We're doing our wedding at an off-site venue because we really wanted the privacy and we wanted control over which vendors we could use. thanks for the info! i really appreciate it!
  2. thank you for all ur insights ladies. alot of you make some good points! we def have to really think about this!
  3. has anyone ever done a cocktail party at the RIU Negril? we're thinking of having one, but don't really know the logistics. how much will it cost...what's included...will appetizers be flowing for the 4 hour time period we want? i've asked the WC, but she's so busy she takes a while to get back to you. the only thing i got from her was that we would pay $15 per person for the Hor o'douvers and $150 per hour which includes an open bar and DJ. i just don;t know if the $15 is also per hour. if it's per hour per person, that's more expensive than a sit down dinner which averages to $45 per person. if anyone has some insight....please pass along the information!! i'd really like to know soon and before we head out to Jamaica!!! thanks!
  4. heather, i have a question for you... my FI and i are thinking of doing a cocktail reception as well. however we'd like to do it at the AI which happens to be RIU Negril. what was the price differnce for you? how much is it costing you to do a cocktail party at a differnt venue as oppossed to it being at the resort? which RIU are you staying at.
  5. i like #5 the best. 4b is nice too, but i would bold your names some more to stand out from the pink background.
  6. my fiancee and i are thinking about having a cocktail party as the wedding celebration at the resort we are staying at. i'm just not sure if it's appropiate. especially since i feel like we are dragging people to different country for our day. i'm afraid that people'll expect to have a sit down dinner and be disappointed. if we do have a cocktail party it would be held at the resort disco and we would have it all to our selves. cost wise...i think it will def help us. if we decide to go with this..how should we forewarn our guests of what to expect. thanks!
  7. yes, yes, yes! i met my fiancee online too!! i used to deny it and say that we meet in school. i thought people would think it was strange, but now i'm so proud and happy! we met on migente.com (a hispanic social networking site). he actually sent me a message asking me if i knew his ex-girlfriend. he thought i went to school with her...lol. we were friends at first and he was actually my go to person to vent to when i was having problems with the guy i was seeing at the time. how funny! we spoke on the phone a few times and eventually we meet in person. 7 years later...he asked me to "have his babies" (literally that's what he said with the engagement ring box upside down). of course i said yes!! i'm so happy to see there's so much love on the internet!!

  10. yes, this is true. i'm getting married at the club RIU in Negril, jamaica in August. i was thinking of bringing a photographer from home but that didnt work out. we decided to hire an outside photgrapher who lives in Jamaica and all we have to do is pay for the day pass. i guess each RIU resort is different becasue i am paying $80 for the day pass.
  11. Hi Everyone! i've been researching on different ways to make luggae tags and i came across this website. i wanted to share! i just bought self adhesive laminating luggaeg tags, folded business card stock paper and the template to create my design from paperdirect.com. the luggage tags were $14.99 for a pack of 25 which also includes the loops. the folded business card paper was $14.99 for 100 and the microsoft word template was $3.00. i'm making 50 tags and although i have some extra business card paper...i thought this was a great deal! i'm spending 95 cents to make each tag!!! they have so many different papers for every occasion. once i make them, i'll be sure to put the pictures up and show my work!! remember paperdirect.com hope this helps!

  15. I see in the picture that you have banana boat sunblock, but you don't mention that you have any. do you have any...if so how much?
  16. hi, congrats and welcome! it all depends on what you want to spend. we are budgeting for 17k, but thats including inviations, a private 4 hour reception, photography, videography, our flights 8 nite stay and we are even contributing to the cost for our wedding party and parents. you can definetly do a lot more with a destination wedding then you would for a wedding @ home (@ least i think so)! it all depends on what your priorities are. good luck!
