My fiance and i are doing the same thing(kinda)..we are also going to Belize but staying on one of their private islands in a cabana on the waters edge. We are flying from Cancun into Belize airport and then the resort is taking care of the remaining transportation. Then we are returning to Cancun to return home!

My fiance and i are getting staying at our Wedding location, Dreams Tulum, for a week and then going to Belize for another week for the Honeymoon. Fiance thinks im nuts but its what i wanted since we got engaged!

Cookie, Â What they told you sounds about right with what they told me..they told me there couldnt be a dj if i didnt rent it out as a private event because there will still be other people eating there. Im just really upset because like you said it is an all inclusive resort and i have to pay 55 or more dollars per person??? I was trying to figure out other options but they wont give me any except to eat indoors which is definently not an option!! I just priced the free package out against the Love one and they actually are pretty similar. I just dont want to have to pay extra for the extra people at cocktail hour either bc i think thats like another $25 p/p...does anyone know if i can just tell them i want the cocktail hour for 20 people???

Hey guys!! Ok im getting very upset about the dinner policy situation so i was hoping you guys could help me out by telling me what you did. We were planning on doing the free package becuase i am positive we will have more then 20 guests and we thought wed save money by eliminating cocktail hour. I read on here about the $20 menu option which i REALLY need to get to keep our budget down. It was posted that they will offer you the $20 restaurant option if you pay $750 private event fee. I emailed Natalia and was told that i would have not only have to pay private event fee but also either $55/$65 silver/ gold dinners for everyone. Then i asked her what options we have in order to be able to do the $20 dinners and she said have it in the ala carte restaurant..ok great, i said we want the seaside grill and was told we cant book that untila month before and if we do that we cant have a dj. Soooo that doesnt work because we already booked a dj!! We want the reception either on the beach or in Seaside grill...can you guys tell me what they let you do about this because seriously im getting very very fusterated with all the extra costs adding up. If anyone has any suggestions for a creative, good photographer under $1500 please share!! I know this is an extremely low budget compared to what alot of photographers charge but its really all our budget allows and I still want good pictures and not just posed shots!!

Heartbeat, I am running into the same questions as you! I just secured my wedding date for July 2, 2011 but didnt know if we should book our flight and hotel room yet. The airfare was JUST released last week and package prices are way higher then ive seen them to be during all my research for the resort we chose. Therefore, we are going to wait a few months until the prices come back down and then tell people to start booking it. Hope this helps!

Hi, I was just wondering if the $5,000 included your room for the week as well or if that was in addition to the $5,000?

I am planning on assemblying them at the resort when i get there and then having the resort hang them for me for the reception. Im sure most resorts will do it for you..of course for an extra charge.

Hi everyone! I just secured my date at Dreams Tulum for July 2, 2010 @ 5. Im sooo exicted!! Im also planning on bringing hanging lanterns and was wondering the same thing..im thinking about bringing 50, and having the reception on the beach, would lanterns work there? Does anyone know how much they charge for hanging them up?

We put the maybe on there just to get an idea of who DEF will not be coming...I was also thinking it might be a pain if we dont hear from some people but i guess ill send another one our when i do that actual invites. That way ill only have to send the invites to the maybes and yes responses! I do like the flip flop idea! so far I have... for yes..Our bags are packed! Cant wait to feel the sand between our toes!! thanks for the great review! I have been trying to figure out which would be more cost effective for us. We were going to do ala carte and get the gold menu and i was thinking that would be $65 per person (we're planning on having about 30 guests) but now that you shared the idea about ordering dinner of the seaside grill menu for $20 a person that sounds much more reasonable! But im still not sure bc we wanted cocktail hour, photography and mariachi band?? So im stuck on which to pick!!!

What else do u need to supply the resort with for them to hang them? Sting or anything like that? I have wanted lanterns in my wedding since the beginning but wasnt sure how it would work out having the resort do it. Thanks for great idea..im so excited!

Umm this thread def has me thinking!! We are planning to marry at Dreams Tulum and have a 10k Budget. That includes wedding and honeymoon (to a different location). Not the dress, rings, stds etc..i figured we could pay for those things throughout the next year little by little. What do u girls think? Am i crazy for thinking this?

Im very confused about the legal fees for a wedding at Dreams Tulum. It says in all the packages (even the free one) that services of Justice of the Peace are included but then under customized wedding services it says its $600 for the services of a judge(paperwork, judge, spanish marraige license ect.) Is this included in all the packages or do i need to add it on? SOrry if this sounds like a stupid question but im just not sure because everyone on the forum says how much more expensive it is to do a Legal wedding, so its making me think this $600 is an extra fee.
