We live in Austin, Texas where we had almost two months of over 100 degree days with humidity and no breeze. It was a nice break for us in July. We got there 6 days before the wedding and checked out the site every afternoon starting at five. We were planning to have both the cocktail hour and the reception/dance outside starting at 5. We felt the coctail hour would of been a little hot but by 6 it really started getting more pleasant. I hope this helps. Thanks a ton! That real helps. I was thinking it couldn't be any worse than Alabama in August, that's for sure!
  3. Ok girls, so I have chosen my date and my resort...Le Blanc on August 7th, unless something drastic happens, then it's Sensatori! You girls are SO much fun!! Can I be an honorary "Azul Bride?" I really appreciate all your help and feedback! Basically my decision came to this: both resorts were equally as cool, but I think I can get more for my money at Le Blanc, with more things included in packages, cheaper DJ's, etc. Although I wanted to stay in the riviera, I think Cancun will be fun too!

I may let them throw me a lingerie shower in the town I live in now and no bachelorette party. THEN, when we get to Mexico, go out on the town Thursday night for my bachelorette party. Then meet up with the guys around midnight and do a joint party! (I think he is still having a bachelor party though.) SO many decisions...
  5. Thank girls! Yall (from the South I told ya!) are so nice! Ok, so here is the deal with my location...I looked at Azul Beach and Sensatori, El Dorado, Secrets Silversands, and Grand Velas. Obviously, Grand Velas was WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for my guests! I LOVED Silversands and Sensatori. I am so stuck on the modern resorts; it's just my style I guess. I was about 99% positive I was booking Silversands, but I couldn't find one single wedding review. Then, I was 99% positive I was booking Sensatori. LOVED the Sky Wedding and the cute decor and restaurants. Well, after adding up everything that is not included, it was going to be well over $30,000 for my wedding, reception, dress, etc. Then, I came across this jewel of a resort: Le Blanc! I had originally refused to get married IN Cancun, but I started researching it and fell in love with the modern feel and the REVIEWS! The resort is perfect for me. And I know we are not supposed to look on Trip Advisor, but I couldn't help myself. They were about 90% positive. After thinking about it, it probably would be fun to go party in Cancun...why not?! We have a super fun group and we love to go out and have fun! I emailed them yesterday to confirm my date, so we will see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and it was priced about the same as Sensatori for my guests and includes all kinds of stuff for me in it's packages. Plus, if I book 10 rooms, I get a free cocktail party. If I book, 25, which is definitely possible...I get UNLIMITED private functions! Ok sorry for the novel...what is going on with yall and your planning?!?!
  6. August 7th!!! Yippee! It is going to be HOT. Being from the South, we are used to the hot, humid weather. I am just wondering exactly HOW HOT IS IT? We are super excited though, and I am SO ready to start planning like crazy!!
  7. Do you recommend talking to a few travel agents before choosing which one to go with? Does every TA get the same prices? What are some things I should look for in choosing a TA? THANK YOU!!!
  8. These girls are SO right! They gave me the same advice. LISTS, LISTS, LISTS!! I had "must haves," "things I could leave without," and "no way!" I have finally narrowed it down to two...however, there will be about 50 times that you change your mind and want to sit on the computer all day researching resorts. ha! Just stick to what you like. Good luck!
  9. How HOT is it exactly? Being from the south, I am used to steamy hot summer nights. I guess I was hoping it would be a little cooler, being right on the water...am I wrong?
  10. Good idea about the cardboard box! And they look as "real" as real flowers?
  11. Thanks girl! I loved Silversands too, but like you said, maybe a tad too modern. I had heard Silversands looked "cheap." Was that the case? It seems like such a cool place!!
  12. I am July or AUg 2010 and am using a TA for sure! I think it helps with weather, etc. And since I am looking at the middle of hurricane season, that is definitely necessary! Most TA's do not charge you, because they get paid a commission from the resort. I know DW.com charges $50, but it goes towards your vacation when you book it. (or so I have heard)
  13. We are considering our honeymoon there? Any feedback on specific resorts?
  14. We are trying to decide whether we should just stay at the resort or go somewhere within an hour or so! Do you get a lot better deals doing a "weddingmoon" as compared to a honeymoon?
  15. How are you transporting the flowers? Will they get ruined in your suitcase? I have been considering doing the same thing since flowers are NOT cheap!!!
  16. Hey! Congrats!!! I was in the same boat as you guys and am still trying to make my final decision on a resort. Everyone on here gave me this advice: Make a list of your "must haves." Then, start researching resorts that meet those qualifications. Once you have a list, you can do more research on this website to see how brides liked the resort, wedding coordinators, etc. Also, a travel agent will be a big help! Ask tons of questions on here and you will get some fabulous ideas! GOOD LUCK!!!! Keep us posted!
  17. I was considering Maroma myself!! WHat made you decide on Secrets Maroma? CONGRATS! Happy Planning!
  18. Congrats!!! I am trying to decide between Le Blanc in Cancun and Azul Sensatori near Playa. You will LOVE this forum. You can search pretty much any wedding topic you can thing of and find great ideas! Good luck!
