  1. Cristi, Yes, I am a native. Born in Denver, raised in Durango (where all the snow is!) and have been back in Denver for the past 14 years. We live in Arvada....but I used to live out in Green Valley Ranch (close to you). Always funny to find other Denverites on here!!!
  2. So I asked about the "family pleacing decorations" thing and was basically told there is no "right or wrong" answer to this. Merely, if this is something you need us to do, we will take care of it to make this your dream wedding. I think that it rolls down to expectations versus their kindness.....they will go out of there way once you are there to make things roll smoothly as a kindness. Does that make sense? I feel much better now and am off to figure out the wording of our actualy invitations that I haven't sent out yet! LOL
  3. One more thing....she made a note that the carpet to the Tucan Gazeba was light brown. In all the pictures I have seen it shows red. I don't care either way, but I am a little concerned that we are both confused. I clearly wrote (Tucan Gazebo 1pm Confirmed via email) and she cleary wrote back (Si) in red. Hmmmm...
  4. Hello ladies, Last week I sent a word doc with EVERY detail broken down in catgories with all my questions listed beneath. I got back a response from Lily color coded and everything....but now I have a couple questions for those who have already completed their weddings. I was told I would have to have a family member decorate our recption tables (if I wanted flower petals/candles that I brought put out on them). Did anyone else have to do this or was it done for you? I am not paying the decorating company to come in....just wanted the extra petals and some tea lights spread around. Also, along the same lines, I was told I would have to have a family member/bridesmaid put the sashes on the chairs in the chapel ahead of time. I suppose I figured I would give the sashes to the wedding coordinator and it would just be done. Am I assuming too much? Thank you for your advice in advance.
  5. Welcome to BDW. Playa Mujeres was my first choice....I'm so jealous! Congrats and good luck planning!
  6. Just in case you girls miss the Moon palace Photogrpahy thread....the website for the Palace Resort photographers and videographers is Weddings. Hope this helps you in your decisions!
  7. OK ladies...ask and you shall recieve! The website for the Palace resort photographers and videographers is Weddings. There is a link to pictures taken by the resort photographers from each Palace Resort. I hope this helps!
  8. Oh wow Brooke....they let you seperate the free bouquet into arrangements? That is a very clever idea and one I had not thought about. I had basically thought I was giving it up by bringing my own bouquet! THANK YOU for sharing that thout...I can't wait to see your review and any other great ideas you had!!!
  9. Keep in mind that what I wrote was my opinion of the photos. I am very particular when it comes to photography....my friends are more laid back and love what they have. As I said above....I think it is hit or miss, because I have seen some really good shots from MP photographers on some of the reviews on BDW. As well, there are many brides on here that love the photos and video's they got. Being as critical of this particular point as I am, I am just choosing to take my own photographer with me instead. Hope that made sense. Good luck everyone!
  10. Congrats Congrats! You looked stunning! Can't wait to hear more details...but I am so happy everything worked out!
  11. Yes, I've seen the photos on several reviews....but what I was referring to is a website for him. I know I saw an actualy website featuring the MP photographers on this forum....I just can't for the life of me remember where I found it. And of course I didn't bookmark it when I looked at it. I'll keep looking though! Thanks!
  12. Wow...your photography is incredible. Beautiful shots! I think I posted this somewhere else on this forum, but don't remember where. I have friends who got married at MP about 2 years ago and they purchased the large package with photography and video...so I have seen the Palace Resort wedding video and her album. My impression....well, I am bringing a photographer with me...put it that way. The video is fairly short and choppy. It does not carry through the entire process....they cut and paste specific tid bits and music together with a stock palace resorts background for intro. The shots fade between. She has about 36 photos in her album and a cd. There seems to be no work with lighting involved and the poses are very staged, stiff and unfortunately cheesy. I would say there are about 3-4 good pics of them after the wedding...the rest I could have taken with my digital and no other tools! Now....I don't know who they got assigned as photographer....but I have heard, like everyone else, that David Pena is the one to ask for. And I have seen some photos that are great on this forum from MP photographers. So it may be a hit or miss thing. ***Also, I know I saw a website in my digging for David Pena at some point on this forum. I will keep looking because I know there is one out there! But you can't find it in google.
  13. See....you can't go wrong as long as the process is working for you. Either way works! Good luck Indrn2004.....we are all here to help if you need it!
  14. Personally, I would suggest working with a TA. MP has honored the group contracts done by TA's, as well most TA's will work with you on a Group Contract with the hotel. That is what they do best! Plus, if they are good, they can get you package deals that match or beat anything you can find. My suggestion would be to try the BDW TA's....all you have to do is submit an inquiry from the flashing colorful banner at the top of the page. Tammy....the host of this forum....is one of the TA's and she has been very helpful with my group. I am not doing a group contract, but I know she would be able to help you...as I am not her first MP wedding by any means. Good luck! Don't go it alone when there are TA's that can take the stress off of you!
  15. Thank you for sharing the information. I agree with you that more than likely all will be fine. No matter what resort you pick, you have to stand your ground and always keep proof of your conversations. I'm one that believes the old saying..."You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar"....and I think as long as you have a confirmation and present it in a respectful manner....all should be honored. Of course, I'm not used to getting my way very often either! LOL Take care and again, thanks for sharing! PS - Are you in Denver?
  16. Wow...I've been wondering about this as well, but didn't think to ask. We are having a symbolic ceremony at Moon Palace with about 15 family members and friends. Our families and friends are all from very different walks of life...so we too have wondered what to do afterwards that would be ok for everyone. Ultimately we are going to have the ceremony at 1pm, champagne toast and cake afterwards and then an afternoon siesta break! We are having a dinner on the terrace of one of the restaurants (not a private function as it is too costly). The restaurant typically has some sort of musicians in the evening so we are not paying for a dj or a band. No fireworks, paper lanters or dance floor either. Just an intimate dinner with 15 of our closest peeps....with a small gift at everyone's plate and a good time. I think this is the way to go and I like everyone else's ideas posted above as well!
  17. I heard that the 24 hour room service Fries are THE BEST! I can't recall how many places I read that...but I thought it was funny!
  18. I too saw that article and wondered. However, I haven't heard anything since that article came out. For what it's worth....and as you probably saw on the dw.com thread....I originally booked through dw.com because of the supposed "relationship" they had with Moon Palace. They even had them listed as on of the top 5 partner hotels. However, shortly after I booked I noticed that all Palace Resorts were removed from their website and that is when my TA at the time spoke briefly with me about possibly changing to one of the Azul resorts. I didn't want to change and the Azul resorts were way out of my price range....so i stayed with MP and never heard another word about it again. Until I changed TA's all together. My point being...I don't know if Palace Resorts is in trouble or not. I imagine they are struggling just like every other resort out there. However, with that said, I personally think that dw.com will do anything to get you to one of the partner resorts they work with. This is purely my opinion. If anyone else knows anything I too would love to hear.
  19. WOW...I LOVE LOVE LOVE your bouquet! You have some great ideas I hadn't thought about! I just bought those same fans on sale at Michaels this wekeend and have been wondering (with my non-creative mind) how I was going to decorate them! This has helped alot! Great job!!!!
  20. Scorpio30 - No, I am actually using my brother-in-law for photography. He is an incredible photographer, very photo journalistic style. Also, since he and his wife will be attending the wedding I don't have to pay for him to be on-site. In return we are purchasing a few new camera gadgets he needs to deal with the sun....but he is so excited and so are we! Kathryn190 - WOW....that is an amazing dress. I could never pull that dress off...I'm WAY to curvy in a not slender in the middle kind of way! LOL.....but I love it!
