  1. @sorord1- yes I'm a Negril bride too & I see that you're getting married just 3 months after me! Soooo excited! I would love to do a boudoir shoot, but I need to get the rest of this weight off & I've just twisted my knee and on crutches I have an MRI scheduled for January 3rd and may need surgery. So, depending on what I can lose from diet alone by the end of March, we'll see! Erica your kitty is cute! I would love to have a few kitties, but daughter is severely allergic & has asthma I told FI that we should get me a pomeranian to carry in a little purple doggie bag, and he can get a pug & carry it in a little blue doggie bag & we can walk down the street hand in hand...yeah I'm sure he liked that vision- he just looked at me. @ the future Liza Leu, I love your name! So cute! Yes, I look at those very same shows, although I haven't looked at my Bridalplasty recordings yet. Getting a lil tired of all the re-runs though. I also like Four Weddings & My Fair Wedding. I look at Platinum Weddings sometimes, but the predictability & fakeness gets on my nerves alot.
  2. Hey ladies! So excited about this thread! My name is Tyra and FI's name is William. FI's first name is my last name without the "s"- I always joke that he should take my last name so he can be "William Williams" lol, I would laugh everyday at that!...I have 2 brothers, my sister passed away about 15 years ago. We're getting married April 30, 2011 in Negril, Jamaica with about 48 guest so far. I live in a south suburb of Chicago, IL & actually work in downtown Chicago as a nurse disability specialist. And Schmizer, I too am totally addicted to all shows "reality", lol. Drives FI crazy! Our DVR constantly has like 1% available space because of all my reality & bridal shows!
  3. I am sooo jealous! I wanted so badly to go to Fiji for our honeymoon, but it's super expensive. Maybe we'll get to go for our 5th anniversary- I can dream right?
  4. Your day is coming up soon! Welcome to the fourm!
  5. Congrats & welcome from a fellow Jamaica bride!
  6. Really, really good job- it turned out amazing! Love it!
  7. Everything looks really amazing! I can't wait to get started on mine!
  8. Thanks guys for your words. Maybe I'm just a lil sensitive, lol.
  9. Oh I so wish I had family in Jamaica! I'd go like 5 times a year, lol!
  10. Ok ladies, this makes 15 cups which is almost a gallon. You can tweek the recipe to make it as strong or weak as you like. You're supposed to use the jamaican rum called Myers & if you want a "kick" to it, the Wray & Nephew overproof rum. However Malibu has an assortment of flavored rums that I liked better so I used those. The rhyme to remember the recipe is:1 Part Sour, 2 Parts Sweet, 3 Parts Strong, 4 Parts Weak. For "sour" I used a mix of Whiskey Sour mix & lime juice- not the Rose's lime, that's too sweet. Use the lime juice that comes in the little lime shaped squeezie thing or the lime juice that comes in a bottle. For the "sweet" use grenadine, which I think is like a strawberry sugar syrup. For the "strong" you can use any rum you like, but I used a mix of the Malibu coconut, passion fruit, mango, & banana rums, and for a little kick I added Bacardi 151. For the "weak", use water. Now because my friends a family don't like a weak drink, I actually did 4 Parts "Strong" for the second recipe listed below. Jamaican Rum Punch (Regular, makes 15 cups): 3/4 C Whiskey Sour Mix 3/4 C Lime Juice 3 C Grenadine 4-1/2 C Rum (If you're mixing rums, just make sure it adds up to 4-1/2 cups) 6 C Cold Water Jamaican Rum Punch (Strong Punch, makes 16-1/2 cups): 3/4 C Whiskey Sour Mix 3/4 C Lime Juice 3 C Grenadine 4 C Rum (If you're mixing rums, just make sure it adds up to 4 cups) 2 C Overproof Rum (If you can't find Wray & Nephew, use Bacardi 151) 6 C Cold Water Just pour everything in a pitcher, and mix. Then pour into gallon sized water jugs if you like, it makes it easier to serve.
  11. I'm just curious and would like to hear from others. Do you find this forum to be kinda clique-ish? I love so much on here & get great ideas, but I find myself sometimes not wanting to contribute a thought because it seems so clique-ish sometimes. Kinda like people have their own little friends that they talk to and your voice just kinda gets lost here...
  12. Oh I completely forgot to post the recipe for the rum punch, but I will definitely do it later on. I can still remember the rhyme for it, but have to pull the recipe out later. The rhyme is: 1 Part Sour (lime juice, whiskey sour mix) 2 Parts Sweet (Grenadine- the red syrupy stuff) 3 Parts Strong (Rum) 4 Parts Weak (water) Yes, actually I found out the hard way that Rum Punch has absolutely no "punch" in it, lol.
  13. Oh my gosh I loved LTU pub! That is definitely a must go. And the view is phenomenal!
  14. Our RSVP was back in August. And guests had to RSVP with a deposit
  15. I know... I've been there many times...wish I was there now! What part of Jamaica are you in?
