Well, I just wrote an entire review, didn't save it, tried to post it, and POOF! it disappeared! UGH! BUT even so, it isn't ticking me off too bad because our wedding was WONDERFUL!!! It was February 5, 2010 at 4pm on the beach under the hoopa (not the gazebo), and it was everything I wanted it to be. Emotional, so special, and beautiful! I checked this website almost everyday during the months before my wedding because like most, my DH and I had never even been to Jamaica! Every review and every picture I saw on here helped to calm my nerves a little more. Just let me say quickly that the resort, the staff, the food, Nikki (and Chandlyn), the flowers, the music, the ceremony, the reception all met and exceeded my expectations. I couldn't have asked for anything more. My husband and I are so very happy with how everything turned out. Huge thanks to Nikki (the assistant WC at the ROR) who we worked with for everything wedding, who was as cool as a cucumber through everything and absolutely wonderful, patient and helpful. Future ROR brides, do not worry about a thing! We had 19 in all in our group and everyone had a great time! Those who didn't stay the whole week with us all kept saying they wish they'd had more time there. I will do a full review and post pictures on here as soon as I can and as soon as I figure out how!!

Hi Kristin!! We will get to ROR on Sunday so I'm sure we'll see you there sometime. I'll look for you and your wedding on Wednesday! (2 days before ours ) Everything, especially your dress, looks amazing! Great job on your planning thread....I didn't even attempt one! Cheers to Ocho Rios!

I think close to every destination bride and groom goes through some amount of this and it sucks!! But, finally, my fiance and I realized that all that matters is that he and I are there, and a minister to marry us! Now we are getting married in 21 days at ROR and there will be 19 of us total and I am stoked about it! I think it's a great number and people who we dearly love, and who obviously dearly love us will be there! But even some of the ones going stressed me out some point along the way about the destination part! Just don't listen, and don't let them stress you out!! I know you need to vent!

It sounds like you got the pack to fill out that is the exact same online if you book the wedding date through the hotel. Haven't filled mine out yet but I guess I should hurry since our wedding is at the beginning of Feb 2010! Hey Jamin2010! Welcome to the forum! I booked my wedding for ROR a couple of months ago and I too started reading some not so great reviews. I've realized that there are people out there who are never totally happy with anything. I think about it now and think that this is my wedding! As long as myself, my hubby to be, and our family is having a good time, it will be the best vacation ever. We are getting married Feb 5, 2010!!

Hi all. I recently got engaged and my fiance and I want a great destination wedding for our families and us to enjoy. We are huge travelers, and like some simplicity which is why we chose destination. We are almost completely decided on Jamaica and probably Ochos Rios since the beach and ocean there is supposed to be nicer and clearer, from what I've read. If there are ANY brides who have already stayed at the RIU Ochos Rios, I would LOVE some info! We are planning for either this November or the first of February 2010. We will be a party of 20-25, including 5 children ages 3-8. We want a really nice resort that allows kids. We would like the ocean to be clear and calm enough to do plenty of water activites.
