    My understanding is that crime in DR is much higher than the tourist areas of MX. We considered DR at first and then went with MX. Also because DR is more expensive for our guests to get to. But I agree with everyone, you never know what will happen anywhere (in the US or elsewhere) in the future so go with what you want and hope for the best!

    The newest reports out this morning say that the numbers have stabilized in Mexico and it is really largely confined to Mexico City. This is good news!

    Our TA is pushing for people to book by May 12 for our Nov 3 date. She says the hotel is booking up for our week. So your TAs time line seems a little off. We did reserve a block of rooms, but didn't have to put anything down on the rooms.

    We are thinking about holding a bonfire rehearsal dinner at Dreams PV instead of a traditional dinner rehearsal. Has anyone had a bonfire there or know if it is allowed? Do they charge for it?

    Yah! We are super excited!! We booked it entirely off the rec of our TA and have only seen pictures and read reviews on Trip Advisor. Deciding to stay there wasn't nearly as difficult as deciding on which room we wanted! Maria was already booked when we booked, but it sounded wonderful. It sounds like you've been there. Any words of advice about the place? Did you walk into town along the beach?

    I also agree that a TA is the way to go! Why not when it doesn't cost you anything? If your guests decide to go on their own for their arrangements, they still can. It would be important to find out if you have been locked into anything with the charter/wholesaler, etc at this point, as that would make a difference in what you do. Search this forum for threads on finding a TA, there are a lot. I think there was a bunch in one of the Dreams threads.

    I bought a bunch of stuff and most of if was fine. I bought the plumping lip glosses - very subtle but worked (the color is very light and comes off easily though). The nail files don't work so don't order those. I like the all over cover stick in persimmon - I use it as a blush mostly. And the nail polishes are good.

    I have only heard of giving gifts when they person throwing the shower is not in the bridal party (and so already getting a gift).

    You can also get things from the Tourism office there too.

    That is a great idea; I hadn't thought of it! Plus our hotel charges to hand them out, so that's one less cost too!

    These are great ideas! I have never gotten a gift for throwing a shower, just for being in the wedding. Although as an MOH I received an additional gift. Gifts I have gotten I really liked was an initial necklace from Tiffany's, silver ball earrings from Tiffany's, and a pashmina. Since all of these girls are now in mind wedding, I can't repeat them. I don't know what to get them!! Such stress!
