  2. Hmm....what about that wacky tack stuff? I know my dorms never allowed push pins or anything, so we used that to stick all of our pictures and stuff up on the wall. Also, big tupperware bins to use under your bed are a great idea, because closet space is soo so limited. Shoe racks are a good idea if she's a clothes horse as well. You might consider picking up some fun indoor safe lights (we ALL had these hanging in our dorm rooms, they're in no way necessary, but fun nonetheless) and a piggy bank of some sort....that sounds so tacky, but quarters are like gold in dorm life, and they end up all over your room if you're not careful. Other than that, if you can find a cheap area rug, it will be much appreciated, because most dormshave those nasty linoleum tile and not carpet! Hope this helps!
  3. Does ANYBODY have pricing info. yet? Ana told me yet again that she would have prices in to me by the end of last week and....SUPRISE!! No pricing info available to me yet. AArgh....I just want to know what I'm payig for my wedding package.
  4. Ahh...sorry....my computer decide it wanted to post even though I wasn't done typing yet. As for planning....heh. I like to tell myself I'm on the ball, but I know this is the farthest thing from the truth. I have my dress,AHR is booked, trip is paid off, and our date is booked. Other than that it is pure CHAOS.. Still don't have FI's suit, our wedding party is a mess, and I haven't really started thinking about what to put in OOT bags or sent out invitations or save the dates. FML. I'll get things together sooner or later.
  5. Haha...I usually live at the Hyatts while I'm in Chicago. Lucky enough to still have family who works for the company, so we take advantage of the free hotel stays. Im usually at the Regency on Wacker, sometimes down at theMCormick center. I'll be in town next sometime the week of the 16th. Might be the week after, because I'm celebrating my b-day all over the place this year. Don't know if I'll be in town all that week or if we'll be at my aunts in Moline. Either way, I'd definitely be up for the commute if you wanted to get together.
  6. I'm not from Chicago....Omaha actually, but I'm up your way every few weeks visiting with my cousin and spending FI's money. If you're up for it we could definitely get together for cocktails or something!

When I looked at the sizes, there was no way I was going to fit into the shirt. So I picked up a regular tee for myself. I finished them this afternoon, but my tee looks awful. I hate it! It's so big and not cute at all. It's a man's tee with girly writing on it. I've looked on line and all the cute stuff if sooooooo small. I see the size charts for these tees and they say XL fits sizes 12-14. I'm not where near that size. I would like to buy/make something cute, but I can't find anything that fits! Do you have any suggestions? I might just end up scrapping the whole idea in the end. It's not necessary, just something I would have liked. It's a good thing that whole lot only cost me $20. I have a couple of different ideas for you. I worked for Vanity for a while, and I know that our shirts went up to a 2XL, which fit my little sister at a size 24. Also, you could check out torrid as well. They have super cute clothes for plus sizes. On a different note, does anybody have any good diet tricks they could let me in on? I need to lose my last 20lbs of Hyatt weight so I can get back in to my cute clothes, and I'd like to do it before we get our engagement photos done in September. I've hit a plateau and nothing is coming off now . Any suggestions?

I know I should just call but I'm so annoyed right now I might just drop the Barcelo off my list, which is a shame, because it was my #1 choice. I'm sure it isn't intentional. I was told that Ana is gone for the next few weeks for vacation, so the other coordinators are also being stretched thin right now. Give it some time, and if all else fails, give them a call and let them know what's going on. The last thing that they want to do is lose business, so I'm sure they'd be more than accomodating.
  9. I will take the hurricane vases and the seashells in them!

  11. Oooh ladies....I need to drop some weight.....fast. Went in to try on my dress the other day and they're threatening to have to take it out. I've put on a BUNCH of weight at my old job, and my diet isn't working at all...I've gained weight on it. Any advice??
  12. Omg...I need to get in on this. Went in for a fitting of my dress, and they're going to have to let it out if I don't get back on track....I wanted to cry.
  13. Okay ladies! I took some of your great advice. You would be so proud of me, you guys helped me get the nerve to say something to my FMIL from hell. Went out to lunch with FMIL and FI today, and FINALLY stood up for myself. She was going on and on about her distaste for my choice of wedding colors, bridesmaid dresses, resort, wedding package, and even our choice to have an AHR. After she got done ragging on that she started in about how we aren't being married in the Catholic church right away (we're having our vows blessed on our 1 year anniversary). Finally I got fed up with it and said "I appreciate that you feel that way, but this is MY wedding. You already had your day....3 times if I'm not mistaken, and I will do things as I see fit. As far as you are concerned, I am the big cheese. If I need any help from you, believe me I'll ask, but I think I have things under control." After that I told her that while Andrew did agree to pay for her trip, it is not acceptable that she has to have a trip that is more expensive than ours, and that after we left lunch I would be going to the travel agent to get her switched into a more economical category of room. I don't think she knew what to do with herself. She kind of scoffed at me and looked incredibly puzzled for a minute. Then she just apologized and shut up....I've never felt so liberated. So, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ladies! I don't think I would have had the gall to say anything to her without all of your unbiased opinions.

  15. Congratulations! Welcome to the forum, and happy planning!
  16. Yeah, I did finally pass out. I think a great deal of my problem is that I don't have anything besides wedding planning right now. FI is supporting me at this point so that I can study for my entrance exam into grad school, so all that I've been doing is school and wedding, wedding and school....just in alternate orders. It got to be so much that I think I finally just imploded upon myself. I've never melted down like that before, and I ended up calling one of my girl friends who drove over at 3 in the morning and poured a few bottles of wine down my throat. Not the best coping mechanism, but at least we had a few good laughs and it got my mind off of things for a while. Idk, I think I need to find something else to keep me busy for a few hours each week, other than going up to the pool and my trips to the gym. Does anybody know of any good charities or anything that would be good to volunteer with? The only one I've ever really been a part of is the ACS, and they really don't need any help right now..
  17. Oh no, he knows she's got a few screws loose. He just doesn't want to be mean to her, she's the only parent he's got left, and he handles her with kid gloves.
  18. I'm working on quitting smoking as well! Something that I know has helped me a lot is investing in a good hookah. I slowly weened myself off of cigarettes and started smoking only hookah tobacco, which is way better for you (none of the preservatives or tar) and then slowly started mixing in shisha with it (which is just a flavored herb). Basically I'm just smoking air three times a week, and it's killed my cigarette cravings basically completely. The only down side to this is that if you have nosy neighbors, there is a strong chance that they may think you're sitting on your porch smoking pot.....which is slightly embarassing. the hookah looks a bit like a bong.
  19. Thanks for the advice ladies! It's so nice to know that there's a place that I can go and just vent without the risk of upsetting FI. I know he tries to keep his mom in check, but she's quite a handful and it can be difficult. Every time I approach the topic of "momma" I always get heated, so we've come to somewhat of an understanding....he keeps her in line or I don't come around. It's the only solution we can come up with where I don't have to go on the defensive, and I don't have to be passive agressive with her. Not much of a solution at all, but at least he knows what's going on. I just don't think I'll ever be her favorite person, and that's okay, but a bit more respect on her end would be nice. Oh well.
  20. Hey Moe, if any of the flippy flop deals fall through I'll take them....doesn't matter what color...
  21. Hey ladies! Does anyone have any information on us being able to send things to the resort before we arrive? I really don't want to have to bring all of my decorations and stuff with me on the flight. That, and I know that they decorate our ceremony site for us, but do we know if they include the chair covers, or if we have to bring them down ourselves as well? I hope that's not a stupid question.. I've emailed my WC, but she hasn't really answered any of this, and I'm starting to get ansy.
  22. If anybody has any beach mats left from their DW it would be GREATLY appreciated. I cleaned out Pier 1 out here, and they can't order any more of them, so I'm kind of stuck at this point. If anybody has any beach mats, or any idea where I can find a similar product it would be so so great! Thanks in advance! Brandy
  23. Hey ladies! Just thought I'd stop by for a quick second to see how everyone was doing. I was sitting here talking to FI earlier and trying to explain to him how the forum works and why I'm all the sudden getting all of these different ideas for our DW. But I got a great idea. There are a few of us that are going to be at Barcelo at the same time. If we can all come up with a time that's going to be convenient for us, we should definitely grab a cocktail or something together. Any thoughts?
  24. Looking for anybody else from NE, and hopefully up for some cocktails and laughs!
