I have been told the same things, as I want to get married there in May/11. I know I should wait, but I want to send out Save the Dates soon and August is just too long! Did anyone send out save the dates without having the actual date confirmed? I can't remember if I read this in this thread, but was anyone able to convince Elena to book early? Also did anyone hire a minister from outside the resort to perform the ceremony?

These are some great suggestions, looks like I may be going to a few places. Like bridal debut, which I hadn't heard of, and maybe that Novelle Bridal? Has anyone ever been to Wedding World?

Last night I was finalizing my Bridesmaid cards and I still can't quite make a decision on what to do. My sister and I are close but not nearly as close as my friends. I am going to ask her to be a bridesmaid and maybe ask my good friend to be the MOH. I don't want to hurt anyones's feelings and I don't think that my friend could handle the task a MOH is "suuposed" to do, as I am an organizer and she isn't at all, so I was also thinking of just asking them all of be BM and not have a MOH at all. BUT then my FI kind of wants to ask one of his friends to be a best man, will that be weird if he has that and I don't have a MOH?? He said he woulld just go without a bestman and have them all be GM but I can tell he would prefer the best man situation. I could really use some advice on what to do, I need to send out the "Will you be my bridesmaid" card soon so I am giving them a lot of notice. Any suggestions would be so awesome, my brain hurts!

Hey there I am from Edmonton! Good idea starting this! I am just in the works with my TA about booking at the Catalonia Yucatan (also known as the Catalonia Riviera Maya) for May 2011. I haven't gone dress shopping but I am working on getting my save the dates, most likely from Visa Print and my will you be my bridemaid card from a seller off Etsy! I was thinking of a few places in Edmonton though for dresses, like the Bridal House or maybe a few places downtown. I have heard they are really snobby at the Bridal House thought and I don't really want to deal with that! Haha I was thinking of maybe taking a girls trip to Calgary to look there. Have you gone anywhere yet looking? Oh and my name is Lacey and my fiance's name is Curtis

I also told her she was under no obligation to work for us as just because we are family but she said she would love to. I really hope it isn't going to be like this for the whole process because if it is I might have to have an uncomfortable conversation with her or it will just make the process stressful! I have decided on the Cat and am very excited, just finished reading through the whole thread! I am waiting to hear back from my TA so we can try and proceed. I will be going in May 2011 and I am hoping to get a date nailed down as soon as possible so I can send out the Save the Dates! Plus I am just so excited! All of your pics are just gorgeous! I can say that I have been there about 3 years ago and just loved it. The people there were one of the reasons why we had such a good time, really open to having a fun time! We didn't have a problem with the language barrier, we didn't expect much from the staff as English is not their first language. Also I wouldn't say the location is overly large, we have been to bigger and didn't find the occidental exhausing to walk around or anything like that. We saw 2 weddings when we were there but they were very very small, just bride and groom, and it seemed like they had it in a very public place with not much privacy. We also liked the food and never really had a complaint, it had its busy moments and was frustrating when some people from other countries would cut in line with no disregard to you, but what do you do, your on vacation. Some flaws but despite that we had a great time at this location! Good luck with everything! Its so hard to make a decision!
