  1. You're too funny! I think both pairs are cute and will last much longer than the whale watching would.
  2. I think it should stay a secret from general guests, but it wouldn't feel right to me if our parents weren't there! I think we'll also include df's grandparents, since they can't travel to the dw. I haven't decided about siblings yet...
  3. Sounds like a nice activity to offer to guests and get in touch with the area. They have discounts on the website but I probably wouldn't want to book ahead of time just in case we fill our time doing other things. Did they offer any discounts for booking at the resort??
  4. The magic magnet is a great idea- do you know firsthand that they are necessary at your resort? I'd hate to include them and confuse all the guests if they don't need them. Which resorts do you need these to keep the AC running? Great job, bargain shopper!
  5. You may get to meet the designer, which is pretty cool. Most trunk shows will offer you a discount if you buy that day, so do your research, know what you want and how much you're willing to spend, and be prepared to maybe make a purchase that day! Very exciting!

  7. Thanks for sharing your insight. It seems to be a common theme that after pouring your heart into planning your wedding many brides zig zag career paths and look into TA, wedding planner, etc, and rightfully so... we wouldn't be so involved in planning everything if we didn't love it to bits as much as we do! What are your opinions on being a cruise ship TA, for example? Are you perceived as a "specialist" or "limited in what you can do" ?
  8. I'm not getting married at Iberostar but I'm thinking of moving to the Iberostar Grand in Riviera Maya after our wedding for the honeymoon! I saw a picture of it in a travel magazine and fell in love. Anyone been there?
  9. When Drew and I met he was active service, Army SF. Two months into us dating he deployed to Iraq. It was terrible I feel so lucky that as the end of his contract approached he designed not to re-sign, instead he left the military and is now back in school. We're both students, broke as a joke, living in a tiny studio apartment, but I cannot say how appreciative I am to be able to see him every day. The time he was deployed was rough and it takes a STRONG woman to be able to keep everything together! Much support to all you super ladies. *hugs!
  10. Haha these are good (except for the makeup, ahhhh)! I am not married yet but I nearly had 2 moments so far: 1- Swine flu fiasco, enough said! 2- Found out Apple Vacations isn't continuing their Thurs-Sun charters. We had planned our trip around that Still figuring out what to do!
  11. Cute new pic, Katie. Wanted to tell you I love your wedding website, tons of great info on there!
  12. I think the 2nd Alfred Angelo is very flattering on you. Gorgeous! The first one is nice and beachy, that's my second choice.
  13. Welcome! Check out the Riu Palace Riviera Maya. We have a superlong thread of chicas who are planning their weddings there (use the search function at the top). It was the best choice resort for me!
  14. Other option (i hate to suggest this) is babysitting.... apparently the going rate is paying $15-20/hour, holy crap! I used to make $2.50/hour... But here the hours are pretty reasonable if you're willing to give up an occasional weekend
  15. Do you have a special craft? Think about setting up an Etsy account and selling something homemade and unique... aprons, picture frames, whatever you enjoy making!
  16. Did you have a program from the ceremony? Welcome letter? CD of the music from the ceremony/reception Picture of cutting the cake Brochure of resort Plane tickets Cocktail napkin from reception Room key Anything you bought for the occasion and won't use again ("bride" tank top, etc)
  17. Is there a travel agent you know and like in person? Perhaps you can ask to be her assistant for a while, to learn the ropes, and then go from there. Very exciting, Good luck!!
  18. Totally darling. So personal and memorable. Now, are you concerned that your fiance will "see" your dress ahead of time? hehe
  19. The platter is going to be such a great keepsake. Did you have any trouble transporting it back and forth? Love your use of logo, colors, and personalization!
  20. Moe you are SO CREATIVE! Thanks for sharing so much with us. I especially love that you shared the pages of your BD, and your adorable table numbers. I bet the guests were fighting over who would get to take them home!! Congrats, married lady
  21. Chloe- I decided that the "group rate" wasn't the way to go, for me. My guests are traveling from so many different locations, staying diff amounts of time, that it wouldn't be worth the stress of trying to coordinate everyone. Plus getting them to fork out the deposit by force... I would have lost my mind doing it, and I wasn't able/willing to put down the deposit myself for everyone. My advice: if you lose the group rate, just roll with it and don't even worry about it. You tried
  22. I am hoping to pick out something that they're likely to enjoy, reasonably priced, and buy it for them (as long as I can afford it). My BM's all have different tastes so I thought it'd be easiest if I made the executive decision and then paid for it so they didn't have any room to complain Like others have said, i think it's a very nice, unexpected gesture, if you're able to spring it. I plan to look at victoria's secret, jcrew, etc, and catch a sale.
  23. I get so far behind because I can't get on BDW during the day, so I'm always playing catch-up =P Wanted to respond to an earlier post: Once you request your wedding date at RPRM and get a confirmation code you can go ahead and make it official even if you haven't booked your trip within the 90 days. I emailed Riu and they gave me a temporary code to enter in so I could complete my reservation. So don't stress if you haven't booked but need to solidify your date, you can still do it.
