3 days there. Other April brides who had dates earlier in the month than mine also encountered a lot of rain. However, one reason we chose April is because it's supposed to have the least rainfall of any month in the RM. All the locals say this year was a fluke.
  14. We did, both to the same song. First my dad and I started out and then DH and his mom joined us. Â I think that if your parents want to then you should consider doing it. It may mean a lot to them (you only get to dance at your son/daughter's wedding once!), and agreeing to it would be one of the easiest things you could do to make them happy. Waaaaaay easier than trying to figure out gifts Â
