  1. Hey ladies.. I have a couple posts to catch up to but in the meanwhile, i need your opinions. I'm working on my formal invites and have come up with 4 designs. I shouldn't say designs but, I mean "formats". This page consists of 4 gatefold inserts in which I'll cut.... which one do you like most? My colors are green and brown. My gatefold card will most likely be green and the inserts will be white cardstock. I'm attaching an image for those who can't open documents (but i have to warn you the img is a bit blurry). For those that can open the word file, I used "scriptina" from dafont.com and "lucinda" if the fonts are a lil funky. Document1.doc
  2. Leslie- I was worried about my family flipping out knowing that they'd have to pay for their flight and hotel to see me get married, but you know what, if they really care, they will come. Like you, I also have family from all over the US so i figured one central location will work since they will be travelling anyway. I would send out an email ASAP to let your guests know about your intentions of a destination wedding as well so they can figure out their plans from there on top of saving money to go. Di- Welcome back! Glad the house situation went well! It really takes up your time doesn't it? I'm 5 months into my place and I still have a lot of unpacking and decorating... we're doing room by room. What other wedding stuff do you have to do?

Is that the wrong this to do? My resort is all-inclusive, so unless I am wrong I don't need to pay for the "welcome dinner". I don't think it's wrong that you pay for the apps and non-alcoholic drinks as long as you make this known to your guests and that it is not a mandatory event.

I am having a welcome dinner with all my guests the night before the wedding. This will be an optional event and will be treated as a meet and greet for the attendees, although most will already know each other. On our RSVP postcards we'll have people check off if they'll be participating, that way I'll know in advanced how many people to book a reservation for at a restaurant we choose down there. Good luck with whatever you decide to tell her!! My mom is a fancy shmancy person. I've told her countless times she'll stick out from the crowd but she doesnt care. I'll have go give it another go and if I have no luck then I'm just gonna give up lol. I hope you feel better and are taking care of yourself Suzy!
  5. I am also slightly biased bc my girls dresses is a lot like dress #1. Both are nice and you already said you love #1 so i'd just go with that.

  7. Thanks everyone for your response!! I have tried countless times, along with my father to convince her that dress #1 is PERFECT for the ceremony with no luck. I may have to show her all of your responses lol. Quote: Originally Posted by Patti Dress No. 2 looks like it just doesn't belong at the beach. Are you actually getting married on the beach? I should have claimed it long ago but my mom is a stubborn one, what she wants is what she gets. 8. Also, I just posted this. I need opinions, please! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...b-dress-51063/
  9. A few weeks ago, my mother bought two dresses. Dress #1 was meant to be for the beach wedding and dress #2 was meant for the formal AHR. Now, she wants to wear dress #2 for the beach wedding and buy another dress for the AHR because dress #1 is now "too informal". Dress #1 Dress #2 I honestly think dress #2 for the beach is wayyyyyyy too formal, thick, and dark but my mom claims she won't be "mother of the bride-like" wearing dress #1. I'm horribly afraid she will stick out like a sore thumb among everyone else (esp. FMIL, this is her dress F23051. Should I let her wear dress #2 or convince her to wear dress #1 for the beach like it was intended? What are your thoughts.

I will most likey have to practice packing them, I'm just afraid that they'll either break (vases) or fall apart (flowers) and it'll be a waste of luggage space. He was the WORST folder and packer ever when we met and now he's gotten better bc I tell him to man up and do his own packing, haha. Add in a couple sundresses, a couple cover-ups, a couple sweaters and a whole heck of a lot of bathing suits!! And don't forget that I usually expect to buy the odd item down there too Packing for the wedding will be my challenge too because of the additional wedding wear, pretty rehearsal dinner wear etc. I'm such a casual person otherwise!! But the best part is that i've got this one dress that I bought like a year ago because I loved it even though I had nothing specific to wear it for. So I'm totally going to wear it for my rehearsal dinner. I used to have lists but nowadays it's become routine as to what to pack when I got on vacation. But like you said with the wedding ensemble being part of the mix now I might have to go back to my list making route, that way nothing should be missed, hopefully!

I haven't ordered my bridesmaid dresses either. When I went to David's Bridal they told me that the dresses could take as long as 3 months to come in depending on the dress but other than that they should be 2-6 weeks. I think in Dec. my girls will order their dresses. As for your dress I would call. I ordered mine back in March/April and got it the second week of September. I would definitly make sure that they haven't forgotten your order and are on top of things. Quote: Originally Posted by KPETT10 Hi girls! I am getting married on April 10, 2010 as well! Hi and welcome! I am with you on the OOT bags and centerpieces. I still have no idea what my total count will be for OOT bags and I'm still debating on the centerpiece bit. Like some girls mentioned, it would be a pain to bring down extra luggage just for decor.
  12. I put my ring down on the table to dry my hands after washing them. A guy friend of mine put it on and I flipped out... mainly because it's MY ring and I didn't want anyone wearing it. This all happened after my FI told me it's bad luck that another person try on your ring lol. Needless to say, I dont have bad luck and hopefully won't have any in the future.

I don’t think January is too late if you’ve already given your potential guests a heads up on your wedding plans. Another thing… I always heard that when you find “the dress”, you will KNOW it. Well, I didn’t get that feeling. It was more of a process of elimination for me. When I thought I had it narrowed down to “the dress”, I went to the bridal shop to try on a few other dresses to make sure. I tried on the other dresses first, then “the dress” last. The dress I chose was the one that I thought would look best on me and best in pictures, but I did not have that overwhelming feeling like it was the dress I had to have. I’ve talked to a few other brides who felt the same way. Has anyone else on this thread felt that way? Same goes for me for both. I plan to send my formal invites early January along with my invitations to my AHR. As for the dress, same thing! I was sick and tired of trying on dresses so I said, "what the hell that one looks great on me". I don't regret it at all and I love it to death. I just laughed and said "you have nooooo idea what I'm planning" and we just left it at that. Seriously, until I start packing everything to take with us, he'll be totally clueless! Nevermind that I could totally start sneaking things to my friends places if I needed to! Oh I love this! That's funny you mentioned this. Just lastnight I was looking at ring bearer pillows and my FI goes, "geez you have to look into that too? There's so much you need to do for this wedding." I go yeah, "thanks for all the help!" as he's watching the yankees vs. angels game. I'll take them Shannon!
  14. I just read that one of you picked up real-touch at Michaels in Canada, does anyone know if Michaels has real-touch in the states?
  15. Does anyone feel like they're in a system overload? Lately, I've been trying to gather ideas for my bouquets, then I stumble upon ideas for my centerpieces, then I move onto the judge's table decorations, then shoes, then invitations, then music, then the first dance - to choreograph or not to choreograph, then cake ideas, then flight arrangements, then TTD dress and location, then groom's attire (SO late with this one)... AHHH!!!!! My goodness! Sorry, I'm just venting. I feel like I am getting nowhere with this...Planning has taken a toll on me lol.

Just a heads up- my friend got married there so I have a little insider info and I am doing the free package and picking as i go! That is one of the reasons why I chose to switch from the emerald to the complimentary package. I don't want to have to pay extra if I want to change any part of the package... so I will also add as I go! Besides, by doing so I've calculated to save about $1000 in which I intend to spend elsewhere!
  17. Shan- Glad your shoot went well! I know nothing about the "I Do" rhinestones, sorry can't help you there. Christina- I think will have two songs for the processional too, so it's not unheard of. Erin- I'm also having my MOH, BM and Mom sign my wedding shoes too! I saw it somewhere and thought it was an awesome and memorable idea. Kimmy & Tracy- I'm also getting married on a Friday and my reason behind that was the 17th was booked LOL. Welcome, noobs! Adding to the list: April 9 - (kimmyg) Kimmy from Cincinnati - RPRM April 9 - (Chicken764) Martine from Casselman - Grand Palladium-Punta Cana April 10 - (jerseykitten) Michele from Jersey (Central Jersey by Six Flags) - Jamaica April 10 - (Shan13) Shannon from little rock, arkansas (originally from St.Louis) - Las Vegas April 13 - (caribbeanlover) Tracy from Montreal - Punta Cana April 16 - (echo2_62) Meghan from Calgary - Puerto Aventuras, Mexico April 16 - (doblauvelt) Tonya from Northern NJ - Moon Palace, Mexico April 22 - (Jcooper79) Jaime from MN - Gran Porto Real, Riveria Maya April 24 - (jerzygirl85) Joanna from Jersey City - Dreams Tulum, Mexico April 24 - (GregsBride) Christina from Washington, DC - Jamaica April 28 - (ebredhaw) Erin from Cincinnati - Dreams Punta Cana Whoa, 4 sets of date twins!!
  18. Welcome Jen! Your engagement party is tonight? How exciting! I wish you lots of fun and luck recruiting more to come. Don't worry, you already have 30 booked while some of us have half or even less! You're already on a roll! Erin- Swing Life Away is one of my faves and I never considered it until you mentioned it. It'll be beautiful for your processional! Tracy- The email was straight to the point. I had to do the same thing to get people booked and it worked! So hopefully in your case people will start booking as well. Sometimes people just need a push and shove, don't worry. And as for one of your GM booking two vacations, I had to go through the same thing. Luckily, he is a true friend and booked his room. I hope your GM will do the same for you. Keep us updated! Kimmy- Holy crap, 5 months to gO? That's crazy and I'm jealous haha!
  19. Shan- I would definitely go with a fake ring. I work in a lab and there are days I refuse to wear my e-ring into work and instead I will wear my promise ring to replace the "naked" feeling. Christina- Not to discourage you in any way of getting a yorkie but they are VERY hyper. But through experience, my pup has calmed down through the one year we've had him. I have to say that he barks a lot though and I hear that's another Yorkie vice. Other than that he's a big mushball of love. Meghan- I have thought about purchasing the music sheet and sending it down but my FMIL went through the same thing and come wedding day, the band had to explain to her that they coudln't play her song and she had to go with a different song. After hearing that FI and I are totally content with using a sound system lol.
  20. omg, that's awesome that you're having someone you know play your processional. i'm just going with a cd system lol. at first FI and I wanted a violinist to play the Apocalyptica- Nothing Else Matters song but we got scared that they may not know how or if they do they'll butcher it. i'm glad you're also able to start doing resort-specific things. i still have to wait 3 more months to do that kind of stuff! cute pic of your dogs btw!
