  1. I have very sensitive skin. I bought the Smashbox foundation, brush, concealer, primer and the Make Up Forever setting powder. It has not made my face break out and I am able to DIY photo-ready make up. Very excited!
  2. KittenHeart- I know the feeling about the pressures of work while trying to get out of town for the biggest event of our lives to date. It will all work out. I've been stressed, eating poorly for a week myself and I leave on Sunday for Europe to begin the rest of our adventure. At this point all we can do is go through the motions of regular life, try not to stress, and enjoy the wedding and the events leading up to it. I know it will all work out...try not to stress. Cannot wait to see pics from your big day! cheers, Quote: Originally Posted by KittenHeart You girls have awesome sounding jobs! I work at a software company in corporate sales. 3. I think its cute...my sister did something similar and everyone loved it. Go for it! Quote: Originally Posted by caligirl1282 Ladies, I need help. 4. Hi Ladies, I found a few things on Etsy I just loved and bought. First, I bought the Blue Hydrangea necklace for my MOH. This necklace will be perfect with her dress and I think it matches her personality. It's a very fun piece of jewelery. And I bought Alana Bridal Necklace to wear on my wedding day. I thought it was pretty and appropriate for the location.
  5. Today my H2B ran around town! We leave in one week for our trip. Although we are so excited we had lots to do. Here is what we were up to today: I started my day at 6AM, feeding/walking our two puppies. I ran on the treadmill, although I am at my goal weight, I need to keep it there At 9:30 we departed the house to go... Old Navy, a few spring clothes, khakis, t-shirts REI, European electrical adapters, travel laundry soap, laptop bag, odds & ends. Hugo Boss, pick up H2B's suit from their tailor Mall, shoes for H2B Walmart, travel bottles for shampoo, and other travel odds & ends It seemed like more when we were running around..maybe because we were in NOVA traffic. We also put out all of our clothes and stuff we need on the guest bedroom bed. We are ready! Earlier this week I did some ordering on Etsy. I ordered a wonderful Blue necklace for my MOH and the Alana necklace for me to wear. They should go in the mail this week...I hope they get here in time. Yikes, I cut this really close. I am having the MOH's necklace drop shipped to her house. She is leaving later than I am so there is a better chance of her getting it than me. I also ordered a new purse to tour Italy..so excited. It should arrive at the house by Wednesday..just in time. Friday, I went to Sephora for makeup...what an experience...not great. First I have to preface this by saying, I am fair, blond, blue-eyed....I do not wear make up well. I tend to feel/look like a bit of a clown or tart in heavy make up. They put me in some aweful make up. ...heavy dark eyeshadow. I ended up not getting shadow but I did find some great foundation. I got Smashbox Hi-def foundation travel kit in fair. Well let me tell you about that. I felt pressured at Sephora to buy the brush, full size foundation, basically the whole line....I bought it and felt so bad about it..I went to the other Sephora on my way home. I know I am a chicken. They were nicer there. They traded what I bought for the travel kit...since I am fine with my Bare Minerals for daily use. This is only for our big day. For my eyes, I want them to stand out but not trampy looking. I called my mom and she has some great purples and grays that she can help me create a good smokey, sexy look without feeling like a clown. I am so glad my mom is on my side on this and can help. I think it will be a great mother-daughter time for us. The week ahead is going to be full too. I have to take two final exams, get my hair brightened, eyebrows plucked, facial (maybe), do laundry, clean house and pack.
  6. Hi Ladies, There are three key points with spray tanning. One, go to a facility that does airbrush tanning. They give you a custom mixture and someone airbrushes you...no machine. This way there is no misinterpretation of the directions and no one will look like Ross from that one "Friends" episode. The second key point is to exfoliate well with a body polish the day before. The third is do not use any body soap or lotion with oil in it like Dove or Olay. The tanning agent will not stick due to the oil residue left on your skin. I have had success with spray tanning, sticking to the key points above. I am very fair..that is a nicer way of saying, pale. I have decided due to time, stress, graduate school and my full-time job not to tan. I am blond, blue eyed and fair, that's me naturally. I have decided to spend extra money on some MAC make up. I want my blue eyes to pop. I just got a hair conditioning treatment that my stylist said will help the camera catch the light on my hair and look great. I am also resigned to the fact, I don't think my natural look is that bad. If you are nervous about being streaky, just go natural and feel great. If you feel great, you will look great! The camera will pick up on confidence. I wish all the May 2010 brides good luck with tanning, make up, hair, etc. I just realized I will be leaving for Italy in a little over a week. I am so excited!
  7. I booked our tickets through travel points, no bump ups with travel points...beware.
  8. I agree with the other ladies. I ended up registering and letting my mom's BFF throw me a shower even though I felt bad about it. Everyone said, you only get married once, enjoy it. I am trying not to feel bad about it and have a good time. Plus if you don't register people will buy you stuff you don't like/want, people want to help celebrate.
  9. I like your pashmina tags...good luck printing/cutting them out!
  10. I've been reading everyone's posts. I feel like I have a million things to do but its less than that. We leave for our destination on 02 May and here is what I still need to do... Buy wedding day make up Buy wedding jewelry Buy bag to take dress on the plane (the dress shop literally gave me a white trash bag...not happy) Buy a few new clothes Search and buy gifts for my MOH and the Moms Pack Put a deposit down on our dinner reception at the local restaurant (still waiting on one person's entree choice) Finish our AHR invites, well only one part which I plan to print this week for my mom. My mom is sending them out literally as she walks out the door. Reconfirm hotel accommodations Reconfirm photographer since it's been a few months since we spoke via email Send a package of information to our wedding planner for our ceremony (that is on the list for today)
  11. I love your dress, esp. the beading. The style is similar to mine and I think it is gorgeous! Quote: Originally Posted by beachbunni307 Lol...I know I don't look all too excited in this picture...but I do LOVE the dress!! I tried on what felt like 100 dresses before I finally found this one!
  12. I picked up my custom wedding band to match/marry up with my grandmother's e-ring. I am very happy with them and I feel like I have a very unique pieces.
  13. I picked up our wedding bands today on my way home from getting my hair trimmed and highlighted. Before I talk about my wedding ring, I have to mention my hair and skin. I made an appointment 4 days before our departure to Europe to get my hair pampered and touched up. I am a naturally dirty blond that prefers to accent her natural blond features. That means, I lighten it just a touch with partial highlights. My blog pic is actually my natural hair color, dirty blond. Since blonds have a hard time with shine because the sun does not reflect off it like darker hair colors, my stylist recommended a conditioning treatment. I cannot remember what it is called but it will help with shine. I will probably also get my roots touched up too. I have an appointment next Wednesday to get a facial. So excited. I do not pamper myself often and I love doing it. Its better than shopping..which I am itching to do since it's been 75 in DC this week. I want to get some cute sun dresses for our trip...naturally Ok..back to my rings. I am using my grandmother's engagement ring since I was so close to her. So, my local jeweler, custom made me a wedding band using some lose diamonds. I love it! My engagement ring is not too big so the wedding band compliments it very well. Together they are dainty, cute, and girly. Just what I wanted. My FH's ring is awesome too. I am so pleased he is happy with it too. Everything is falling into place. I am no longer super stressed. Thank goodness too! The only thing I am worried about is the pre-travel packet I wanted to do. I may not have the time. Last weekend I made our AHR invitations so they'd be done and I wouldn't have to worry about it while we were in Europe. I am also in grad school and have to give an hour and a half lecture Monday. So..what about the pre-travel packets...I decided to put it on hold until after my presentation. So, next week. And if I cannot do it..I cannot do it. I am not going to worry. I am going with the attitude that I am the only one who really cares. I can email the document if needed with our schedule of events. I am getting so excited...I'll be on a plane in a little over one month ...going to marry my best friend! Here are my custom/antique rings: http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0255.jpg http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/...o/IMG_0257.jpg
  14. Sounds like you are doing a great job researching your options. I looked at the boat, that looks so cool. Also check out Trip advisor on the Jellyfish restaurant,
  15. The past two weeks have been rough. My job is demanding and I am in grad school. In spite of it all, we finally made it to our Italian Embassy appointment for our Atto Notorio. I am relieved to say, "its done!". It was also very exciting to be there and walk away with a certified document saying we could proceed with our wedding. ...Ahhh...wait there's more... I wanted to send out a pre-travel package. The "brochure" part of it is almost complete. I just need to get my rear to Micheal's for picture frames...that was going to be our gift to our guests. I couldn't think of anything else. I know, its sad. I am hoping to get it done and in the mail by next week. I am also going to print and send the soup can Italian phrase books. Anyway, this weekend, my mom and I are making our invitations to our AHR which is in June. I am nervous about my DIY projects since we leave 2 May for Italy and that is less than 2 months away! To top it all off, I am gaining weight. I have been working my butt off in the gym, eating well, drinking water and have been seeing slow results. I admit I only want to lose 5 pounds. But why are the last 5-10 so hard!?! I am trying not to stress about it and keep going. Keep eating well and keep working out. I am sure at this point, I am just picking on myself unnecessarily. ...ahhhh, I hope that is it. I think like so many other brides, I worry that I won't look good or feel good, etc. And I worry about my DIY projects that I love doing and I know people enjoy. Oh well, at least my Atto Notorio is done
  16. We're in the same boat. Only 16 of us including my FH and I. We're doing cocktails, pictures and a long, intimate dinner. I contacted a local restaurant and told them what we wanted and they are doing a private dinner with a traditional Amalfi Coast cake. We kind of opted out of the traditional wedding cake b/c of the small number of people.
  17. The weddingmares have begun with me too! I am stressed about one or two things. We were going to have stuff shipped to Italy in advance but it was way too expensive. We decided not to do OOT bags but pre-travel packages b/c of it...kinda bummed out about it but I must move on. Good luck to everyone carrying or shipping OOT items. Quote: Originally Posted by KittenHeart Oh I've been having weddingmares for like 8 months now! thope - I'm not shipping a single item, I have 6 suitcases I'm hauling down with me. I'm not using a wedding coordinator so I can't help you there, I'm sure there are some down there. JT3 - I think I'm gonna put zero, I have no intention of selling anything and it's just supplies for a wedding that I'm not even bringing back with me. I doubt it will matter, anything NOT to raise a red flag! HAHA!
  18. What a jerk! I had a similar experience with my dress pics. I showed my coworker (a woman) a picture of me in my dress at my 2nd fitting. Their reaction wasn't, "you look great!", "It's great", etc...it was,"oh...your dress...do you like it?" I said, "yes and you don't have to". And that is how all of us here should be. Your wedding is special, beautiful, and the way you wanted it. Forget about everyone else and if they don't have anything nice to say, then they should shut up. Don't let it get you down. I hope your pro pics come soon though. I'd be dying to see them for my own sake.
  19. So, glad to see people loving Bare Minerals. I have been using it for a while...love it! I am going to also suggest the Prime time primer...the make up will not come off during the day with the use of the primer. I think it comes w/the starter kit now.
  20. Our wedding is in May. We both plan on getting just a base or glow before we go. I am going to start in mid March and go twice a week...just for some color. In April I'll go get some new make up so it all matches. I have to be careful b/c I am fair, but I don't want to get burned and be red on my wedding day. My fiance has great olive skin, it takes 5 minutes for him to look great... so jealous. Anyway, I read on here that other said don't get too tan. I have heard that before, just get a base so your pictures turn out well.
  21. welcome! I am getting married in Italy too. Let me know if you need anything/information.
  22. So, by now everyone knows I am planning a wedding in Italy. We are getting married legally there and in the US, if we get the paper work right. So, here's what we've done so far: I am really excited about #4, our appointment is this Thursday, 4 March. This is great, only five or six more steps! After #4 is complete, we have the following left... We are completing #3 four days before our wedding. Our interpreter is helping us with that process, which I am grateful for. After that we are legally married in the US and Italy! This seems like a lot of paperwork to get married. Others have asked me why don't we get married legally here and then do a symbolic ceremony there. My response is all of the hard work and frustrations are going to make it so sweet! If you're going to do it, do it right! Also, I have a cheesy dream of having a beautiful wedding certificate in Italian from the town hall framed in my house. We are actually getting 5 copies, 4 which are international versions (in English and Italian) and one in Italian for framing. Stay tuned, we are only on the original step 4, Atto Notorio....
