We did not receive a price list that we could take away. There were two main packages that he offered us. The first one had printed photos of various sizes (odd ones like 6x8 instead of 5x7 or some other size that was close to 8x10), album, CD and DVD set to music etc. And the second one had less #of printed photos and I think you had to choose between the CD and DVD and you didn't get an album. He based the price for each package on the number of photos he presented to you. He told us that each image was $15 each. We were not bound to the packages and could choose whatever we would like. Just ask. We had not originally intended to have a professional photographer. We instead supplied each of our guests with SD cards and offered a "Paparazzi for a Day" Photo Contest. When they returned home they forwarded to us their wedding day photos on a disc we provided for judging. Prizes will be awarded to the winners at a party hosted in our honour at the end of this month. There was some very good photos taken by our non-pr guests!! We were very pleased! However, our wedding package included 10 free photos and Jose was assigned to take pictures of our ceremony. We were very pleased with the shots he took and ended up purchasing them on a CD so that when we got home we could do whatever we want with them. The CD was packaged in a nice case with our photo on front with our names and wedding date. The CD itself had a photo of us on it as well. We have played the CD over and over, copied it to our hard drives and want to produce a movie with the music from our ceremony. It will be a fun project for us to work on together. This was our experience with the "10 free photos" in your wedding package. Once seeing the photos he took, we wanted them all. We spent more than we had ever intended but we were more than pleased to have professional photos in the mix of the non-pro ones. How could we not? I cannot speak to how it all works when you hire Jose for the day to photograph every aspect of your wedding. I'm sure he would be pleased to explain how that all works if you email him directly. Hope this helps! Sunnyee

PHOTOGRAPHER AT BAHIA PRINCIPE Ladies, I just talked to Jose who was my photographer at Bahia Principe Akumal...He was amazing...Im still trying to figure out how to post my pictures on here but anyways, he is available and he said the best way to reach him is [email protected] I absolutely loved him. We flew down our photographer from Canada and I was very disappointed in their work....Jose took some random shots for free as part of our wedding package and I absolutely LOVED his work...very funky, sexy, vintage, cool....if that's what you're looking for....I'm not a posey pose kind of bride so he captured everything perfectly....fave pic is me laughing and clapping and my new husband bawling....awwwwww....I wish I could post the pics so you could see!!! Email me at [email protected] if you want me to show you pics. I have to totally agree about Jose! We loved his work as well and ended up buying all the photos that he took of our ceremony instead of just getting the free ones that came with our package. Anyone concerned about the hotel photographer should be rest assured that he is wonderful, fun and professional. I was also married on February 25 at the Bahia Principe (Akumal Beach hammock location). Raykel and I were in touch just days before we each left for the resort and exchanged photos of eachother. My now husband has a keen eye and one night when we were passing through the Tulum lobby he overheard a woman at the desk say the word "dress". He thought the woman looked like Raykel and poked me and asked if that was her. I told him it couldn't possibly be, but decided I had nothing to lose and called out her name. Well, didn't she turn around! I called out my name and we ran for a hug! Chatted with her for about a half hour in the lobby and then wished eachother well for our wedding day. We saw Raykel one other time two days after our weddings. We were walking past the Tulum pool and I tried to direct my husband to go around the pool to the right and he suggested we go to the left. Good thing we went left because there was Raykel again! We chatted about our weddings and met her husband. They were leaving the next day and we were staying another week for our honeymoon. Both weddings were wonderful - I'm sure Raykel will post soon. Getting back to the grind is tough! I wasn't nearly as involved with this thread as many of you have been over the last few months, however, I am deeply grateful for all of the information/thoughts you have all shared. It was a major part of the success of our wedding. Thank you so much for your creativity and willingness to share! I will be working on a review of our wedding and will post soon. Cheers, Sunnyee
  4. I was married at the Bahia Principe on February 25, 2010 at the Akumal Beach hammock location. If you have any questions, please let me know. This forum is a wealth of information and was invaluable in our planning process! Happy planning!
  5. I was married at the Bahia Principe on February 25, 2010 at the Akumal Beach location. Everything was wonderful!! As posted earlier, the photographer is exclusive to this resort. You can bring someone with you but you cannot hire an outside photog. The resort uses photographers from Arrecife Studio and our photographer was Jose Insunza. Our package included 10 free photos and he took 88 of our ceremony. They were so good that we purchased all of them! You can check out his work at Facebook: Arrecife Studio...we signed a release to have some of our photos post on his site. To my knowledge they are not up yet but if you check back our wedding was a unique Asian theme as my husband is Chinese. Jose was eager to capture it all on film. If you have any questions, I would be happy to answer them for you. Happy planning, Sunnyee

  7. All three resorts on this property are wonderful and you can't go wrong with any of them. I was married at the Akumal Beach Hammock location on February 25th. If you have any questions, please let me know. This forum is a wealth of information and was a definite asset in planning our wedding. Cheers, Sunnyee
  8. Destination weddings are not for everyone but should you decide to take the plunge, the Bahia Principe is a great choice. I got married there on February 25th and it was our 7th visit to the property. If you have any questions, I would be happy to help. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and an amazing tool that helped me with all of my arrangements. Happy planning, Sunnyee
  9. Welcome! I was married at the Bahia Principe Akumal Beach location on February 25. If you have any questions, I would be happy to help. This forum is a wealth of resources and knowledge to guide you through your destination wedding. Happy planning, Sunnyee
  10. I am partial to the Bahia since I was married there on February 25th at the Akumal Beach Hammock location. My wedding coordinator Karla was excellent and went above and beyond to make our day special. We love the Bahia and our wedding there was our 7th visit in under 5 years. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will be happy to help. This forum is a wonderful tool to get you on your way planning your destination wedding. All the best, Sunnyee
  11. Welcome! I was married at the Bahia Principe Coba February 25th and everything was wonderful!! If you have any questions, please let me know. Happy planning!
  12. I was married at the Akumal Beach location at the Bahia Principe on February 25th...everything was fantastic...try not to worry, you will be well taken care of. Let me know if I can help you with anything. The pictures they provide for bouquets are just a sampling of what they have done in the past and some of them are quite dated. I searched the internet and found an inspiration picture, printed it in colour and presented it to my wedding coordinator Karla. My bouquet was nearly exactly as the photo and I was thrilled. One other thing I want to assure you of is the hotel photographer. We had Jose Insunza from Arrecife Studio who has become the wedding photographer for the Bahia in the last 5-6 months. He is really good. You can see his work on Facebook: Arrecife Studio. We signed a release for him to post some of our photos but to my knowledge they are not up yet. We had a unique Asian themed wedding as my husband is Chinese and he was eager to capture it on film. Happy planning...this forum is an amazing tool to guide you on your way. Cheers, Sunnyee
  13. Hey ladies...can you believe it's almost February? Please add me to the list... Christine Gran Bahia Principe - Coba February 20 Wedding February 25 (Akumal) Rayanne and I are getting married on the same day! Rayanne keep us posted on your dress!
  14. So excited for you! Everything looks great, thanks for sharing. All the best to you!!
  15. They look great! You did an awesome job. I am going to Michaels after work today. Maybe check out the orchids...thanks for sharing!
  16. Hmmm, I think I would be inclined to change my colours to black, white and gold.
  17. I bought red table runners, opaque chinese take out boxes (I made lanterns out of these using the flameless battery operated tealights) chinese fans, wine bottle covers and even a little budha statue at Dollarama! My FI is Chinese and we are going with that theme and the gold and red colour scheme for the dinner table decorations.
  18. We have a Sable Sheltie and since she is so much a part of our family we wanted to include her with our Mexican wedding some how. Webkins has a Collie which is very similar to our Maggie but we weren't able to find it because it is "retired". My FI found a brand new one on Ebay and surprised me with it last week. Maggie the Webkins Collie will be carried down the aisle by the flower girl so she can be at our wedding in spirit!

Thanks a ton! Scarlett We are getting married on February 25, 2010 at Coba - Akumal Beach Hammock location. It is where my finance proposed last February. Only 73 more sleeps to go! We chose Coba because we had stayed there 5 times before and love the junior suites. We have families with children coming to the wedding and felt that the suites would give them more space in the room. We have never been bothered by the fact that Coba is not on the beach and walking for us just helps keep us active with all the food and drink we consume. The grounds at Coba are gorgeous - all three properties are beautiful. I just stayed at Tulum a few weeks ago and it was great too. We had an oceanview room and that was a lovely treat to see the sun rise every morning. IMHO, you can't go wrong with any of the three properties on this resort...it's a great choice regardless of which hotel you choose. Happy planning!

My question is what kind of adaptor It's okay, you won't need an adaptor in Akumal, Tulum or Coba. The plugs are the same as here and your irons will work fine. However, in Tulum I found that even though the plugs are the same as here, I was not able to plug in my Blackberry charging cord because the head of the power plug was too large for the space where you plug things in to the wall. When I mentioned this at the front desk, they told me I could purchase an adaptor at the gift shop for $3 US...we got one and that did the trick. This was not an issue at Coba either...not sure about Akumal as I have not stayed there...yet! LOL! Best to you on your wedding day!
  23. Welcome! Tulum and Akumal are located along the beach and Coba is set back from Akumal away from the beach. I have been to Coba 5 times and just came back from Tulum a couple of weeks ago. I am getting married February 25th at the Akumal hammock location but I am staying at Coba. It is the newest of the three resorts and has all junior suites. Tulum and Akumal have standard rooms (no sitting area). There's lots of info on this site but if you have some specific questions, I can try to help. We love this resort...it will be a lovely place for you to get married. Congrats! Quote: Originally Posted by swong Hello brides/brides to be! I found out each resort do their own wedding ceremony, I'll be very appreciated if anyone can share with me their experience on the particular resort. Thanks a ton!! Scarlett ( getting a little stressed.....)
