  1. Ha.....my FI is the same way! He checked with his best man to see if he still had the pants from the last wedding he went to at the same resort. He does, so I am getting the pants to see if we can find some that match for my FI. HELLO GUYS...we are getting married in a little over 2 months and you want custom shirts like Charlie Sheen off the Two and a Half Men show?? Where is a cerveza when you need one! LOL
  2. MRhoades: Great OOT Bags. love all the contents and your use of the monogram! Great job! Indy_Chic: That sucks! First lesson in writing anything of length....always do it in a word document and save periodically. The internet and our computers are so unpredictable....it is always best to save a copy of your work in a file....even if just briefly. When you run tot he bathroom or for aquick beer during your typiing....and a especially typing for 2 hours....your internet window is going to "time out" on you. I can't wait to read your review!!! Blondy: The contract and website all say 30 days prior. HOWEVER, as you have noticed, most of us are in contact with a WC long before our actual wedding....or even 30 days. I have been speaking to my WC since November of last year. Of course, when I say speaking....I mean about 3 emails with some of the more important questions mapped out.....not a giant onslaught of questions that can really honestly wait until 3 months prior. It's really not bad at all...you just have to be patient and pleasantly persistant as they can be very busy. Hope everyone had a great weekend! I'm off to find new job....getting laid off in a month! Gotta start the hunt today!!! Wish me luck!!

People's opinions vary quite greatly on the subject of DW's....but typically the haters are those who are either single or just can't afford to go and resent it. My whole family is going...my fiance's sister is coming and the rest are planning to attend an after party when we get back. No hard feelings...quite the opposite. We have given our families a reason to vacation and party!
  4. Those discussing OOT bags....we went to Dollar Tree and found the travel packs of Tylenol singles, Tums powder singles, gatorade powder singles. We bought boxes of Chiclet's gum from walmart...lots cheaper than personalized m&ms like we originally planned. We found the big mesh beach bags on the clearance section at Walmart for $3.00 a piece. Also included: -Some games for the kids -Bright nail polish kits from Claires for the teenage girls -Pashmina ordered from a group order on here -Bandaids for the accident kits (Tylenol, Tums and Gatorade in there too) -Zipper key card/tip holder with coil wrist band from Oriental Trading That's it for my ideas. Not very creative....but still fun!
  5. Thanks Ashnic....that helped quite a bit. I just emailed WC about the guest pass situation. Hopefully the rules haven't changed. Thanks!!!
  6. Ashnic and Woodsylou...and anyone else who knows, What is the deal with day passes for off site guests? The last of our guests to book have decided to stay offsite at the Westin. We plan to purchase their day passes, but are not sure what the restrictions are. Time on site? All inclusive for them too? Will they be able to stay for the reception dinner? Do we need to give them the money to or can we purchase for them upon their arrival...etc, etc, etc. Just wondering what you gals have been told as tthe previous guidelines have been removed from the palaceweddings website. It now says contact your WC for details, which I plan to do after I hear from you all. Thanks girls!!!
  7. Tricia, Congratulations!!! You looked incredible and sounds as if it was your dream day. I'm so happy for you. Your review was well worth waiting for. We initially picked Excellence Playa Muejeres as our wedding site, but due to ids in the family changed to MP. So glad I did! Thank you for taking the time to put the review together! Congrats! Chelle
  8. Holy Cow! Good for you for sticking to your guns. I am honestly amazed at the pure lack of communication that all brides seem to get in one form or another from these very large resorts. They cater primarily to populations outside of their own country, yet they act as if they have no idea how to communicate. I work in the marketing world and I find it astonishing that these large, mega resorts with huge brands...sometimes even corporate brands....are lacking the initiative or advisement that it would be in their favor to hire communication directors to implement processes in how comminucations are handles for both weddings and groups. I wonder sometimes if corporate groups get treated differently than wedding parties....they tend to be larger profit generators I would assume...with multiple room blocks and meeting space contracts. Either way....I am happy as a clam that you got things figured out! Way to go!!! Can't wait to read your review!
  9. I was just wondering the same thing. I hope you got it figured out, but would love to hear what happened. Let us know.
  10. luchdiamond, There is a good thread dedicated to the restaurants at Moon Palace. I will find and bump it for you so you can find it. PS - We are having our small (15+ people) reception dinner at the Arrecifies restaurant on their terrace)
  11. Hello and Congrats! We are getting married at the Moon Palace in Cancun in July. We orignially picked the Excellence Cancun resort...but it was adults only and I have kids in my family between the age of 9-17. So we switched to Moon Palace....family friendly and couple friendly. Also, it's easy enough to switch to another Palace Resort in Cancun (there are 4 others) for the last half of your trip....to "get away"! Good luck!
  12. It sounds as if you went through your TA for the promo deal they were offering....and did not book a Group Contract through MP? Is this correct? My understanding, which is slim, is that the Free Functions were only offered through the Group Contract directly through MP. However, I have heard of other brides on BDW that have recieved the same Free Functions promos offered by MP through their TA. There really seems to be no consistant answer to your questions as some seem to get it all and some don't. NOW, recently the MP updated their Group Contract page...but they kept the same language of: * Function area will be assigned upon availability and confirmed upon arrival ** Complimentary nights will be credited through group contract post travel. Applies to all wedding collections & complimentary package for groups booked with a signed group contract & specific # of rooms. On line bookings do not qualify. Although this may not be helpful to you, my suggestion would be to go back to your TA if you did not sign a Group Contract with MP in the first place. It really sounds like something should have been in writing from either the TA or MP to gaurantee the Free Functions and the Comp Nights. I personally would go back to the TA and have her explain to me how she was able to get you the Free Functions and not the 7 Comp Nights....seems that they should go hand in hand either way. Good luck! Hope some of the other girls can help you out!
  13. Alison....too funny! I remember back in July 2009 and it felt like July 2010 would NEVER get here! It was a big deal when January rolled around...and then the 6 month mark....so on and so forth! Counting months...then weeks and soon days! We've all been there...staring WAY OFF into the distance...but it really does go by fairly quickly. The day to day events in your life pass the time by so quickly! Enjoy it!
  14. Woodsy, Glad to see you back! I too had to take a break for a bit....but am still in the same boat of "let it be". I will probably get amped up and nit picky when it the last week! LOL I have 12 weeks and you have 14....NOT BAD! Vacation time!!!
  15. WOW Ashnic....congrats on the upgrade! Sounds like you will be having a wonderful time! Hooray!!!!
  16. Love the email. Very informative and suggestive...not at all pushy. You did a great job and I hope it helps!
  17. Oh man, do I feel for you girls with your booking frustrations. Fortunately for us, we went into this DW planning with the thought of...."If they come, they come. If they don't, the don't. Either way...WE will be there." I know this philosophy is not helpful or supportive to most of you....especially when this is your first wedding, your dream wedding. This is MY first actual wedding (but third marriage) and it is my dream wedding...but I just got tired of stressing myself out over it...and pestering everyone about their travel. I felt like a broken record whenever I would get around people...."So...are you coming?" "So...did you send off for your passport yet?" "So....any words I could twist into a backwards way of asking if they had book." LOL My 9 year old daughter is coming with us and we waited, and waited, and waited for others to book who were planning flying down with her instead of us. We waited SO long that we finally gave up and booked her ticket to fly with us. This waiting cost us an additional $500+ dollars for her airfare than if we would have just booked her when we booked ourselves. AND the folks we were waiting on.....they STILL haven't booked. So, we never did a group contract....and just planned a great, fun, stress free vacation! I just couldn't do it....I don't have the mindset, time or stress availability to worry about holding everyone else's hand. That sounds so crass....but what I really want is to go to Mexico, have our 2 hour event on ONE day of our entire vacation, sit down to a wonderful meal with all our friends and family who do show up....and enjoy the rest of the time with whomever wants to join! Boy do I feel like a stick in the mud after reading what I just wrote...but I can't say I would change any of it. I suppose my words to you all would be, TRY not to stress too much. You all are so very creative with so many awesome ideas. I wish I could be a fly on the cabana to watch your events....I'm sure they are going to be magnificent!!!
  18. She did our monogram as well. We wanted simple and elegant...and I too had her switch our names so that my fiance's was before mine. Super fast and super personality!
  19. Congratulations and welcome to BDW! This forum should help you narrow down your search....just pop into each of those resort dedicated threads and you will find tons of information. Good luck!
  20. OK....I don't mean to alarm anyone....but just in case you haven't seen the news lately....the producer of the show Survivor has been accused of by the Mexican government of the murder of his wife AT MOON PALACE. Her body was found today in a gutter at Moon Palace in Cancun. OK.....so my guests are freaking out now. I've already heard..."Quite the up-scale place you picked Chelle!" OK PEople...this is not a random killing...this is a domestic murder at a resort, which is what I am reminding everyone of. But seriously.....none of us really needed this to happen at the resort we are getting married at. Shit will happen....but Geez...why on my watch! Had to vent. Sorry.
  21. WOW...good luck! There are so many resorts out there....I'm sure any one of them would be happy to take the ball and roll with it. I'm assuming it is just the two of you....if so maybe try an adults only resort like Excellence Playa Mujeres or ADventura Spa Palace....or any one of the adults only resorts out there. Don't let the speedy planning stress you out...no matter where you pick....they will do most of the planning with you once you arrive. Just come dress in hand and ready to have fun! Good luck and congratulations!
  22. Congratulations and welcome to BDW! I am getting married at Moon Palace in July....so I am a bit biased. However, MP and Dreams seem to be the most mainstream Cancun wedding resorts.....there are a ton of other resorts that do weddings...but these two seemt to be the biggest. As for the horse drawn carriage....it is an option. Comes with all of the packages except the free package, but you can elect not to do it. If you do the free package it is a la carte $136usd. Several of us MP brides have pics of the terraces and such...so feel free to pm us and we would be happy to share. There are two really good threads on this forum for MP....Moon Palace 2008-2009 brides and Moon Palace 2010 brides. TONS of information shared on these threads. The Catholic shapel (to my knowledge) does not have any specific requirements that differ from any other location. It just needs to be available on your wedding day. I believe you may have to legally get married down there to do the catholic wedding.....versus getting legally married in the states and just doing the symbolil ceremony there. Good luck...ask away and congrats! Hope to see you around. Chelle
  23. Absolutely beautiful! Glad you went weith your gut feeling on the photos....it's always our gut feeling that says the right thing! You looked fantastic and I'm glad you had a great time! Thank you for taking the time to share with us! Congratulations!!!
