Looking forward to seeing how it all looks! My email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance! Liz Hi Liz.....(did you get the other pics that I sent you?) I brought my own photographer from home, she's a friend of mine and we are still waiting on the pics, if you remind me in a few weeks I can send them through. But picture a outdoor restaurant, all dark wood with thatched roof tops......large luminary type lights (that were turquoiseish) on the ground, tikki torches everwhere, right on the beach - beautiful beds and lounge chairs.....very pretty. As for the music, we had an ipod all loaded up and read to go and when we got to the Thai Beach Club there was a dj already there that we didn't pay for! I even told Patricia that I didn't want one when she put it on my original contract. So I can't even be sure of the layout of outlets but I know they must have them cause what would the dj have used? No real need for a dance floor......since you're at a restaurant that has floor. Hope that helps...let me know if you have any other questions Jill

I understand your concern with January, but I have been there at that time of year (although it was 10 years ago) and it was quite nice. Maybe you could do pashminas as a favor? The food was fantastic.....we had the private reception buffet and everyone said it was the best meal they had at the hotel. As for our wedding package, we did the renewal of vows and had our 20 person a la carte dinner the night before in the Mexican resturant as a rehersal dinner type thing. Also we wended up with a dj.....for FREE!!!! I told Patricia that I didn't want it when she originally put it on my contract so she took it off and didn't cahrge me for it......yippeee!!!!! Without a doubt I was sooo happy that I had my reception here, it was beautiful! I even heard other people at the pool a few days later saying how much they loved the resturant!
  3. We just got back from GSP early Sunday morning and what an AMAZING time we had. It was my total dream wedding come true. We went for a total of 10 days - WED to WED for my guests and an extra 3 for us. My guests all pretty much paid for jr suites, but all got upgraded to jr deluxe for free. We paid for the same but had also paid for the change to a Laguna Villa the day of our wedding - which they gave to us a day early. I absolutly loved this upgrade, we both did. The room was beautiful, private pool with beds, bar, concierge etc. However not so sure we would have taken full advantage of it if our guests had still been there. We also went with the Private Thai Beach for our reception.....another great choice. Although it is pricey and I was back and forth on it right up until the end. I am so glad we did it, what beautiful spot......totally worth it! Please let me know if you have any questions

I didn't want to pick a song that was too short, and then be left walking down in silence. Thanks! I had the same question.....it took approx 2-3 mins for myself, 3 girls and my flower girl. We did a trial run the day before, just so that I could tell them where to start the music. We used "Somewhere over the rainbow" and there was plenty of time.

Seems crazy! Were you charged the same thing? My email is [email protected] ...thanks a bunch!!! I sent you some pics It is a lot of $$$$$ especially considering that you're at an all inclusive. But for me in the end the way I looked at it was that it was my wedding day and I'm not going to Mexico to have my reception in a la carte restaurant. In the end I'm sooo glad I'm going prvate as I have heard that the resort is going to be busy. I did consider the beach reception, but my finace wasn't so hot on the idea of having sand everywhere. Also I decided to cut back and have a renewal of vows ceremony and am only paying 1/2 price for kids and empty seats since I only have 35 people total coming.

Oh ya it's gonna be busy......our flight is sold out and i'm pretty sure the resort is as well. What time is your ceremony?
  8. Thank you so much Meghan.....I actually just found somewhere thanks to Tracy. You girls rock!!!! It's amazing how we are all in different parts of the country but we can all fiigure it

Background: Our colors our navy blue and white. Theme is 'paradise found...' Beach towels that we are handing out at our family dinner on Thursday (only fam is going) Bought the towels from Kohls on sale for $2.70 each, embroidery for $5.00 each, bought 13 yards of ribbon for $12.00, and iron on letters for $3.30 for 1 packet of alphabet. This is a close up of the cards that are tucked into the ribbon; it's the legend of the sand dollar and it has a prayer on it. Bought the cards for $1.00 per pack of 5, roll of ribbon for $1.39, sand dollars for $.30 each. I put the sand dollar where I wanted it on the card, wrapped the ribbon around it, and then hot glued the ribbon in the back. This is the towl with out anything else Bride and groom koozies that I bought at Jo Ann Fabric for apx $7.00 I made my own pretty hanger for pics of my dress. I bought the hanger at Wal Mart for $5.68 and the paint for $.99 This is the front, it has an H on it for our last name (HOYT) This is the back side of the hanger This is what will be sitting on the chairs at the ceremony. I made my own tears of joy packets. Bought the organza bags at Michaels for $2.70 for a package of 10, the tissues at Michaels for $10.00 for a package of 10 individually wrapped packages of tissues (think travel size kleenex packages), the 'love' hearts at Michaels for $1.00 for a package of 25, the bubbles at Michaels for $6.00 for a package of like a zillion and one, the ribbon at michaels for $1.39 for a whole roll (I think maybe 10 yards). Then I just stuffed the baggies with the tissues, added the love thing and tied it. For the bubbles I just added the love thing and made a bow out of the ribbon. Unfortunately that's all the pics that I have. I do have navy blue chair sashes, navy blue fabric for the yuppa, ribbon for my bouquet and FI bout, and my sand ceremony kit. My sand ceremony vase I bought from Kirklands, so it's not really made to use for this purpose but I like it alot. Jenna.....you did an AMAZING job, I love your tear of joy and bubble packs.....they looks so good!!!!
  10. uh oh.....you're likely gonna end up with 60ish......LOL! Better to be safe than sorry though
  11. Hey Tracy - where did you get your hankies embroidered, was it a local place or a chain? Thought I would ask in case I can find one here. I'm having such a tough time finding somewhere. Thanks ___________ Jill
  12. The second link works. I love those shoes.....they look like the ones from Sex and The City when Carrie goes on her big date with Mr. Big before he moves to New York.

We do not have the restaurant to ourselves and there are 35 of us that will be in attendance. Apparently they block off the area a little bit so it is kind of semi private. I have a few questions though, that Patrica could not answer because she did not understand. Is it possible to do speeches at the reception dinner? I'm worried the background noise will be to loud. Where would my wife and I do our first dance? Is it common to do this in the restaurant? As well the Father/Daughter Mother/Son dance? Will they allow us to bring an ipod and dock into the restuarant and play it over the course of the dinner? I have seen plenty of weddings with on vacation, but i have never witnessed a reception while away. If anyone has tips please send them along!!! thanks! 2 weeks.....Fantastic!!!! I think that you could do your speeches in the restaurant, but keep in mind that you only get the restaurant for 1 1/2 hours which may or may not be enough time. As for your first dance you do that in the lobby. From what I hear you are able to give the band a CD and they will play it for you, but this may only apply for 1 dance.....you and your hunny! I'm not so sure on the music during dinner....are you just looking to do this for dinner music?
  14. I'm just doing simple table decor.....some chargers, with some turquoise sand I got from Bowrings, along with a few candles and some shells from dollarama. I don't want to bring anything breakable. Yes everything is happening so quickly.....I have had to say just screw it on a few things cause I don't have enought time...LOL!
  15. I think that that the semi-private is a fantastic option, it's a beautiful setting and chances are from what I hear you always get it for longer I hope you have a great time. I also have the $40/pp....I'm sure they will honor it. Patricia had also sent me the Thai menu, saying I could pick off of that as well. Have you booked your a la carte option that comes with the renewal package? We are doing the Mexican, the night before....kind of like a mini rehersal party. We actually leave on the 24th So we will just miss each other! Oh ya.....tanning, just have to add that to my list of "to do's" LOL!!!
  16. It totally is going to be AMAZING. I just sent Patricia everything as well and was so back and forth on the whole thing. In the end it was important for me to have a private reception and I got the resort to accept my empty seats for the children's rate so in the end it wasn't so bad. We decided to just do the renewal package, but we will "sign our papers" when we get back. When do you arrive Suzy?

I felt the same way so I went ahead with Discount mugs, and they arrived today....exacly the date they said they would. I love them!!!! I had ordered 25 and ended up with 43.
  18. Yippee.....everything is all booked We're doing the Thai Beach Club and I can't wait!!!!!!
  19. I can't find the one that is open to the public? But I did request to join the private one

The other negative side is that there is the time limitation as well. You have only 1.5 to 2 hrs, the same as in ala carte restaurant. I am not decided which route I should go. Any advice on the restaurants? which ones would have the ambiance for the dinner? Thanks I think that you're quoting the semi-private option. As for the private you have to have a minimum of 40 and you have it from 6-10PM
