  1. Congrats!! Check out the boards here on Hawaii...I'm sure that they can offer you lots of advice and that you will see many threads that will help with your planning.
  2. Hi, We are thinking about booking Sandals in St. Lucia but are not 100% sure yet because of travel issues and such. Still...I want to hold my place if I can. Some question is this.... is the $400 deposit refundable? If you change your mind and want to switch your deposit to another Sandals resort, are you able to? Thanks.

I got the smallest stamps from zazzle and stamps.com they are exactly the same size... so both too big. If you want the photo stamps maybe you could work something out with Ginger and maybe you can do an oversized postcard? or if you end up using the envelopes the size wouldn't be a problem! I looked for smaller personalized photo stamps but haven't had any luck. Let me know what you end up doing! ~Jaime Just an update. First of all..Ginger is a DREAM to work with. Second...there was an easy fix for the stamp issue. I told Ginger that the smallest custom stamp was 1.8 by 1.3 and had noticed that there was some room below the address section. She simply re-typset it and moved the address lines down!! Now the vertical stamp will fit perfectly!! Thank goodness...the only postcard stamp the post office had was a polar bear!! I just ordered my custom stamps from Zazzle. BTW...my proofs look AMAZING!! Can't thank you enough for this thread.

To address Classdiva's previous argument, while it may be possible to pull the 'RSVP' card, it may not help given that the OP is trying to cut it off at a certain NUMBER of people, not by a certain date. Also, if the wedding date and the 'RSVP by date' are very far apart, it may still look bad, i.e. why does a guest have to make such an big financial/time commitment so far in advance or risk being cut off? I know I probably would not be sure if I could make such a commitment until 1-2 months before as my money and time constraints can vary quite a bit in a year. If I was told I needed to let them know 8 - 10 months before I would just decline the invite. You make some very good points. The guests were required to RSVP one month after getting the details for an event that is 8 months out. I probably would not assume that my "true" cut off date was October 15th!!! Okay...so much for playing devil's advocate!!! LOL
  5. It must be my age....I had never heard of such a thing....until now. LOL Sounds like it's pretty standard in some circles.
  6. Wow....this is my biggest fear. As I have to pay a per person fee for my reception as I am not at an all-inclusive, I am scared that we will go waaaay over too. I plan to send out 150 STD's but only want 100 people MAX!!! If 60 show up great. The thing is...you just never know. I was in a wedding three years ago in Jamaica where the bride thought that her co-workers, distant family and mere aquaintances would not come. Well...a wedding that was supposed to be for 100 people...turned into a destination wedding for over 200 people!!! As a result, we have a "must invite" list and even that is at 150 invites. FI's mother keeps saying that most of her family can't attend. I wonder if she knows what she is talking about. Everyone that I have spoken to....wants to come!!! EEK!! LOL With respect to the OP...can I play devil's advocate? In this case, the bride had a cut-off date of October 15th to RSVP. Why can't she cut it off? No....I don't think that this is the ideal situation....and I would be loathe to do it...but technically, she kept the option to attend open until October 15th....right? This is why we have RSVP dates.

I think that you have a right to be upset about the fact that all she gave you was a card when she spent 60K on her daughter's wedding. How does she think that makes her son feel? In my case, my FI's younger brother is the favorite son. Although their family is of modest means, Mom took out a reverse mortgage to help with the younger brother's wedding. When she heard that we were getting married, although no one had asked for a dime, she promptly told my FI that she is broke and has no money. It broke his heart. Not because we wanted her money...but the fact that she would treat her kids so differently. Not only that...but we will probably have to finance her trip to our wedding
  8. Just wanted to say that your son Martez is just about the cutest little thing!! Good luck in planning your wedding.

Lisa...I love Randy....but I think he was wrong on this one....she felt amazing in that dress...she just lit up. I hope that the dress I find makes me feel that way.
  10. Congrats to you!!! That is wonderful news!!

"curvy" means different things for all of us tho. if your weight is more evenly distributed, or if curvy just means big-busted for you, then go for it! and i say try on at least one in that style regardless of what anyone says! i was pleasantly surprised at how i looked in some things that even *i* hated on the hanger or thought would be disasterous on me. good luck! Thank you for the advice. I am more top heavy than anything...but have a bit of a stomach. I guess I will have to see how the style actually looks on me. I love the style though. BTW...you were a beautiful bride!!!

  13. So very sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. This is a tough decision that only you can make. Since you asked... my opinion is that if it were me...I would not replace her. It is perfectly fine to have an uneven number of BM's and GM's. In fact...this will be the case with me. I also love your idea or incorporating a memory candle or such in the ceremony. I wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do.
  14. These are gorgeous!!! You must be soooo happy!!

LOL I just love, love, love them!! Alas....it might not be possible. I wonder if the post office has a standard minimum size since both zazzle's and stamps.com's smallest size is the same. I may just have to find some nice...regular stamps....we shall see. Ginger has already been in contact with me and I am sooooo very excited to see these STD's. I think that we are just going to go with the postcard too...but those envelopes are gorgeous!! I will keep you posted.
  16. Is/did anyone here choose a mermaid or trumphet shaped gown? I just saw a repeat of Say Yes to the Dress yesterday from last year where a curvy bride fell in love with an purchased a Lazaro trumphet shaped dress that Randy thought was a mistake. First of all...if anyone knows where I can find that dress...or a good copy....please let me know. I liked the way she looked in it. Second....has anyone here chosen a mermaid/trumphet shaped gown to wear? I know that many think it is risky on a larger bride. Personally...I want to be sexy and shapely....I thought that a trumphet gown might be a good compromise. Thanks.
  17. I agree with everyone else...just put her on IGNORE!!! All of that bad energy will only come back to one person...HER!!! Enjoy!!

Congratulations, sweetheart! Next July, the month in which your dream will become reality, will be here before you know it! Thank you...yes...I was stressed at the start...but with my Mom by my side and the SAGE advice found here by people like you....we just forged ahead...I am really excited...so much to do though!!! LOL

Oh well I lost 40 lbs I should show it off Oh yes you should show off that incredible weight loss!! Congrats!!
  22. One more question...I see that you said that even the smallest stamps from Zazzle covered up some parts of the postcard. Did the stamps from stamps.com work better? Thanks.
  23. I must thank you for this post. When I first saw it...I fell in love with these postcards. The site however said that they were sold out and could not be ordered at this time. Well, last night, I was showing my FI one of my final choices for a STD card and told him that he just had to see these STD's that unfortunately, were not available...yours. When we clicked on the link to Ginger's site...lo and behold there was ONE order available!! I could not believe it. Let me tell you...I placed my deposit with a quickness!! I am sooo happy!! I can't wait for Ginger to contact me and get started on my STD cards. My FI loves them too. BTW...did you order the envelopes too? They look stunning too. We are thinking of just getting the postcards and having Ginger type in the addresses. We also want to steal your idea for the stamps from zazzle. Again...thank you!!
