  8. Thanks! I contacted them and they are still open. Unfortunately they only do weddings may - dec and I'm looking to get married in April 2010. I was told I could do it at Petit lafitte. Here's the website if anyone is interested. Hotels offered by MayaZone
  9. Hey girls, I'm bumping this forum up. Anybody have any updates on Shangri-La Caribe? I'm looking to get married in april 2010, is it still getting torn down this spring?
  10. Anyone know how Huatulco compares price wise to Riviera Maya? airplane flights from the US and resorts. It looks beautiful but I'm afraid it might be more pricey for my guests...
  11. Andy -- I completely agree, too many choices!! I'm not much help, i've been engaged since November and still haven't picked a country. best of luck with the decision! and let me know what you decide!
  12. glad to see so many people getting married at home before/after their DW! I hadn't even thought of it as an option until a friend of mine that got married in DR told me it took 6 months to get the paper work after the wedding before she could even start thinking about changing her name, and she never got her birth certificate back...i think i'm going to get legally married before leaving for my DW!

We are renting timeshares that can house 6 people each (two bed/two bath w/ full kitchen) for a full week. The costs to rent a timeshare is so much less than renting a room or suite at a regular resort. So we are doing that for accomodations for the wedding party, which is about 20 people (5 rooms). Then we are going to ask that each person who FOR SURe knows that they will be coming to make a $150 deposit for their share of the room expenses. And then once we get closer to the date we will know exactly how many people are coming and how much more to charge each person. Sounds like alot of work right? But I think its worth it to have all my peeps come from all over. I'll do the extra work. So we will stay at a timeshare and then have the wedding and reception at the Marriot. The total for each person to stay at the timeshare will be no more than $300. Which is a sweet deal for a whole week! Okay this is becoming wayy too long so I will end here. But def. let me know if you have questions! I am excited to hear where you end up having your wedding. I spoke with my WC today (via email) and she still won't book 2/11/10 until about a month. She says that she is only booking conventions right now. UGH! a_Bailly -- I like your idea! which timeshare did you pick? My grandparents own a few and i was hoping to trade them to use for my wedding, but it seems everyone else is doing the all-inclusive thing. I was starting to think it wasn't possible...

  16. Hey All, My name is Sarah. I've decided on a destination wedding and am very excited about it. I'm now debating between Jamaica or Riviera Maya in April 2010. Any thoughts? Any resort recommendations? I'm predicting around 100 guests -- kids and adults, coming from all 4 corners of the US. Thanks! Sarah
