Ugh. I'm frustrated for you on this one. I can't believe she could be so careless. It reflects so poorly on her to do that, especially for the type of party she has been trying to pull off. If she worked half as hard on your invites as she has on redoing your reception wishes you wouldn't be in this mess. Good luck.

Sorry but I think you're overreacting a little bit for the above stated reasons. As for the cake it sounds like she's being a bit picky but she is the one paying for it...... She might have something else in mind but she should give you more of a reason than "absolutely not getting it from that bakery". This is great! I was planning to just bring a photo of my grandmother and grandfather on their wedding day to have taken with my flowers and rings but I like the idea of the small frame to have as well. I'll have to check the shipping dates since I'm getting pretty close to the big day and would hate to have it show up after I get home...

Well, we found a compromise... she's going to put them in the shower invitations and not the invitations for our reception in January. I feel a little better about that-at least it's not in the other things she'll send out. Now-besides the fact that we all think the idea of putting them in is a bit tacky....since they're going in anyway does the design look ok?

I don't think there's anything that's inappropriate to wear if you love it. My dress is very similar (It's a Maggie "Veronica") and I'm going to be burning up the whole time but I don't care, the dress makes me feel like a princess.

I forgot to update this until I posted in the planning thread today. I hope this is helpful! I found lots of great ideas for assembling a bamboo tripod/arch/ect but the transportation was the biggest issue. Most of these projects were more permanent assemblies or required whole bamboo poles. Brandon and I ended up using 6 bamboo poles, 6 foot each. We cut them down into approximately 2 foot sections, marking each cut with a unique tape pattern so we could easily tell which sections fit together. We'll remove the tape and tag the insides with something not visible. To put them back together so they were steady we bought pvc pipe that fit into the bamboo, cut it into 6 inch sections and used duct tape to make the ends big enough for a snug fit when put together. The total weight of the project is less than 10 pounds, including the organza we're using to decorate them. All the pieces will fit inside of a carry on (although we're going to put it in our checked bags). Here are a couple pictures. I was surprised at how sturdy they ended up being. I thought it would be hard to keep them straight and not wobbling but with the duct tape on the ends of the pvc it allows each connection to fit tightly enough to keep it from falling apart. To tie them at the top we're going to use some hemp cord. I think I'll tie them a little lower than these pictures show but you can get the idea.

I don't think you're completely overreacting. I think it's just BS that she would do that-especially knowing you were booking that date.

Ok - here are some pictures of my progress this weekend since our T-Shirts came in. This is also helping me organize for my upcoming planning thread :-) T-Shirts, OOT Bag and guest goodies: All the T-Shirts have our logo on the front and the back is customized with "mob,fob,mog,fog" and of course bride and groom for Brandon and I. Ceremony Decor: I'm going for a very simple, no frills wedding and I have very few guests so I was going to use the resorts set up until I saw it-it's hideous. So this is my solution. I still need to find a way to edge the organza and tie the bows but you get the idea. Blue and green are my accent colors so I'm going to make the bows smaller. My DIY bamboo pillars: (With help from Brandon) The tape is still on, we're going to use a small gold marker to line them up to finalize them. The bamboo poles are 6 foot in length. We cut them to 3 sections each and to hold them together used pvc pipe with duct tape (yes, I found a way to incorporate duct tape into my wedding-my Dad will be so proud!) to hold them together. When they are fit together they don't wiggle at all. This is how we will tie them at the top to keep them in a tripod. The hemp cord is nearly invisible under the organza and easy to transport and wrap. So it was a productive weekend :-)
