  1. Debs- I really like your suggestion- offer her an opportunity to continue the friendship but plan around her. Maybe one day you'll understand why did this. Although admittedly it is truly bizarre. I'm really sorry you had to deal with this- but make sure you have a fabulous time regardless!
  2. We took most of what was mentioned above into consideration. But another huge one factor for us was budget! The travel for our guests was significantly cheaper outside of the December-March high season. We wanted it to be cold at home (Ontario) and not too close to Christmas and not too expensive for our guests. This is how we arrived at the beginning of November. Just something to keep in mind.
  3. I agree with Nadine and Tammy. Everyone is invited with a guest, although I too want to keep the numbers small. I think traveling is more fun with someone you're close to, plus it will make the guests more independent before and after the wedding day. Perhaps the guests can come to the party afterward even if they don't come to the plated dinner or something. There must be some compromise out there. Just my thoughts on this!
  4. Wow. This thread is way too much fun. I love the bird cake toppers. Like KittenHeart I never even thought of a cake topper, but now it is going on my Christmas list. So cute. And a perfect memento!
  5. Really cute stuff! Too bad about the no shipping to Canada part. On the plus side, no surprise customs charges...
  6. I haven't done my invites yet, but I actually prefer your wording to the more formal way. Just my two-cents.
  7. I think both look great on you, but if you feel like you cannot wear dress #1 then get dress #2- it looks amazing especially for an at-home wedding.
  8. I fully agree it doesn't matter as well! You should both love your rings, so if they look different who cares as long as you each love what you wear.
  9. Thanks for sharing your experience Jess! Maybe I can deal with the whitestrips to save a couple of hundred dollars if the results are going to be the same.
  10. I just made the same decision. And chose PV. I chose it because there was a lot of good properties AND there is something for everyone there. Culture, shopping, adventure tourism, golf etc. Plus I knew all of my Canadian friends and family would be pissed if they few across the continent not be able to swim in the ocean.
  11. Let us know! I am very curious as well I hate those whitestrips.
  12. Wow, you weren't kidding about having a lot of starfish stuff. Great find.
  13. Thanks guys for the great thread! These are my colours too! Unfortunately I haven't got so far into the planning that I have things like BM dresses, but I will post once I get there.

Welcome! I was in Tulum a year or two ago and it was beautiful. The beach was probably the best I have ever seen. Great choice!
  15. Wow- you did a great job. I love your flowers. Such a beautiful punch of color!
  16. I think we're going to do the same. Invite everyone we'd otherwise invite. If we do end up having to have an AHR then i would want something casual, like drinks and apps at my parents house or something. We'll see if the family lets me get away with it.
  17. We have the same colours! I think what he wants will look amazing and be a really nice contrast against the sand for the photos. Besides because it is a DW you can do whatever you want.
  18. Well you are definitely not the only one. I have no idea what type of dress to wear and I am starting to dread that inevitable question! I am really small so I think just about every dress I try on will end up wearing me! Good luck with the hunt.
