  1. Congratulations on your engagement and welcome!
  2. I'm getting married in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands because there isn't a waiting period at all (and of course because it's beautiful!). Also, the Virgin Islands is a good place to consider because they don't have a waiting period either. Happy Planning!
  3. I think the Legal requirements coming off a cruise for St. Maarten and St. Thomas are the same...but I think you have to be on the island 24 hours before you can apply for a license and get married in the Bahamas if I was reading everything correctly...not sure but let me know if I'm wrong! The Virgin Islands is really easy - you just fill out all the paperwork ahead of time and when you arrive at the port you would just need to go to the courthouse to pick up your license which is ready to go (with an escort is best). If you speak to a WC in the area (Island Beach Weddings or Perfect Virgin Island Wedding Day) they can arrange everything for you and get you where you need to go and get married wherever you choose on the island! : ) Hope this helps some!
  4. I understand what you're going through! It's a hard decision. When I'd thought I was getting married in St. Thomas I chose to go with Janelle of Island Bliss Weddings. If you are still looking into St. Thomas or around there - I have some great sites for you to take a look at: Island Bliss Weddings Virgin Island Perfect Beach Wedding Oh and the best photographer!! (He does TTD sessions too!) both below are his sites. http://www.paradisepictures.vi http://ejsphotos.zenfolio.com/ Good luck with your planning!
  5. Wow, what a great review! I thought about getting married on the cruise ship but I'm so worried about things being too non-personal or that I'll end up with someone so rude it would ruin my day which I definitely don't want because once I'm in a mood it takes a bit to snap out of it. I am getting married on the beach at one of the ports...but I keep toying with the idea of an onboard wedding. Who knows...until I have a definite on who we'll choose in the end it's still a chance... lol Thanks for the insight and the great tip, you're certainly right about all you said!!
  6. Ok...so, I booked our cruise to the Cayman Islands!! So, hopefully things will work out and the weather will be just right for April, 2010. Thanks for all the advice - it was very helpful!!
  7. When I was looking into getting married in St. Thomas I was writing back and forth to Janelle of Island Bliss Weddings and Deb of Virgin Island Perfect Wedding Day. Janelle was wonderful...and Deb is super nice and very helpful and has great packages that can be customized...She seemed to be very good at what she did, very helpful and gives lots of suggestions....I would recommend her as well...but for me, she'd be #2, Janelle of Island Bliss Weddings would be #1. Good luck with your planning!!
  8. OMG I just can't believe it! Now it feels like things are beginning to fall into place. I felt lost for a bit because everything was just so overwhelming but now that I have a definate on the cruise I think things will go better from here. SO, April 13, 2010 Smith's Cove, Grand Cayman it is!!
  9. Thanks for your advice everyone!! I decided that the cruise was the most important...now I need to book my WC so that I know I will have an officiant to marry me lol. The WC was sooooo great and she "penciled" me in so that I would be able to book her after I booked the cruise so yipee!! lol I feel SO good right now - like everything is on the right track!
  10. Hello everyone! I need guidance....I'm pretty much planning my wedding on my own..my fiance lives in Tennessee and he's extremely busy so really, he has very little to no input on our wedding plans or just says he knows I have great taste and that I can just make the decisions, so here's my question - We want to take a cruise to Grand Cayman to get married. I've done research (lots and lots of it!!) and have narrowed it down. It fits our schedules perfectly, etc. Now, since we're planning an April, 2010 wedding. Would you book your WC who is taking care of every single detail except for the cruise first or would you book your cruise first? I wonder because it's so far out and I'm sure there will be something available in a month or so when I book it? Seems silly, I know but I have my money tied up in all the deposits for the arrangements that we made to get married in Florida (then changed our minds a couple of weeks ago). PLUS, I'm still waiting on my FI to decide (for sure) that he wants to have a wedding with just him and I without any family or friends. So, what would you do? Wedding Coordinator in Grand Cayman first and cruise second or vice versa? My head is just swimming right now! TIA!!
  11. Thanks kpuckrin, that's great to know!! ....was worried about that, so I'm definitely going with the Grand Cayman wedding for sure!! NOW I'm even more excited than I was before!! Any recommendations for the Caymans?
  12. What a great idea!! I think it's so super sweet!!! I'd definitely do it!
  13. Congratulations and welcome Tina!! I'm getting married in Grand Cayman April, 2010. Let me know how it all goes!!

  15. I would love to get in on the Topaz or the other white one that's going around...anyone know who are doing those at all? I would need it for 4/10/2010. Thanks!

If so that would be so great! Thanks!!

There's no way I'd want to even chance having it miss your trip and an amazing wedding so I'll find another starfish to take part in (the blue one perhaps - is it still available?) or just go out and get one of my own . Thank you for the offer but I'd much rather be safe than sorry! Thanks!!
  18. It was on our 3 month anniversary when I went to go visit him in Nashville (he lives there, I live in Florida) when he proposed! We've known each other for about 4 years but didn't really get to know each other until it suddenly hit us! I think the distance thing really kept us not thinking about a romance but everything happens for a reason. By the time we get married next April it will be 1 year 1 month or so....
  19. I am having the same dilemma! We're getting married in April 2010 on St. Thomas and since we're planning a morning wedding I need to to be able to get my hair and makeup done as early as possible so that we can make it to the courthouse and to the ceremony location on time... I have talked to my WC and she states that she'll pick us up but we need to be ready because the beach we're getting married on doesn't have facilities to change, etc. in and the beaches that do aren't comfortable. So, if anyone knows if the stylists on board the ship are 1) available early enough in the morning to get me out the door on time and 2) do a great job I could use the info! OR is there really enough time to go to the courthouse and get my hair done at an outside facility and still make it to my own wedding on time? Thanks everyone!
  20. Hi - I lived in Siesta Key for many years....I now live near Tampa, FL. Feel free to IM me with specific questions if you like.... I'd be happy to answer them. Yes, this time of year is rainy/hurricane season (rains just about each and every day at some point and for different lengths of time) - as a matter of fact it's pouring down rain as I type this so I can definitely recommend a better time of year for you. BTW - Miami is about 4 hours south of Siesta Key.
  21. Here's my info! (was planning Grand Cayman but FI wanted a longer cruise soooo St. Thomas it is!!) Dee From Florida - moved from Massachusets 16 years or so ago Getting married on Lindquist Beach, St. Thomas Wedding date is April 13, 2010 WC - Janelle at Island Bliss Weddings - just in the beginning processes with her but love her already We're taking a cruise there and it's just the two of us so we're just enjoying the time together....then a bit after we get back we'll have our reception with all our family and friends.
  22. ebredhawk - I leave April 10th and get back on April 17th which is a Saturday. I could get the package sent out to you either that day (if I haven't missed the mail already) or first thing Monday morning. That would give it 7 days to get to you. Would that work?
  23. Hi, if you have any of the starfish necklaces left I'd love to have one! Please PM me if you do. Thanks!
  24. If anyone has a starfish that they could pass on to me for April, 2010 I would SOOO love it!! It would definitely make it's journey to the Caribbean and back to you safe and sound or on to another bride if that's your wish! Please PM me if you have one!
  25. Hi Elyse! I'm in the same boat...I had thought I'd narrowed it down but I'm going through the same as you! My FI told me yesterday that he wants a longer cruise so now I have to go back again and re-visit all the countless hours of deciding on where to go to....I'm also planning an April, 2010 wedding in the Caribbean - I have narrowed it down to Grand Cayman and Virgin Islands I believe...simply for the residency restrictions on the other locations.... maybe this will help you some? I'd love to compare notes with you if you're interested.
