  1. I know! I am thinking it will be a lot and can't decide if I should just pay it or cancel the order! I searched and can't find it all here and its quote a bit more. Why can't Canada just have all the things I want!
  2. Josie, I am so excited for you, 9 days! So Pilar had been good, do they arrange a lot of stuff before hand like the reception and details like hiring people, like DJ, minister etc? Do you have everything all ready to go? I can't wait to hear all about it! Lacey
  3. Hey Kristen, I am having my reception at the pure chill out too and I am buying the round Japanese paper latterns with batteries in them, half in turquiose and half in black (those are our wedding colours). I also got aqua and black diamond confetti for the tables and I am going to look for turquoise tea lights to put on the table too. I am also buying chair sashes for the wedding ceremony in turqoise, and them I am going to ask that they change them and put them on the reception chairs. I am also going to buy the flowers so I guess I will just discuss with them about using them at the reception. Also we are doing a renewal of the vows and are probably going to hire a minister to perform the ceremony. Another girl who got married at the cat did this through a contact the hotel had and they were very happy with them, so its that or someone from the hotel, but I think I like the minister idea. I also got turqoise silk fans for the ladies for the wedding ceremony. We are going in May so it is going to be hot! I don't know who will do my make up, it would be nice for someone else to do it but I don't know if people from the hotel do and if they are good. I may just apply my foundation and have my friend do my eyes. I am worried about my hair too just because its hard to work with being that I have a ton of it and its thick, I may get the hair trial done right when I get there so I know that I will like it day of. I have had a lot of bad hair-dos and want it to be good on the wedding day! Lacey
  4. Hey has anyone ordered favors, etc from US sites and have to pay customs or duties on it when it arrived? I just ordered a bunch of stuff from Beau-Coup and then after i submitted it had the customs, duties message! I already paid $45 on shipping I don't want to be suprised with more charges when it all gets here!
  5. Hey Jetsettin, My wedding is planned for May 5, 2011 and I too was worried about the resort being really loud and busy on our wedding day. I asked our photographer, who lives there, and he said the same. It isn't a Mexican holiday so they don't do much at all and he wasn't worried about it. I also asked the resort, and they said there wouldn't be loud interruptions. So I wouldn't let that date hinder a possible wedding date. I have also been to Punta Cana and enjoyed the food there and did not get sick. But thats just me, I don't hold too high of a bar when I travel to all inclusives, people have to know that it really won't be the same as Canada and the US. Happy Planning!
  6. Thanks so much for sharing! Where did you get your turqoise tea lights? I love those sandals too! I already got mine but those are just awesome! Its too bad the BD Shoot photograpgher moved, I am looking into doing that too, but love the idea of the oilers jersey. My FI is odsessed with them! I am also using Ivan Luckie, so I am excited to hear how the photos turn out! Glad to see another Edmonton bride, everything you planned is so great! Have a great time and a wonderful wedding!
  7. I found some great local jewelry makers in Edmonton when I was at the Make It craft show a couple of weekends ago. Her company name is Sapphire-Jewellery and she custom designs stuff for brides and their bridesmaid. I bought some cute earing from her and I am going to meet up with her in the New Year to design stuff. Below is her website. http://www.sapphire-jewellery.com/home.html
  8. Whitemud creek is so nice, what a gem. It is expensive though. The capacity at Capilano does concern me becasue I am thinking around 80 will be coming, but their fees are reasonable! I got to go looking at all of these places right after New Years! Its coming so soon and before I know it all of the places are going to be booked.
  9. That Leefield hall does look nice! Kind of expensive though. When are you having your reception? I am looking at Capilano hall, it also has a patio, I just want to actually go look at it. I also really like OTS park. Its really big, but has a wonderful park so we could be outside. I really want to have the option of being outside. I am still kind of looking though. I really need to hurry on this though places are going to start filling up. Let me know if anyone else has any ideas for an at home reception.
  10. I agree, this is a great idea, I always drink gatorade the day after I have had a few drinks Noticed you are an Alberta girl, where did you find the packets of tylenol, did they also have advil?
  11. Thanks so much for sharing this! What are your thoughts on the DJ? I have been going back and forth between this. I don't know if I should do the IPOD thing or get the DJ. I guess for $100/hour it wouldn't be too bad considering we wouldn't start the dance until about 7:30ish. Did Elena tell you the chill out bar would be ready for 6:00pm? Also I am curious about the prices and why they are priced in USD, I recently read that Mexico will no longer accept USD as payment. Only $1500 US can be brought. I guess they will just charge everything in Pesos? I have looked around for the sashes and I think that linensdirect site has the bes deal, I am going to be ordering mine from there! Oh also how are you having the tables arranged or are you doing up a seating chart? I don't know if I like the idea of having a head table, I am very non traditional that way. My bridal party is 10 and then the two of us and I like the idea of sitting at a round table with all of them, I wonder if they would be able to do that. Is anyone having or did anyone have centerpieces? I like the idea but I would only do it if I could bring some easy and cheap things from home or if the flower arrangements there aren't too expensive. Haha I have been thinking about all of these details a lot and who better than to ask all of you ladies! Can't help it I am getting excited because its getting closer and closer and we are at 40 people now!
  12. Thats so great to hear!! I am really glad that you had a great experience with them, I think I am going to use them with my dress. How long did the alterations take?
  13. I have never heard of anything like this! I am very intruiged and interested to hear how they work. I think they would be such a good idea to put in a hangover kit!
  14. WOW!! Thank you so much for sharing all of this awesome info Tonia!!! I am definitley going to use some of this info you provided about the hotel in my pre-travel brochure/newsletter! Your bags look awesome! Did you make the door hangers yourself?
  15. My mom got her dress at Melanie Lynn, they had a really good selection of dresses for older women. She bought when the summer stuff went on clearance. My mom wanted to get a dress with mostly black, but I told her that this is a beach wedding and she should try and get some colours. The dress she found is white, blue and green, very nice for the beach! Â
  16. Thanks! Let me know how they do, I think I will need to look for a place that does this and I need to get my top changed to a sweetheart too! Â
  17. Congratulations on your recent engagement! Good luck with all the planning this forum will give you so much great tips and advice!
  18. Hey pinyaflava, this Debbie's bridal fashion do they just do alterations? Or do they just sell gowns and offer alterations to their customers? Â
  19. I've booked with Ivan Luckie and he has been great! His photos are awesome and I think he had the best bang for your buck. He has also shot a few weddings at the Cat so he knows the hotel well. Â
  20. Hey Ladies, do they have people on the resort that do hair and makeup. I saw some pics recently of a wedding at the Cat and it looked like they were getting their hair done at the spa or maybe somewhere else around the resort. I was under the impression that they didn't really offer these services at the hotel. Â Has anyone gotten their hair and makeup at the cat and if so, were you really happy with them?
