  1. Christina- Your bouquets/flowers are beautiful! My flowers will be orchids too but with a touch of roses. $650 is not bad for everything you got, you can't beat that, esp. when comparing to what you were going to pay for fresh flowers. I'm looking at the site you mentioned now, thanks for the help. Michele- Not sure if this is a jersey pharma thing, but i'm off work all next week too have fun on vacation. Tracy and Tonir- Thanks for sharing your lists. One thing I can cross off, which wasn't on my list yesterday was book an AHR venue. FI and I finally put a deposit down on a banquet hall we like yay!!
  2. Michele- Congrats on having more people attend!! I love finding out more and more people are coming, it just makes it more special that you can share with them your marriage ceremony. Tracy- Keep us posted, i'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Tonir- What other things do you need to do? My list is still pretty long too, and with the holidays in a few short days, I'm not getting much done either. In Jan. I plan to: Get FI a suit along with his GMs Finish up my bouquets- btw went to AC Moore lastnight, not a single real touch rose I'll have to call Hobby Lobby before I make a hike out there. Buy OOT bags and items to stuff it with Get fitted for my dress Pay for my flight- this I should've done a looooooooooooooong time ago I hope I'm not missing anything.
  3. Oo, very nice. Thanks for the share. It looks like I'll be making a trip out there..or can I just order online?

I have no idea about anything to do with real touch flowers. I thougt they were kind of pricy so I went with fake flowers from the dollar store lol yeah it's just insane how much the traditional weddings cost now and days. It's just sooo much cheaper doing DW and it's so beautiful.Kind of hard to say no lol I know nothing fancy and they look fake. I figured/hoping no one will notice with the sunlight and all lol You know what, being that your flowers are from the dollar store, they look pretty good to me! And I am definite you won't be able to tell in your pictures that they're fake. Nice job! Quote: Originally Posted by jerseykitten Jersey weddings are out of control. Seriously, I can't wrap my head around spending $50K on a wedding. I have friends who have taken out loans to to pay for theirs... not ideal to me. I'd rather lose it all now and gain it in the future instead of being tied down to paying off my wedding loan on top of my mortgage. To each his/her own right?

So my mom and I went out and bought a light fitted dress.. I got it off the rack so I payed only $95 for it. It'll be for dancing and TTD. OMG this is me too! My hometown wedding was going to cost me $50K, so FI and I said DW was the way to go! Quote: Originally Posted by caribbeanLover LOL I just realize the FI had his jean zipper down. Sorry to bring this up again. Does anyone know if hobby lobby or AC Moore has real touch roses?? The nearest hobby lobby is about an hour and ahalf away from me And AC Moore is on a congested highway. So before I make it out to either of those two I want to make sure theycarry it.

I want to start collecting things now while they are on clearance! I'm a discount shopper with these types of things! I found out who my WC is and I will probably try to email after the New Year so that I have a better idea of things. There are many things I can wait on arranging, but others I NEED to know now Adriana Seriously, my date is getting closer and closer and all these small things I'm not counting now will totally put me over budget. I know it! If you ever come across a price list of things let me know Quote: Originally Posted by slapsappyhappy did anyone get a pricelist from the decor company? I saw it in one of the reviews of a wedding that was at Dreams cancun. It had a light up dance floor on the beach and lights underneath each table, it looked awesome! The dj company I was looking into for my AHR has this option. This might give you a price point but with the dj company a 4x4 square is $200 each. And they're based out of NJ.... so it will most likely cost a lil different than that but just a heads up.
  8. I'm with you, I can't imagine paying in the thousands for my dress. Yeah, it's for my wedding and it'll only happen once, but ... that money could be spent elsewhere. I have a friend with a hefty budget for her weddign through her fiance's family and she's spending $10k on her dress. My jaw dropped when I heard that. I think now she regrets it though because she could've used a lot of that money toward something else. Oh, and she was totally one of those girls who went to Kleinfelds (however u spell it). I don't think she aired though.

I watch "say yes to the dress" but I don't know, I love my dress (even though I didn't have the "This is the one" moment). Each dress fits a different personality and body type. I just think I'm lucky I found the right one. Second guessing will only make you hate your dress more, I'm sure you look stunning in it anyway! 12. I have a question about additional costs that are not listed on the MP website ie. translation of documents, mariachi during cocktail hour (i'm assuming it costs the same as for ceremony), ipod station (was it $400?), dress pressing, cost of linens, hurricane candles, etc. I want to keep things in budget and would really like to know in advance how much everything else costs besides the rooms and wedding packages, if there's anything I didn't mention please let me know! Thanks!

No I haven't seen the terrace.. only through pictures that the WC has sent me. I hope I will love it in person lol.
  15. Rob- I was assigned the Bugambilias gazebo/terrace too. I wanted the Tucan gazebo/terrace but that's already booked, it's OK though. If you still need pics PM me. FutureMrsMoulten- Sorry to hear about the BM dropping out! Don't worry, it's them that'll be missing out.

I actually was walking on St-Hubert street and walk into a chiness (those cool stores) and found the fans on sale for $.99 Just keep looking Jodi, you'll find them somewhere. Where exactly are you? I have a friend in Ireland (his actually coming to the wedding) if your close enough I am sure he can look into it for me to find you certine things (his pretty good and helpful like that, his my bro from a different mother/father lol) Erin, I am so sorry to hear about the reception plans, this is for Cuba right? Would you have a plan B? Here you go, the thread was in the diy forum. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...emplate-50482/ if this link doesnt take you to it, search for mint to be, it's by bride2010. Erin- Glad the catamaran worked out!!
  17. LOVE the dresses! glad you were able to the handle the yellow sash situation

When I inquired with MP , they advised that it would be arranged with my TA. But the TA says it's MP's promotion, therefore they should be listing it in their contract. It went back and forth for weeks. The supplier even got involved but still nothing was given in writing guaranteeing these offers. I kept getting vague emails indicating that this was a standard promotion but was never given anything specifically relating to my group. Eventually I spoke to Palace Resorts head office and although I still didnt' get anything in writing, they did confirm that whether the travel is booked with your TA or directly with MP, as long as you have a group contract you will be entitled to the wedding promotions. Hope this helps.... Yea this helps, thanks! My TA lists the MP promotions in the contract, I'll just have to talk to my TA about this. On my contract I see "Private Group functions are available without surcharge in meeting rooms and outdoor venues, except for beach when using inclusive Hotel menus with a minimum of 25 rooms paid nightly for 3 nights." I only have 10 paid rooms so far so that's why I was wondering if you count the number of days per individual or per room. Looks like per room for me
  19. Sorry to hear about the reception fiasco Erin! I am also in the planning stages of my reception and I agree about the roller coaster associated with it. I hope everything works out!!
  20. Have you thought about candy? I saw a bride here use mints as a favor and she made a wrapper for them that said, "Mint to be"... I thought it was cute and am considering doing this. That way you won't have to lug down heavy stuff and in my case, wonder if anyone's ever going to use whatever it is I give them.

I have a group of 23 so far and we racked up 84 nights (I counted everyone's #days individually or should it have been done in #rooms?). I wonder if my TA will honor this... or do I just tell MP directly bc the TA has nothing to do with this? confused.
  22. Christina- I think your letter gets to the point and isn't harsh. I agree with adding the TA's name like the girls mentioned. I wish I had done this instead I will be sending my formal invites the first week of Jan... so imagine getting two pieces of mail from a bride within 2-3 weeks.. bridezilla! lol btw, thanks for writing on my wedding website guestbook..that was really nice of you! Jodi- I'm really sorry to hear everything that has happened. I hope the next couple of months will be better for you.
