  1. I can't believe that I just found this thread!!!! I'm sending you an email now - I want 20!
  2. Congrats Steve and Jenn I'm curious to hear what you think of the Thai Beach Club in terms of atmosphere for the actual reception. We are thinking of going this way instead of the Beach Reception. I love the idea of an open air restaurant on the beach!
  3. Ashley, I'm so glad to hear how perfect everything turned out! You have put my mind at ease when it comes to hair/make-up. I am curious to know....when you were walking down the aisle could the music playing be heard? I know it sounds like an odd question - but I plan to walk down the aisle to "Somewhere over the rainbow" and if the sound is washed out by noise I would rather leave it till our 1st dance

You should probably consider having your ceremony at 3 if you don't want to feel rushed. Good luck! Sunrise and Sunset for Mexico This is a great tool - Thanks
  5. I have been looking into this as well. All I could come up with was catamarans....which from what I can tell doesn't really work for a reception - with food, drinking & dancing. However its a great idea if you want to take your guests out on an excursion!

We live in Hamilton and doing ours at the Yacht Club overlooking the water about 2 weeks after we get back. Having it on a Friday night - apps, food stations (pasta, carved beef, mashed potato martinis, seafood, chocolate fountain). We aren't doing a cake but instead having boxed cupcakes that will serve in place of it and act as a favor. I even picked up some left over candy from Hallowe'en and going to have it on some high top tables in large glass bowls.

They have been much more accommodating, but yes more money...Either way I'm pretty excited and can't believe how close it is!!!!! Which restaurant or you going with in Playa? Are you finding it cheaper than the beach reception option?
  9. We're bringing our own photographer from here....it was one of the few things that I felt I could have control on, since there are several unknowns with a dw. Not to mention I was able to have my engagement pics included for the cost
  10. Question for you ladies who are having the beach reception.....Do any of you have under 40 guests and if so what rate are you paying for those "empty seats" I have been back and forth on this with Patricia and having serious issues with what they are proposing! The going rate for an adult is $85/pp and kids are half of that, for the empty seats they want me to pay the rate of $85/pp. I'm insisting that they give me the kids rate since its pure profit for them and if I was filling them with kids thats what I would be paying anyway! What do you think?

We choose a destination wedding because it would be simple, informal, and gorgeous. We didn’t think we would have so many guests, but right now, 70 people have put down deposits. We were also told that this is too many people for an ala carte dinner and we are forced to pay for a private reception. Being left with no other choice we agreed to this. Since then we have now been informed that there will be absolutely no drink service. If we wish to have any beverages available for our guests we must pay for an open bar. This will add another $3400! Not to mention the fact that every time I have received an additional service price list, the amounts have gone up. So please if you are committed to this resort, get all your costs nailed down and in writing ASAP, it will save you a lot of surprises. I'm so sorry to hear that! What private reception choice have you gone with? Have you considered moving your reception off of the resort? Or at the very least bluffing that you will?
  12. Not yet I plan on following up with the resort on this....Patricia has given me a contact in the salon. When I have something I can share!

I've thought about it though, and I think it'll be fun. Most people have never had a dinner fondue, plus it will buy us more time in the restaurant as fondue typically takes awhile to eat since you cook it at your table. Since we don't have set plans for after dinner, this seems like a good trade off. We have chosen the shrimp/salmon plate, but are allowed to opt for the chicken dish for our guests who don't eat seafood. So I've had to do a tally of what everyone will eat, but it's worked out ok. I'm sure they would give you the same option with the other restaurants... See you there!! I had also thought about the fondue since I was reading reviews about it on another site somewhere....the only thing I had heard just as a heads up is that you don't actually cook your meal in oil or broth....its more of a cheese dip kinda thing. Not sure if its true or not but you might want to double check!
  14. OMG! What are the chances? A fellow Cdn Bride....and we are also getting married on April 19, 2010. I'm not sure if I should be excited or concerned? Have you actually confirmed your date? I'm sure its all good and they do more than 1 wedding a day! We should compare notes

You must be soooooo relieved
  16. Oops sorry ladies....I just realized thats my stepdad's bday, gonna have to pass
  17. Is this open to everyone? Brides & Brides-To-Be? I live in the Hammer but work in Waterloo! If not.....no worries

Thanks. From what I can tell there are 3 wedding coordinatiors there; Diana Bardales [email protected] Patricia González [email protected] Sandra Chavira [email protected]
  19. We have booked the trip and I am planning on sending in the wedding booking this weekend. Patricia said that my date is available, so I'm hoping that stays true. If not I have some room to change since I think we are going to get married here first! I totally want to do the beach party. Even though I agree it is crazy $$$$$....but the way I'm looking at it is that we are going all that way for a certain kind of experince I want to make sure that I don't look back and have any regrets.
  20. I know that my MOH has tossed around the idea of a poll dancing party. I have also seen a scavenger hunt done throughout your neighbourhood or city!
  21. We are doing ours on a Friday evening 2 1/2 weeks after we get home, with approx 150 people. We have rented out a hall above the local Yacht Club, which I'm thrilled about because it ties in the whole water/beach thing. Guests will be served apps on arrival and than a few hours later we will have a small seafood buffet and food stations; carved beef with a variety of breads and spreads, made to order pasta station, mashed potato martinis and a chocolate fountain. Throughout the evening we are having a dj and open bar. As well my photographer is putting together a slide show of our photos from Mexico to be shown at some point during the evening. I plan on decorating with turquiose linens, lots of fuschia flowers and white candles....all ties into our wedding colours. Oh and the whole wedding party will be in the wedding attire
