Great idea! My date is April 9, 2011. Getting the date down was the hardest part, so good luck! Don't get too frustrated - I know I did! Our date was not available at first, and it opened up. But I still had to ask, she didn't just offer it. Â We just sent our save the dates, sent out 80, probably end up inviting a total of just under 200. We feel about 50 will come, which is perfect! Â We are getting married on the gazebo (if space allows) at 4pm and cocktail and reception at Las Palmas. Â We are working on finding a photag. It is hard because of the vendor fee you need to pay. Our plan is to hopefully fly ours in as a guest to avoid that, but still pricing things. Â Our colors are navy, fushia, and silver. Â Just so everyone knows, you can pick 2 entrees for guests to choose from, but they need to know 15 days prior.

So we took the pics in June, with a photog I found here, all good reviews. The contract gives 60 days to get the pics to us. I hadn't heard anything in a while so I emailed to get an update. The response was "yes, working on them soon." Emailed again, not rude, just making sure we would get them on time. Again "yes. soon." (emailed a couple weeks ago and then again last week) So now im really worried! I mean there are 3 days left, but I would think it takes a few days to mail from mexico! So this may be a premature vent, but Im soooo worried!! Anyone have any bad experiences??

hey Aprilmay! I feel you - it's really hard to get through this whole thread and then actually REMEMBER what you read! I use the search function a lot. Plus, sometimes prices and such have changed since your question was asked, you know? But at the very least, you get an idea of what you are looking for, and most of the time, so much more! Â Im undecided on the music as well. On one hand, I like the idea of using an iPod. We would probably just give in and rent the equipment if we did that. But i still really would like a DJ. I just worry that people won't dance and it will be a waste! I love dancing, some of my BMs not so much. I actually told them all that part of their "job" description is to get the party started and people moving! I might be a bit bridezilla about the whole dancing thing!!

Im using navy blue, fushia, and silver. My BM dresses will be navy, flowers fushia. I think we will have silver ribbon around the stems of the bouquet. The chairs will have a navy chair band with a fushia bow around it. We are also incorporating starfish. The centerpieces will be something with clear short vases with silver stones inside with fushia flowers. Not sure about the centerpieces yet! Â I was originally going whith fushia, orange, and bright blue, but I felt it was looking a little cheesy! I think this will look classy and the pink will really "pop"

Lauren, do you remember if Dreams had supplies for centerpieces( I know they have votives and flowers and stuff) like silver beads or stones to put in the votives? I want an accent of silver in the centerpieces and flowers, so thinking ahead of what I need to bring. Â This thread is so quiet lately! Anyone have news? Maybe all the brides that were so active before got married and are gone (well most!) Â

So here's a question, probably more for the brides who have already been married. How did you pay for the wedding once you were there? I'm assuming most people use a credit or bank card. Did they charge in pesos or US? We are wondering because we paid the deposit ($500) and were charged a service fee because the hotel charged us in the peso equivalent, so then the credit card company had to convert. We do know it was on the resort's end, because we recently used the same card in Playa del Carmen and did not have this happen because they charged us in US dollars. Obviously for small amounts, it's not a huge deal, but when we will be paying thousands, that could be an extra few hundred! We just want to be prepared! Â Oh and our website is mostly finished :www.danielleandbrett.com we still have to add an RSVP section, which will be pain because we have to build it on our own since we did not use a template with one. Good thing Brett is a programmer....now if I can get him to actually do it!!

How fun! Where are you having it? And wow! You have people booked already? That's awesome. You must be more on top of things than me! We are such slackers(meaning the FI and myself)

We got our STDs today! They are pretty nice, the colors were brighter online, but overall I am happy! SO our deposit was charged. It's 100% official. For anyone who had booked when the outside vendor fee was already in place ($500 for 50 people plus $500 deposit, etc), did they charge it? What if we fly our photog in and they are a guest? I know we have all discussed thes ad nauseum....but it seems most brides who recently brought someone in booked before that rule was in set in stone, so the fee got waived. We are just trying to figure out what is most economical (as far as not using the resort's photog). Anyone have any exciting news of their own?

I am not personally using DD, but have read nothing but amazing reviews! Also, I am in a contest right now to win invitations from them - they are starting to make invites as well as coordinate. Kristin has been awesome and even contacted me when some votes were not submitted correctly - and even emailed EVERY single person to tell them! I think that speaks for itself! I don't know...we may have to find some funds to spend on their planning services!

Congrats! It's all on the Dreams website - even has extra costs of things...short answer is $55. So we did contact a few TAs and the quote is $150-$200 more expensive than anything I have found on my own. Where is everyone finding these great deals from TAs? I do like the idea of everyone booking through one person; and I know most TAs will price match. But what is the point of doing all the work yourself and just having someone else book it? Yeah, yeah, I know the point - less people bugging ME with their questions! LOL How has everyone's flights with Mexicana worked out? I love flying with them, so hopefully they get their act together! Im also a bit disapointed that Im having a hard time finding cheap flights that are direct. Im very spoiled from flying direct to Cancun every year!

Do you still have spots left Tammy? Do you plan on doing any in the beginning of next year? I'm not sure Im feeling totally in shape this soon!

We are really considering flying in a photographer to avoid the fees of bringing one into the resort. Do a lot of photographers just ask for the travel costs? OR do some want travel costs plus something extra? I don't want to offend anyone!

As of right now (and I know this all may change by tomorrow!) mY BMs will walk in to "Bubbly" by Colbie Callet and I will walk into "In Your Eyes" by the vitamin String Quartet. Although when I told my friend that she asked if my FI will be standing there holding up a stereo over his head! I totally did not think of that, but I think it's pretty funny!

What a great review! I love all the details and the pics help me picture it so much! I showed my FI the pics of Las Palmas, and he loved the space. I have seen some of your other posts on the Dreams PV thread, since we are getting married there April 9. I was wondering how you contacted the TA? I went to the main website and the rates are great! Was she able to get even cheaper group rates? We are having a really hard time deciding to get a TA; we need to find one we trust!

Thanks ladies! You know, you have some great points about using a TA! It makes me second guess our decision. I just have no idea how to find a TA I trust! I have not used one in about 10 years. Im a crazy deal hunter and love to do it, so I do! But my one big worry is fielding 100's of requests and questions. I think I may need to do a little searching this week. I have a few days off, so it would be a good time. We did decide to send STDs as well. Funny story (although Im sure many of you have experienced this too!) - I was on this site with my fiance sitting next to me, looking at the STD thread. He goes "what the ****? Why are they talking about STDs ?Are we going to have people asking about this because it's Mexico? People are CRAZY!" I thought he was kidding and just kind of went "haha." He says "no. seriously. why?(completely bewildered)" I just about died laughing! ahhh I love all the wedding lingo!

Hi ladies! This forum has been a little quiet lately, so I thought I would add something! Well, we booked our room today, so hopefully our deposit will be charged soon. We are so excited and it feels a lot more real now. We have been going back and forth about sending STDs. We were thinking this: it seems from other brides, a lot of people start booking once they get the STDs. So why send both? Why not send just an invite (with a ton of info) earlier than usual. We do have a website and were thinking we could direct people there as well. Plus we just don't know when to start sending everything. I looked at the thread that discusses it, but everyone has a different opinion, so who knows? Our date is April 9, 2011. Any opinions or suggestions? Also, we are not using a TA. We have found that rates we find online are cheaper. Plus the room block rate Dreams gave us is still a few hundred more than what we have found. Our one problem: I was looking for rates for for my future SILs. They both have babies that will be 1 and 2. Every online search engine says infants are not allowed in the old tower. I know this is not true. I emailed dreams, but no response. They would want a deluxe room to save $$. I wonder if they could just book one and then add on the infant on arrival? Ok, I guess that's enought for now! Hope everyone's planning is going good.

Im hoping to send em soon. The wedding is April 9 2011. Im not sure about time lines for everything. One more general question: who had a legal ceremony and who had symbolic? I think we are leaning toward having our legal day here first. We probably would only tell the BM and MOH...Im worried some people might be mad or not get it if we aren't "really" getting married there. Anyone who did a symbolic : did you pick your own ceremony script? Did you do regular vows? Im hoping no one will know the difference!

I just wanted to tell you girls how excited I am! We finally found a date! April 9, 2011. Which is funny, because that was the 2nd date I asked about and she said it was not available, and now it is! Im glad everyone was just asking about the reserving and confirming. We obviously don't have the trip booked since we just got the date - how long will she hold the date for us? Rus - the other date we were looking at was May 28. We asked about renting Oceana and she gave us the price, but never said it was booked! Glad we didn't choose that date, cause I would have had a fit! The only reason we were considering renting space was because she was telling us Las Palmas was booked every Sat in April and MAy. Then all of a sudden it is not on April 9 and May 21 and 28.
